How is anyone getting the tape to stick? I cleaned mine put it still won't stay put.

The medical tape I posted is VERY sticky and will not have a problem sticking. But note, it doesn't last forever. I remove the tape, and clean my airpods every 2-3 weeks. I also only put them on one time per day (I wear one at a time all day at work). I'd imagine if frequent on-off's the tape may not last as long.

I don’t say this often, but: Just. Friggin. Genius.

Thanks — you saved me a lot of money. I was going to switch away from the best iPhone accessory ever until I saw this post.

I have tried a few hacks and I ended up buying these and they actually work pretty well.

I have been using the tape for almost a year. Based on yours and others in this thread, I decided to try out these from amazon. I ordered the blue, and today is the first day using them. I have to say, these work for me, and are more elegant solution than using tape. I'm impressed.

Thank you

I love them as well. I used to use tape, but inevitably I would have to replace the tape every few months. These work very well for me.

There is a tiny bit of resistance when closing the case, but it does close for me. I have had these on my AirPods for a month now, and I haven’t had one issue with them.

In your opinion, for those of us that the AirPods fall out at the drop of a hat because I guess I have big ears, would these work?

Yes, they are sticky, so they hold MUCH better. My ears have a big opening too. Works really well for me. Yesterday was my first full day of use (I have them in all day at work, one ear at a time), I'm sold.

Do they fit properly inside the case, closed?

As stated above, there is a little bit of resistance (the lid makes slight contact), but it opens and closes fine.

Mine will be here tomorrow, but I won't get to try them until my first set of AirDots wear out and I remove them. So far the AirDots help but the AirPods are still not secure enough.

I tried a few things out and what's finally sorted it for me is... buying an ear hair trimmer :D

Seriously, the fit is fine now that the plastic of the airpods can stick to my skin better.

Before discovering this thread, I had purchased AirDots on Amazon, which are kind like OP's idea but I found that the adhesive got kind of nasty after a while. Not as foamy and compressible, so prob not as good as the nexcare.

So I joined specifically to say that I know this was a joke, but I tried this and found that if I switch left and right and turn them upside down, they actually fit much better and stay in my ears.

Try it! YMMV

There is always this style

Do they look dumb? I don't know, not any dumber than right side up I guess. And they definitely fit in the case, but you do have to remember to turn them right side up again.

Only thing is I haven't tried to make a phone call like this. I LOVE how well people can hear you on a call with them in normally. It might not sound as good this way for the other person. I'll try after work and let you know.

Just ordered the tape and punch from Amazon. Arriving in a couple days. I'm excited to find something that works and fits in the case. I'm using some ear hook thing right now. They stay in but I have to take them off to charge.

I can only used my left AirPod while still, it just falls out. Wonder if this new design will solve that?

yeah but won't fit in the case with them on? going to try the new ones so will see, want to see how good the NC is too.
Yes it will.Case will close fine. I use white. Got them on ebay. 20 pairs for $1. I just use small scissors or nail clippers to cut a tiny section near the sensor. Works great. Otherwise I can't wear these.
