Real handy how the charger case fits in my cargo work shorts...

Heavy phone use today. Noticed Airpods were down to 25%, so pre-empted things & slotted one in the charger case whilst on the phone with the other. This was in a noisy environment & the single Airpod still did it's job.

In less than 15 minutes, the other Airpod charged to 100% (!?!?), so then swapped them around to charge the other one....worked flawlessly.

Also connected the Airpods to the first non-IOS device: Windows 7 laptop. It took a bit of tweaking (needed to make the Airpods the default audio device), but they eventually worked. Not as slick as when connected to IOS devices, but at least I now know I can use them on the laptop.

Its strange alright... I'm on a conference call at the moment and there's an audible hiss/noise on the EarPods when people are talking which isn't there when I transfer the call to my phone.

Here is my two day's ownership experience:

Don't get me wrong, AirPods are awesome but I have a few issues that annoy me that I hope will be addressed in a future firmware update: for example, today I went running 10km and they fell off 4 times so I guess they are not meant for running...

Also, I hate double tap. I double tapped by accident many times while running, whilst checking if they were in place and trying to fit them back in place. So I turned off double tap. But that means I can't answer a phone call double tapping my AirPods, and this is another annoyance.

Finally I can't seem to find out how to change volume during a phone call. Is via iPhone's volume buttons/iPhone's Control Center my only option? Can it be done via Apple Watch? o_O If not, it sucks big one.

You should be able to adjust the call volume using the volume buttons on the side of the iPhone.
I'm with you, I've a feeling the controls will be refined in future updates. Don't think that'll stop them falling out though :p

Sadly depends on your ear. Mine doesn't fall out when running at all.

You can turn the volume on your iPhone and watch yes.

Reading through this thread reinforces why I haven't even attempted to try and buy a pair. Never thought I would say it but I treat purchasing Apple products like I do any other electronic device from other companies now. Always wait till they get the wrinkles ironed out.

If the watch phone and airpods are all integrated then if you pull up the remote app on the watch and have it be the front most app while your running then the Digital Crown will allow scrolling up and down for volume

So, disregarding that you'll hear significantly more complaining and fault reporting on any forum from people with issues, for myriad reasons perhaps even including issues that aren't caused by the AirPods. Than you will from the many happy customers who have no issue and no reason to complain.

These issues don't affect everyone, they wont even represent the majority. It's just that griping gets far more forum space than anything else. I've not got any of the problems mentioned in here. I've had a dropout once that hasn't reoccurred in a couple of days worth of actual listening time. So I'm not complaining.

If we took all of the griping as reason not to buy a product, then none of us would have bought an iPhone 7 considering how much complaining was (and still is) done about that.

If you want a pair, get them and enjoy them. If you're unlucky enough to encounter a problem, Apple has an excellent returns and exchange policy. Don't ever be put off something you want by internet complainers because for as long as a product exists, there will be people complaining about it. (That's any product, not just Apple, unless anyone knows of a product no-one has ever complained about?)

I still don't get how to turn up and down the volume! I need to open the Remote app on my Apple Watch?

When you're on the phone it will have the time you are on the call and you should be able to turn it up then.

No, for the call volume just wait until you're on a call and use the volume buttons on your iPhone. That should adjust it without unlocking, opening an app or anything else.

Well, supposedly you should be able to. But I can't. I've tried when receiving a call and answering via the iPhone, double tapping the AirPods and via the Watch. I've tried initiating a call from the Apple Watch, initiating a call from the iPhone and initiating it using Siri through the AirPods.

Not a single time have I managed to change the volume with the Watch. I can if I'm not using the AirPods (or any other Bluetooth headset,) the volume from the Watch speaker adjusts fine with the Crown. But as soon as I use the AirPods (or any other Bluetooth headset,) I can only adjust the call volume with the buttons on the side of my iPhone.

So that seems to be the most reliable way, which is why it's the option I recommend to folk. Stick your hand in your pocket and press the iPhone buttons. Well, assuming the iPhone is in your pocket of course, otherwise you're just fiddling with yourself and no-one wants to see. that :p

I run each and every day.... cold weather right now but they never come out. Move a bit maybe but never fall out. Each person is different so don't make a general statement.

I've noticed an interesting issue. I use Ring Central,a VoIP phone and also have an app on my iPhone for work. I've noticed the past few days when I try to make a call, it says call failed, (once the call is initiated, it's all handled through the normal phone app on the iPhone, works similar to google voice). I get the option of a circle with an X to cancel or a green phone button to redial. From my perspective, it seems like the call failed, however, the person I'm calling is saying they see me calling and answer the call but I'm not there. This only happens when I'm using the AirPods. Not once has it done it with the phone or my other bluetooth earpiece (a motorola Hint). Has anyone else experienced this? The only other issue when making a direct call from my phone is that when I get a call, I try to put an AirPods in and maybe 50+% of the time it does not connect and I miss the call or the other person is just stuck not hearing me. I can sometimes go in and select Iphone or speaker and "might" be able to get on the call.

I have a wireless gigabit router (Archer C8) that uses both 5 Ghz and 2.4 GHz, but my IPP 9.7 always uses the 5 GHz SSID. The only device that uses the 2.4 GHz SSID is the Kindle Paperwhite (it doesn't recognize the other). Will I experience problems with the Airpods?

Also, I have the Apple Pencil, and another IPP 9.7, and in this second iPAD I need to let the Bluetooth turned ON because if it's off, then I am forced to pair with it again.

By using the Airpods, will I be forced to let it on all the time? In the Pencil's case, I always let the iPAD turned on because I don't like to insert the Pencil in that lightning connector every single time. I think that can wear down both of them over time, so I avoid having to this procedure again. The only downside is the waste of the iPAD battery (for letting the Bluetooth on all the time).

I use my Apple Watch to control the volume on my Airpods every day. Just make sure the music app is up on your watch. Works perfectly.

For what it's worth, bluetooth when not connected to anything draws a negligible amount of battery.
Yes, but the Pencil's battery is drained even if not used for days. It takes minutes to recharge, but I would love it to only waste any battery when actually being used to draw anything.

Thanks, but I was talking about in-call volume not music volume. Or do you mean the in-call volume can be adjusted with the music app, if so that's just weird and awkward.

I didn't make a general statement. I just shared my personal experience. Maybe it's the cold weather. I feel like my ears are falling off, let alone my AirPods!

You mean that you can control the phone call volume via the music app?

The pencil is likely in some sort of perma-standby mode so it pairs with the iPad the instance you move it. The price to pay for convenience and ease of pairing is battery drain, I suppose.
