Sound: Amazing
Power Management: Horrible

I don't use the case very often (I have a Waterfield on order). The things are constantly dead. The lack of a power button is damning.

Have you tried to reset them?

I charged them to 100% last Wednesday, didn't use them until just now and they are at 98%. Try a reset to see if that fixes your severe battery drain or exchange them for a new pair if it doesn't help.

AirPods Max with "TOLUOHU Headband Cushion" (amazon link) and "Geekria Silicone Skin Cover" (amazon link) on top of 12south discontinued Fermata stand (that can charge with lightening cable):

I don't like the way the "TOLUOHU Headband Cushion" looks, I also don't like how it prevents the knit mesh from compressing on your head. See how the headband is raised in the bottom image?
Covers for headphones now lol, no thanks.

been listening for a few hours. theyre great. im not wowed by them for music yet, but i do think they sound great. i watched a Disney+ show though and wow yeah that was pretty strange, i took them off once or twice and then played with the volume to make sure the sound was coming from them and not the ipad.

My B
I did a bunch of A/B comparisons with my B&W P7 Wireless headphones, which are slightly lighter than the APMs and were very highly regarded as a BT headphone when they were introduced in 2016. In terms of comfort, the APMs are much more comfortable to me. In terms of sound, you can really tell how these two headphones have different sound profiles. There is more clarity and detail (some would call it sparkle) with the APMs, particularly with vocals and upper frequencies; the B&Ws sound a bit congested in comparison. On some acapella vocals, you can hear the faint echo on the APMs; you can't on the B&Ws. I was surprised by that. On the other hand, if you like bass, the B&Ws comparatively have much more, and you can really feel it at comparable volumes. There APMs have what I would call enough bass, and the bass that is there is as deep, but more distinct with more texture, but it's not rattling your head like the B&Ws. Some have complained that the APMs are not loud enough. To me, they get plenty loud, louder than I would be willing to listen to for more than a few seconds, but no doubt some folks really like volume.

I like the APM controls, but they are placed just where you put your hands when taking them on and off, so I'm often pressing them accidentally.

What I think is potentially very exciting about the APMs is that Apple could change the overall tuning of the headphones, hopefully just through software controls on iOS or MacOS. I guess it may not be much different than sound equalization, but I was thinking that Apple could have different, user-selectable sound profiles for the headphones themselves that are separate from equalization for the sound signal. Hopefully through iOS or MacOS controls, possibly combined with some firmware update. You could go for a neutral/balanced profile, or a bass-heavy or "fun" profile.
My B&W P7s are my go To headphones for now so I’m excited to check out the APMs (mine are due to be delivered tomorrow)..... thanks for the comparison.

Actually decided to return my space grey ones. They sounded pretty good but I just can’t get over a couple of things.

Ended up returning my APMs. Never had so many issues with a pair of headphones or any other apple product really. Airpod pros were a massive hit. Sticking with the XM4s for now. I'll check back to see if any of these issues are resolved by firmware updates. These were clearly rushed and maybe the V2s or "sport" versions will be better.

I agree that I've had some issues with mine too. But all of the issues I had were easily temporarily solvable until Apple brings out a firmware update.

When I put on my Beat's Studio Pro3's they feel a lot worse in comparison to the AirPods Max. And for me having all the "Apple Stuff" that comes with the H1 chips in each ear cup made them worth it.

How are they for walking around in?

Also what is the consensus if the ear cushions get wet? We're coming out of winter and into spring so I'm wondering how sweat may affect these?

They are now back in stock in the UK, and I took my eye off them for a while - so no idea how everyones are holding up.

I haven't tried to walk outside with my AirPods Max. I prefer my AirPods Pro for outside in general. I feel that the AirPods Max are much better suited for use inside.

I walk with APMs in the house, every day all day, and do an occasional SUV trip with them in sub-zero (0 ... -20 °C) temperatures. I do not leave them in cold though, it takes only minutes until the car gets warm.

If I keep them on 8 hours straight, there might be tiny mini-droplets behind the cushions. But I don't worry about that too much. They're tiny, and the drivers are covered behind a transparent mesh. It doesn't look like it's going to do anything at all in practice, I don't see a way for the moisture to get inside the aluminum shell. And the moisture is gone in minutes if I take the headphones off during dinner.

Overall the best headphones by a wide margin for a home office, for Apple devices. Better than NC700 and XM4 for sure, I've had those too. I invested in AppleCare+ too, it's an extra 10% cost, but these are keepers, so it was worth the peace of mind.

I must say the sound quality in the APM is crazy! Never heard anything better from a pair of headphones. Recently returned the Bose 700 because of the microphone, that sounded really bad in phone calls.

However the microphone in APM could be better (at least for my voice), even my airpods pro picks up the voice better according to several people i talked with today. I run latest ios and have an iphone 11 pro.

So mine arrived on Thursday and I’ve been using them constantly. Fantastic sound and noise cancelling and so much better than my AirPods Pro. The cushions are very comfortable on my ears and I don’t feel any clamping. No battery draining issues either....but i’m going to send them back as I’m just finding them a little too heavy and I have to take a break every 30 minutes. I don’t like the way that the cups bang together either and I am not sure about the durability of the fabric mesh. I certainly don’t want to cover them with silicon cups and put a silicon cover on the fabric mesh.

So what I’m gonna do is send them back and I’m going to wait for the AirPods Max Sport which if the suggestions from the likes of Prosser are true, will launch in a couple of months and will have exactly the same functionality but with cheaper materials and will be a third of the price cheaper and a third of the weight lighter.
If rumours about the AirPods Max Sport turn out to be untrue then I will re-order the Max and learn to cope with the weight as the sound is amazing
