I picked up two pairs yesterday, and last night I have noticed terrible connection issues on both pairs. While sitting at a table with the phone laying either to the left or right of me, there will be stuttering and occasional complete dropouts for several seconds. And then they will work fine for a few minutes. This is super frustrating
Majority of wireless communication happens over 2.4GHz. So if you have wireless routers (WiFi) or other wireless transmitters near by those can cause interference with each other. Also devices like microwave ovens, USB hard drives might send 2.4GHz frequencies causing interference with 2.4GHz devices.

I wonder why this choice. Comfort is the only thing I can think of.
Safety would be an other major reason. Driving while having your ears plugged isn't the smartest idea in the world and the same goes if you are walking/biking among other people/traffic.

Judging from the video, the non seal was important to bring up bass performance (allowing air to move easier than compared to a seal).

I have the same exact problem. My phone is sitting right next to me at work, and the connection drops constantly. Either stuttering or a few seconds of pure silence. The left AirPod actually stopped working for like 5 seconds while the right one was working just fine. It ended up just kicking back in a few seconds later.

I have a second pair of AirPods coming in the mail today. I will test those out to see if they have the same problem.

Has anyone ran into issues with slight headaches after using? I've used them twice now, first for an hour and the 2nd time for 30 minutes. After both times of using I've started to feel a pressure on my head and a small lingering headache for hours.

I've never had any issues with the wired EarPods, so I'm a little surprised that these have caused me issues. It feels like the Airpods might be a little bit bigger, which might be causing my issue, but it's hard to tell.

I'm hoping that it's just a coincidence that my head has hurt after using, but I doubt it. Has anyone else experienced anything similar? Btw it's not the volume, as I have specifically made sure to listen to them as low as possible.

My guess, you're dehydrated and unaware of it.

How is the volume on the AirPods for those of you that have them? I just got a set today and they don't seem to be as loud as my Lightning EarPods from the iPhone 7.

I like how they sound at around 85% in my quiet home but that doesn't leave much room to increase the volume when I'm in a loud environment.

I may be mistaken because I never go anywhere near max volume, but the Airpods are definitely louder than I can bear, not sure how that compares to the wired versions however.

Yeah, same. I usually max out at 75% which is why I'm thinking there's a problem with these.

Owners, are you finding these a better fit than regular earpods? Meaning they don't just kind of sit in your ear, they more "fit" in your ear and are somewhat secured? I wish they included covers to form a seal.

i DO find they fit and sit better than the earpods. I often had earpods fall out while working out, or just moving around. These fit better for sure IMHO. They don't fall out, not sure if the extra weight just holds it in place better, or if the stem helps seat it on the bottom of the ear, or if the head end is just a tad larger. regardless, they feel much better and yet, feel as if there aren't really there at all?

And they DO sound a lot better, anyone who doesn't think so can't distinguish the difference. There is more base, they get louder, a fuller sound. It's not like putting on a pair of Sennheisers or anything, but it's much better than my other BT headsets, better than the earpods and certainly very good for BT.

The thing that really amazes me is the call sound quality, but on your end and on the RECIPIENT end. Most ppl say they sound better than just talking into the phone.

Anyone having issues with double tap not working at times? Especially when only wearing one at a time.
I don't yet have them, but some have had trouble with the double tap gesture. Do notice that the double tap gesture is not double touch gesture. It's accelerometer based gesture, so you must hit the AirPod hard enough for it register the tap. I guess a better wording would be to call it double hit/punch gesture.

I'm sorry to hear that, I knew I was taking a risk getting a first run of these products but I'm going to be on a worksite in Louisiana for the first week of the year and I really didn't want to have to deal with wires while building a house.

If you are having connection issues, sadly I would say try deleting all the bluetooth connections, which I think is the RESET NETWORK SETTINGS on the phone, and then repair. I had to do this with my wifes phone and it make them work perfectly. Yeah, it's a pain to have to do but I think actually all that stuff gets corrupted somewhat when doing in place upgrades and I've done a lot. My benz wouldn't repair with her phone after an in place upgrade, had to reset network settings to even get it to pair with the mercedes again. This might be similar.

