I feel potential purchasers will be drawn to the look of it, and I don't see how they would be misinformed by this as they know the look they are getting from the product pictures.
A very important component of effective advertising is "telling" the consumer by various means that the product they are seeing is premium, even though it may not be. The customer might not have initially been drawn to the product visually, but when he is told that that's a patina (which he is not visually familiar with, but he knows to be a desirable finish because he keeps hearing people use that word in conversation), then he might feel inclined to purchase it for the sake of conformity ("Everyone says a patina is desirable, and they say this is a patina, so this must be an acquired taste that I must develop"). In effect, he has been misled.

Got to disagree.
I think the visual appearance would be the first thing that would draw someones interest into purchasing or not purchasing it. After all, the picture of the product is the first thing you see on a webpage, it is only later when/if the picture is clicked on, that you later see the advertising wording.

My chocolate leather Waterfield case arrived today and I personally think it looks great. Yes, there’s a little scuffing but that’s to be expected with leather IMHO. If people hadn’t been wussing and whining about the topic of scuffing vs patina, I doubt I would have even noticed it.

What I DO notice is the quality of construction and the elegance of design. The interior feels very soft and plush, the retractable magnets work well, and I really like having a place to store a power adapter and cable inside the case with exterior pockets for other small accessories. All in all, it’s worth the price and well worth the wait to get it. I’ve purchased numerous other cases from Waterfield over the years and really like them. The APM case did not disappoint.

Did I mention how gignormous the case is? I knew it was going to be large but it seems even larger in person. Of course, that’s a function of the size of the APMs but the size did surprise me a bit nonetheless.

Mines due to be delivered today. I was torn between the colour that you got on the black leather, in the end I went with the black leather.

Not sure if you have seen the video (I will post the link to below) or if it's of interest to you. But Gary (owner of Waterfield) has a really useful video on, where he shows how to get rid of marks, scuffs that happen with use. Basically he heats the area with an hairdryer and then rubs a fingertip over the area to work the oils of the leather in, and the mark vanishes.

i originally had ordered a decent looking case on ali express but after some consideration canceled and bit the bullet on the Red Forza case with the idea that this case will last longer and have a better build

I did not read thru this whole thread but Pad and Quill has a really nice one. Almost nice enough to have me buy a pair of these headphones.

My Waterfield case arrived today, and I'm absolutely over the moon with this case, cannot fault it.

Craftsmanship and workmanship are absolutely A1. You can certainly tell they take great pride in their work.

The leather smells just like a nice pair of leather shoes and looks and feels (and smells) of a very high quality.

I find it’s really well thought out, with all the little pockets and compartments means you have everything with you in the case for to charge them up. My Lightning cable fits perfectly easily in the front zip pocket, a small cleaning cloth in the mesh back pocket, and my 5W USB charging plug fits in the pocket that's inside where the headphones go. Only little thing I would like to point out is. Waterfield (with been in the US) seem to have made this pocket with the US version of the 5W USB charging plug in mind (which are smaller than the UK version) and as such the little velcro strap could do with been a bit longer so that it attaches to the velcro patch a bit easier. But that's just me been super picky.

The lining inside is insanely soft and will no way scratch AirPods Max. And also the inner lining around the zip area and the type of zip used are soft enough to not scratch the AirPods Max.

The magnetic butterflies work perfectly and put the AirPods Max into ultra low power mode instantly (which I’ve confirmed by seeing the AirPods Max disappearing from the battery widget and also showing disconnected in the Bluetooth settings on the iPhone).

Also with the AirPods Max in the case, I’ve shook the case around (to represent them been carried around in a backpack for example, to see if they would move away from the butterfly magnets and reconnect, and they did not reconnect, so they definitely stay out).

All in all, well worth the month wait and it only took three days to arrive here in the UK from San Francisco (they would’ve arrived in two days but FedEx f****d up somewhere and it was delivered a day later than it should have been).

