If the AirPods are on, and even out of your ears, they don't auto power off, ever. I left them on and sitting on my nightstand all night intentionally, and they never auto-powered off. .

Mine automatically power off, Ive fall asleep with them on 2 nights and after locating them amongst my sheets in the morning they still have plenty of charge.
I wonder if you need to check if yours are faulty.

Awesome... almost every single phone call I've tried with these things results in the AirPods dropping the connection. Phone has always been within arms' reach, too.:mad::mad:

Anyone tried them out with an older Mac? I'd been using with my iP7 today without any issues, but connected up to my 5 year old iMac tonight and they're hopeless, dropping out every 4-5 seconds :( I guess this could be a problem with the older Bluetooth in the 2011 iMac?

Hi everyone!

Got my AirPods yesterday and really enjoying 'em. One quick question about using Siri with these:

Just wondering whether it is possible to ask Siri follow up questions when using your AirPods? Right now when I first invoke Siri and ask the first question, she'll give me a reply as usual. Then a second double tap on the Airpods actually quits Siri instead of letting me ask a follow-up question.

Thanks!

Just tried on my "late 2012" Mac mini running Sierra. They worked fine. Sounded good.

Update: Also sound good on my old "mid 2007" iMac running El Capitan. I had to pair them manually and I got a popup notification saying I needed a newer OS to support them. (The latest Sierra upgrade won't install on that old machine). Anyway, music sounded fine regardless.

How would I check that? They weren't dead but they were definitely connected to my phone the entire night.

Does anyone's power off after a time of inactivity?

I have the same issue. I spend all day on teleconferences and during today I've been having 4+ disconnects per hour while on the phone.

I love the AirPods - but they have to work !

Did they pair automatically through iCloud on your 2012 iMac? I might try pairing them manually and see if that makes it difference. When the sound isn't breaking up, they sounded fine, but a micro-second blip every 4-5 seconds isn't ideal!

I'm having a new issue. I changed my AirPods in the case to full but they still show a lightning icon next to the pods, even though they are at 100%. I checked 3 times:

Initially: AirPod L and R both at 100% (Listed separately in widget.) The L only Pod had the Lighting/Charging Icon. Case at 81%.

10 minutes later:
AirPods shown as one entry in widget, shown as 100% with charging Icon. Case at 81%

1 hour, 40 minutes later:
AirPods shown as one entry in widget, shown as 98% and charging. Case at 79%.

Are they suppose to be constantly charging?

Please do let me know if you figure out a solution. These were intended to be my bluetooth-headset replacement/magic solution for work, as well... :(

I'm sure this isn't the intended functionality. I'm also more inclined to believe iOS is the problem, as my phone has been on a bender since 10.2 installed. Notifications appearing where the widgets should be and all sorts. Maybe a reset all settings would help your predicament?

Got mine a couple hours ago. I'm going to be returning them.

The EarPods never fit in my ears. They would constantly fall out. My number one concern with the AirPods was that they would fall out and they do. Also, the sound constantly pauses on me. In the early stages of falling out, I guess they get far enough away that the IR sensor thinks they are out and the sound stops. If I push them back in, the sound comes back. I've activated Siri more than once when I do this as well.

I'm really bummed about this. I think these things are very cool and I'm disappointed they don't fit my ears. Wish these things weren't one size fits all. They definitely stay in better than the EarPods, but that isn't good enough. :(

I'll probably look into the Beats headphones with the W1 chip.

The problem is, you have to think logically and understand that the new USB-C MacBooks are a "niche" product, compared to the expected audience that these are aimed to attract. Adding a USB-C cable to the package would really just create a ton of e-waste (which doesn't fit with Apple's philosophy) as you figure less than 5% of people who buy these would actually be able to use said cable and likely less than 1% of those would actually USE the cable to charge from their Mac. They are designed to have multiple days worth of battery life from a single charge of the case alone. You shouldn't really have a problem getting through a day with plenty of battery life to spare. Just plug it in at night. If the battery case was non existent and the AirPods needed to be charged after 5 hours, I can see the argument. With the charging case implementation, it is a non issue.

This is apologist ********. If the port is changing, change the port on everything. Ship a USB-C power brick with the iPhone 7, with the AirPods, with everything going forward and include the cable as well.

This half step ******** prolongs the pain of a transition.

I picked mine up from the house about 1 today. I was on 3 conference calls this afternoon and no one made any comments about the audio from the microphone. I've had no drops and walked about 15 feet from my phone (no line of sight). Been listening to audible when not on calls. I think I feel a little silly with both of them in, but I guess I'll get over it. So far, a winner for me.

But he said he currently sleeps with earpods, so it's reasonable that for him, he wouldn't have an issue with the airpods, even though you might.

It was an observation and opinion. Mainly Because I would think the stem from the Airpods would be an issue or even laying on your side. It wouldn't be for me to wear in bed. Aside from that, perhaps he could change his mind if the Airpods are everything the EarPods were.

So I am really loving mine...but I just tried to use them with my Mac Mini that is plugged into my smart tv. For the life of me I cannot get these damn things to connect to my Mac mini. It doesn't show up in Bluetooth management, I have unpaired and repaired them with my iPhone. It simply isn't connecting to my Mac via iCloud.

Are there no aftermarket accessories you could hunt for on Amazon that would help keep them in your ear? I feel like that's a bit of an opportunity for some company to market and sell.

Returning mine. Ambient noise, lack of inline controls, and sound quality all let me down. I still recommend them to others. Case is awesome.

I like they way they fit. A big improvement over the wired model. Should be ok, at least for light usage. Maybe full time, who knows.

Wow! I'm sorry. I was able to talk with my dad for an hour last night as I walked all over my apartment with no issue at all.

For $150 bucks they still should've included an iPhone style USBA charging brick.

Pretty happy with them. My only complaint is along with a lot of others they are in need of more touch commands that would make their functionality comparable with the wired inline remote.

With my Earbuds I have always used either foam covers (for everyday use) or Earhoox (for exercise). When these were first announced I had decided to get them right away because I like how the stock Earbuds fit but I hate the wires. I thought there would be no way that the foam covers that I use would work as they are a pain to get on. I just wasn't going to be taking them on and off. I had used them for a day stock then today decided to try the foam covers. I thought I'd have two problems. 1. I thought the IR sensor wouldn't work and 2. I thought they wouldn't fit in the case. I was pleasantly surprised to be wrong on both accounts. They turn on and off when inserting/removing them and they fit in the case and the lid closes all the way. One of the reasons I use foam covers is to keep them more securely in my ears but the Airpods seem to fit very well. But another great benefits is the increase in sound quality. Having that little bit of seal increases bass and overall sound that would normally leak away.

They should made more tapping controls on them..

2 tap and 3 tap on both sides would give 4 different settings to change from taps

Could then be 2 tap on left to increase volume, 3 tap there and decrease it.

And on right i would have play/pause and skip track functions
