Right now getting a pair is like fishing . I kept checking the Apple site and just caught me a pair for pick up tomorrow. I just cancelled my Best Buy order after 10 days of no updates .
Lucky. My local Apple store is closed so Best Buy is my only hope. Fingers crossed

Should have purchased quicker? They can only make so many, we are in a pandemic, they sold out fast. I don't know what else to tell you.
How much quicker? This is as bad as the PS5 and Xbox launch where because of how they were done you have to constantly check. Part of this is not Apple's fault but the fault of greedy people ordering more than what they need to sell. There are folks on Craigslist saying they "Accidentally purchased extra ones they did not need" However I do not want these bad enough to pay 900 dollars for the scalpers price.

None of the Best Buy's in Seattle got any which surprises me considering Seattle is a major tech hub due to having the headquarters of Amazon and Microsoft and major FB and Google offices here too.

B and H was also out of stock as well and they are listed on Target's website as coming soon and have been. I'm am guessing I am going to have to take that while 24 hour period off from work next year when the "Apple Glasses" are released to just constantly refresh the page Because if the indicator of how the PS5, Xbox and now the AirPods selling out within seconds is an indicator the glasses may be sold out for a year.

People were able to lock down launch day deliveries from 3rd parties up until the next day and in-store stock was readily available on launch day as well if pre-orders were missed. Having that in-store availability also gave time to look at some early reviews and make a decision before ordering.

After those were gone, it is still possible to get one same-day by checking in on the Apple store pick up stock throughout the day (I was able to get one for pick up this weekend). Stock has continuously been popping up albeit in small quantities throughout the week.

It's a popular product, stock sold quick for sure, but there were many chances to order.

Additionally Target will be getting more stock Dec. 23 according to their website and order times are shrinking on Apple's website.

Maybe it's fanboy of me to say, but I don't think Apple botched the stock on this launch. It was just... popular. Lots of demand = less supply.

Store always get some quantities reserved for store sales.
Yeah. I was able to do store pickup today (the local stores were sold out after ~1/2 hour from when I found them) even though shipment was still showing to be into Feb. Separate inventory pools.

It's worth continuing to check. The past several weeks, I found no local availability at NYC Apple Stores but randomly checked around noon local time today and was surprised to fine availability. SG and Silver only. Gone after around 1/2 hour.

just wanted to mention, I snagged a Space Gray pair of Airpod Max's this morning from target. I was using a plugin that refreshes pages every X interval (you can set it) and checks for any page changes. Well I found out target was having the space gray (the one I was specifically looking for) available for 10 seconds~ every several hours.

So i bumped up the refresh rate this morning to every 5 seconds, and bam. Target is shipping out soon to deliver on Monday the 29th. So hype, and glad I didn't have to wait till february/march.

Oooops! Just taken delivery of a pair of Space Grey.... so naughty but hell, I've missed so many concerts this year I've probably saved the money already (accidentally forgetting all the other £1000+ apple purchases this year....!)

Big thanks to @magicone who provided the Argos (UK) tip-off! I managed to slip in an order on the 19th for today's home delivery :)

i ordered late from Best Buy and had a 12/28 ship-by date. I received an email this morning from Best Buy saying it was shipped from DC and should be received by 12/30 via UPS SurePost. I was surprised that it shipped early but was expecting it to go to USPS like everyone with Best Buy orders. Instead its going UPS and handed off to USPS for the last mile. There is a $7 option to switch to all UPS delivery but based on shipping experience with UPS this year, I‘m not sure they are any better than USPS for the last mile. A lot of the deliveries for the new MacBook Airs and Pros have been off pretty ugly by UPS and Apple.

Nope. I just went to the site (check every day) and they have the Pre-Order button up. To my surprise.

I just placed an order from amazon.de (Space Grey). They say "Temporarily out of stock" so i'm not hoping for anything earlier than February :)

Anyone else ordered from amazon (de or uk)?