Actually, if you look at the video of Gary demonstrating the case, it looks like the inner mesh pocket was designed to hold a 20 W power adapter and cable, not just the 5 W adapter and cable. And, in fact, my case fits either size adapter plus cable; however, the 20 W power brick fits better whereas the 5 W fits but seems a little loose. I’m not sure what the size/shape of the UK adapter is.

Yeah I just watched the video you mentioned again, and the charger Gary has (the US charging plug) looks noticably slimmer/smaller than the UK version.

Don't get me wrong the 5W UK adapter fits, its just the velcro strap could do with a tiny bit more length to be more completely on the velcro when it's pulled over.

Here's the 20W UK power plug:

That IS a lot chunkier than the US plug. You might email Gary with your suggestion. He's very responsive to feedback.

Got the waterfield case. Its too close of a fit / too small. the metal zippers can easily scratch the bottom of the ear cups. I had to pay return shipping and they did not refund the original shipping charge. Never buying from sfbags again. this is why i never buy aftermarket. Hopefully apple revises the case next version

Think you are expecting a bit much for the supplier to refund your original shipping as well as paying for the return shipping when the case has no manufacturing faults/defects.

I have the Waterfield case, and the zipper material and the lining in this area won't scratch the earcups. Also, I've never read on here or anywhere else online that people have got scratches on the ear cups from the Waterfield case.

my waterfield case shipped yesterday and is estimated to come in tomorrow wow that was fast!

i ordered the Red Forza case to match the Pink APM. surprised i havent seen any pictures of that one

Yeah mine arrived here in the UK in 3 days. It would have been 2 days, but Fedex must have messed up somewhere once it arrived in the UK, so it was delivered in 3 days, which is still really fast.

My Red Forza case from Waterfield came in yesterday and it looks much better in person than online. The texture sort of shines, it’s hard to capture on camera. The quality of the case is top notch and I’m impressed that it’s handmade.

Here are some shots of it with my Pink APM

Decided to order 3 cases to do a comparison. Key features for me was that the case had to have a magnet to allow for sleep mode and to be as small as possible.
TLDR: All 3 were able to put the APMs into sleep mode and had held the APMs in place securely. It was tough to choose between the Geekria or intelliARMOR - but went with intelliARMOR as the best combo of look, feel, and security.

To that end, I ordered the following cases:
- Geekria UltraShell: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B08R91RBT7/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  • Outside material is velvety/flocked and feels very nice and premium, though not sure how well this would hold up over time
  • Interior dividers were velcro (as expected) but did not feel as nice or as robust as hoped
  • Do not have to adjust headband in order to fit into case after adjusting the divider placement
  • Need to remove all of the dividers in order to fit the APMs in the case with the Apple Bra case
  • Zipper is not very smooth and seems like it may rub against the APMs
  • Included handle, accessories bag, and pouch - felt out, but not premium (which is fine for the price)
- JILIELE Replacemet Smart Case: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B08VMXJ2FJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  • Looks pretty cool and is definitely custom designed for the APMS. The other two cases probably are using generic shells with custom inserts
  • Biggest of all 3 cases...and too big for my tastes.
  • Have to move headband to smallest setting in order to fit into the case
  • Zipper felt nice and did not seem to be close to touching APM cups
  • No handle, so not as easy to carry, but not a huge concern for me since the case would be used in conjunction with a backpack for travel
- intelliARMOR CarryOn Max Premium: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B08XZWT72C/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  • Shell material felt nice and will likely hold up over time
  • Zipper is smooth and has rubberized lip for additional water protection
  • Interior is pretty cool looking and seemingly customized for the APMs
  • Did not need to adjust headband in order to place into the case
  • Included cable case is nice and premium feeling
  • Handle is a nice to have

Ended up buying the intelliarmor one as well.

Ordered the IntelliArmor. Was actually considering the Jieliele, love the contoured fit, but.. I wouldn’t like compressing them each time to fit into the case.
