I lost 10% of battery when I was out on a trip and didn't use my Max for a week. That is acceptable to me. I lose a consistent 5% an hour when actually using them. I am happy without a power button. I own far too many electronic devices, there's too much mental clutter involved with so many devices, and the less I have to think about properly using them, the better. The Max let me forget about having to 'manage them'.
Given a choice between the Max with their 20 hours, handoff features, noise cancelling, transparency and ease of use without a power button.......................... compared with other headphones and their 40 hours, no handoff features, worse transparency, needing to carry an extra charging cable because they can't use my iPhone's lightning cable, and the need to micromanage battery with a power button,...... I'd pick the Max anytime.
All this said, I do wish Apple made the long press of the dial function as a power button or something. Not because I want a power button for myself. But because I would like to see all the complaining about the lack of a power button stop ?. Let those who have the mental energy to micromanage their devices have that opportunity.
