Agree with you, though I view them as £30 worth of audio and £130 worth of convience . They sound like the EarPods to me, but the BT implementation if first class, with a great case , very good battery life and so light.

Have you tried pairing to an iPod? I can't get good audio when paired with an iPod
Haven't had an iPod in years.

Sleeping with AirPods in was fine, aside from not getting tangled up in cables it means I can keep my iPhone on a table.
I'm also getting used to using siri for volume control; it's not bad for occasional changes in volume.

Any response issues with winter gloves?

Response of what?

The "double tap" for Siri is _accelerometer_ based... not touch!

These not only work great with gloves... they actually work with a wool cap on! (Been out walking around NYC today with gloves and a cap on all day). Just double tap the outside of my cap (through my gloves and cap)... and Siri comes right up!

I actually expect them to work even with my ski helmet on! Just double tap my _helmet_ (which is up against my ears) and it should be enough to trigger them.

My favorite feature so far is the ability to use them one at a time. Let's me keep some music on even when I need to hear what's going on around me... AND I can just pop in the other one and it will immediately use both. Really cool!

I'm having problems with the double-tap - it only works every now and again. Not a deal breaker, but a slight concern.

Weird... works every time for me. Just be aware that it's not "touch" based... its _accelerometer_ based. Don't double-"touch" them lightly... just slap your ear twice... it's the _movement_ that triggers them.

See my post above about how this is cool because it works with gloves/hats/helmets...

I'm not sure I'm doing the right thing, but I'm not able to pause by one tap... Are we forced to pull them off ?

There is no "single-tap" gesture as far as I know. Just double-tap for Siri.

Something I've noticed. If you double tap when streaming from iPhone-Siri summons.

If you double tap when playing from Apple Watch, it doesn't summon Siri-it pauses the music. Is that the same for everyone else?

Do they block out any noise whatsoever when listening to music at about 50% volume?
They don't block out much noise at all. Definitely do not buy these if you require noise isolation to block out noise, I'd wait for the Beats X if you can as they are going to be much better at that due to the silicone sealing ear buds.

It is not a requirement but a nice to have though I know from experience with the EarPods which don't either, not that they should since it is open air design and not closed. I would not have purchased them if that was a requirement.

Thanks for the feedback. Mine arrive Wednesday.

I quite like them, one of my favourite features:

CK0lmXy.png

By selecting the Airpods from here it pipes only iTunes through to them and not any other sounds from the computer. Genius!

since there is no touch sensors involving touch from your fingers I doubt gloves matter at all. The only thing that is touch, if not all accelerometer, is the inner ear portion so that it knows it is in your ear.

double tap the actual pod part not the stem.

Good to know it works with gloves! I was worried about summoning Siri with winter gloves on.

My verdict after using it a few hours:

a) The original ear pods never played nice with my ears and neither do these sadly. Definitely falls off now and then and can't use for running personally
b) Sound clarity and loudness impressed me
c) Double tap quite buggy at the moment, sometimes it just won't work no matter how many times you tap it until you start a song or something
d) Paring is easy and simple. Like how battery life is easily accessible
e) Charging case is so cool

If the fit was secure, these would be almost perfect.

asking siri to raise the volume by a certain % is good. so you don't need to just say increase volume. so if you want 80% volume siri does it.

Yes, that is definitely cool. There are some things you can do with the Siri which you wouldn't be able to with the inline remote - like initiate a shuffle of the playlist, or change the play list altogether. Or even stuff not related to music like what's the weather likely to be today/tomorrow.

I can go from listening to my playlist to asking it to play "beats one radio" and it just seamlessly switches to it. Like a song? Add it to playlist/library via Siri :).

Love them so far! Hopefully Apple releases a future software update where you can do more gestures with them.

What controls are available when Siri is offline? Can you adjust volume or skip play pause etc. answer calls?

Biggest complaint is that the switching between devices isn't as seamless as advertised. Going from iPhone 7 to rMBP take at least 20 seconds. Still better than re-pairing everytime though.

No one tap options. By default double tap is for Siri but you can also make it play pause. Alternatively, just take one out of your ear and music will pause. Place it back in ear: music starts up again

Tap to pause (obviously no one sane would leave Siri set) doesn't work reliably, audio quality is mediocre (same as Earpods), I get occasional wireless interference (cut outs) when using them.

Humorously, Apple doesn't include a USB-C lightning cable. Why can't Apple get on board with their own decisions? If the future is USB-C, ship USB-C. No charging brick is included either, which hurts.

Apple wants to sell me wireless earbuds, but what I want is another lightning port on the phone. Or, better yet, a non-proprietary audio port.

I like the way the case feels, it's probably the best thing about the EarPods. Very satisfying opening/closing experience.

Has anyone tried using just one? I am deaf in one ear so I would only be using one.
There is problems with using just one. For example I kept the right AirPod in the case and only used the left one. The problem is one of the features of AirPods is that if you take one out of your ear, the music will pause. Instead when using only one, if you take it out of your ear the music will pause, but when putting it back in the music does not start up again.
[doublepost=1482185869][/doublepost]
Either one works fine on its own, although not sure the auto-pause works using just one
Exactly, using just one is fine but the auto pausing and playing does not work correctly.