Worth a shot before sending them back - and waiting for new stock

This is my experience as well. It's not a "holy cow" difference, but there's more "presence" to my music without it just being louder. I can hear the highs better in live concerts I'm listening to and there is a significant amount more "oomph" (please, don't take that as these being overdriven bass monsters like certain Beats) to the punch of the bass.

Love em.

I received my airpods yesterday and I am really impressed with the battery life, how comfortable they are and the sound is pretty good. That being said, I am having connection issues as well - I get crackling sound and the cutting out.

Prior to getting the airpods, I have been using the jabra sport elites and I have to say, the sound is better as well as I love the fact that I can control volume, skip tracts, etc directly on the Jabras. The biggest issue with the jabras is the battery life (3 hours + 6 more via the case). Plus the jabras are water resistant (P67) - which is important since a big reason I want completely wireless earphones is for the gym.

Has anyone worked out with the airpods?

I will have to return one pair because I cant afford to keep both earphones- and I really torn about which one to return.

I went for my first run with the AirPods this morning. It was 30 degrees so I was wearing a balaclava and stocking hat. I was still able to double tap the AirPods and give voice commands even though my mouth and the AirPod was totally covered by fabric.

The bad news is I had the audiobook that I was playing stop two times during the run. Each time I was able to take the phone and push play again and the audio continued. I assume that this was related to the cold temperatures, but we'll see. They work fine under normal (in the house, warm) conditions.

I bet i won't need to charge my case for another day. It's still on 88% now even after using the air pods in the gym and out and about

I'm thinking the issue may just be with my iPhone. When I pair them with my AW double-tap works exactly as intended. May need to do a fresh iOS install on my phone.

Glad you're happy with them. But I would think trying sleep with these would be uncomfortable or cumbersome. But I haven't received mine yet to contest to this.
But he said he currently sleeps with earpods, so it's reasonable that for him, he wouldn't have an issue with the airpods, even though you might.

For the outside of the airpod? Then it wouldnt fit in the case and in my ear. The weight and thickness would be different.
some of the small gel caps are very thin, and would probably go over the head part of the unit. one would have to cut some holes for the prox sense and the air vent. Someone will have version for airpods soon enough though.

I was excited about these since they were announced and am overall very happy with them. They were more or less what I was expecting them to be.

I've never had an issue with the Apple style "Ear bud" design. In fact, I usually preferred it to use at work since they don't totally isolate the outside world. I also listen to podcasts 90% of the time, so I don't require super high sound quality. These days you pretty much can't buy any kind of earbuds that aren't the in-ear/seal kind so design-wise, these totally work for me.

Before getting these, I had a few expectations that I've had to adjust as I've learned how they work and some of their limitations.

I figured I could use one AirPod until dead while listening to Podcasts, then switch to the other one. The problem I have here is, both AirPods are on and playing if they are out of the case. I tested this by putting one in, pressing play, and then putting the second one close enough to my ear to hear, but not close enough to trip the IR sensor and there is definitely sound coming from it.

You may say, "just keep it in the case", which is an option of course, but I am the type who wants to maximize each charge of my batteries. So I'd rather not drop them in the case every time I'm not using them. I'd rather use up each charge to maximize their life.

Which leads me to my next slight disappointment: If the AirPods are on, and even out of your ears, they don't auto power off, ever. I left them on and sitting on my nightstand all night intentionally, and they never auto-powered off. I thought they might, like an Apple Pencil does, but they never shut off. To get around this, I simply have to toggle Bluetooth off for a moment, then back on. That triggers them to turn off.

Lastly, I was always under the impression I could literally go to any of my iCloud connected devices and press play and the sound would route from that device. This isn't the case from my iPad Pro, I have to select them as my playback device. To go back to my iPhone, I have to do the same.

I've found workaround for my issues, so I still like them overall. I'm glad to finally have them.
