Yeah, I'm kinda on the fence here. These are far better built than their counterparts, tank-like in a way. The thing I'm most worried about is scuffing the earcups, so the case mostly works there and keeps the amount of space they take up in a bag to a minimum.

i think that was the thinking when it came to creating the case, most people just see a case and think "oh, case, should be this way" and make a hasty generalized on what it SHOULD be, not what it CAN be...

Just got mine in the UK. I’ve put them and I’m like yea they’re good. But they’re not mind blowingly good. I don’t get why people’s reactions on videos has been so wow. My comparison is some gen 2 sennheiser momentum’s and they’re as good for me.

The ANC is superior and for my the looks are better and they fit well but comfort wise they’re fine too. Nothing to write home about. I wear glasses and they create a lot of ear pressure.

I’ll use them over the weekend but my feeling right now if they’re going back.

Before you do that, be sure to toggle accessibility mode to balanced tuning. Big difference.

Just got mine today. Blown away by the soumd build quality and comfort. Miles more comfortable than my bose 700/qc2. The people sayimg they not comfortable are just looking for an excuse to return because they cant afford haha. Only dislike is the smell

I think the comfort concerns are warranted as the weight is on the higher side, but the balance is great so I think most people will get use to it for all day use after a bit of time. As well, the initial clamping pressure is kinda high.

The smell will go away. I'm on my 3rd day and it's barely noticeable now. It is a bit weird for an Apple product though.

Very interesting. Marco Arment complained about the comfort.

These actually shocked me because I didn't expect them to be comfortable. They are VERY comfortable for me. The thing is, I'm more sensitive to pressure on the top of my head as opposed to around my ears. I have a rather narrow but long head LOL. The mesh idea for the headband was brilliant in my opinion. It doesn't even create that dent in my hair that most headphones do. It's like I can't even tell they're on my head. I only feel them around my ears and the clamping pressure is not bad for me. These are right up there with the Shure Aonic 50 and Sony 1000XM4 for me when it comes to comfort. But I'm just one person with one head shape ;)

Just got the Sony mx4s and the AirPods are going back. Im an apple fan boy but the Sonys work way better for me. Sound quality is neck in neck once you configure the EQ on the Sonys. They are lighter and more comfy. For plastic the build quality is top notch. Once we can get on a plane the Sonys are a far better choice. Battery life is better and can use a standard audio cable. For me there is no comparison. Cant give all my money to Apple as good as they are. I have spoken.

Probably returning mine. Mine drained 25% IN THE CASE in a few hours. 6-8% overnight. IN THE CASE!

It's already been reported only goes into deep sleep after being inside for 18 hours... so if losing 1% per hour is too much to handle, then you absolutely should return it.
25% in 3 hours is absolutely unacceptable

I thought that was a typo and you meant 3 days. That's obviously not expected behavior, maybe try a reset?
Yeah that would be my next step, maybe even a battery calibration. I can deal with 6-8% overnight, but I checked the level when I came home and it was 68%, 3 hours later 43%. Not sure how that even happens, I’m not even sure normal use will drain that fast! Maybe the battery meter needs to be calibrated?

No, it's not that, these are lion batteries, calibration will make slight changes to reported health but it wouldn't impact something so severe.

It sounds to me like some sort of bug that put your headphones in a state where they were running full bore. With regular use they should take about 5% per hour. I would just do a reset and see if it happens again, and if so report it to Applecare.

I’m still on my first charge since Tuesday, guessing an average of 3 hours use a day (give or take), out of case all day, in case overnight. 26% left.

I love them.

Just did a factory reset. Battery meter is unchanged so let’s see how it goes.

I had turned my ear cups upside down to maybe more even wear them, but it seems when you do that it blocks some kind of sensor. Was that the problem maybe???

I'd say so, they were probs on pause for three hours without going to any sort of sleep mode.

I turned them upside down yesterday weirdly, and overnight drain was slightly higher at 8%. Maybe explains the 25% in a few hours but even so. They were in the case and not showing on Bluetooth sources

Wow face is due to Apple's reviewer's instruction manual (contract). Also word luxurious.

Received mine on the 15th, but they’re wrapped up under the Xmas tree to be opened on the 25th, so no 1st impressions just yet...
As for smell, my AirPods Pro also had a strong smell when I first got them (I assumed from the silicone tips?), but that was completely gone within a week or two

The earcups do have an orientation, there's a hole in each for an optical sensor. That could possibly be it, that they think they're on your head at all times.
