So I just got mine about a half hour ago. So far, so good....I think....

Something weird is happening to my body though after putting them in. After firing up some Dance Gavin Dance, and the sound was great, I started sweating heavily. My hands also became very sticky. I'm at work so I grabbed a paper off the printer and it was literally stuck to my hand. And after grabbing it with my other hand, it stuck to that one too. A coworker just asked me why I'm sweating so much.

Other than that, these fit really well and the sound is really good. I'm just not sure what's going on with some of the side effects. I'll keep you guys updated.

I just received mine and. I am not sure I like them. I tried all three pieces and I got a „good to go on each“. I can also „feel“ them like I know something is in my ears while on my first gen AirPods it’s like I don’t even have anything in my ears. I am not quite sure how deep I am supposed to push them into my ears tbh?

i am slightly disappointed in NC like I heard people claiming it even cancels out airplane noises and I am highly doubting it since I can perfectly hear my bf doing the dishes in the kitchen right now.

Are they supposed to make some subtle static buzzing when I am not playing anything? Little annoying

Mine don't buzz. Also, the noise cancellation is more effective against steady, lower-frequency sounds than sharp, higher-frequency ones (such as dishes clinking).

This happens with my Bose QC35II as well. Go to starbucks and can hear the coffee carafes being tossed about and voices. However, it drowns out the grinding and other such things.

Can anyone confirm if the audio difference between the Sony’s & APP is as demonstrated in the below vid?

Uploader mentions the adaptive EQ may have skewed the APP sound grab.

Good thing they have an IP4 rating for sweat. ?

After using these for the past few days I can say 100% the Sony’s have better sound quality and better ANC. Sound quality it’s not even a contest but the AirPod pros do sound good as well. The Sony’s have better clarity and a better sound stage imo. Bass is better and more punch. If SQ is what you want along with better ANC get the Sony WF-1000XM3. The ANC isn’t bad on the AirPod pros but it’s a tad worse then the Sony’s which isn’t a bad thing. The AirPod pros have a better Bluetooth connection and are louder. I had this issue where the Sony’s would go lower after a bit at max volume.

That being said I prefer the AirPods because of better connection and the smaller case

I can't say definitively, because that's not the kind of music I listen to, but that video is not really consistent with the differences I heard between the two. The WF-1000XM3 unequivocally did sound better though.

I own both the Sony’s are better.... but the AirPods better overall package of smaller case, smaller buds and so forth make it a better earbud imo

Yeah, same here. True, sound quality is the most important thing for most people (and it is for me too), but the mountain of other favorable aspects of the APP tipped the scales in its favor (given that it sounds very good as well).

Funny is I have the Powerbeats pro and the bower and Wilkins PX5 which both sound better but I use the AirPods more.

Thats not how NC works, won't stop noises like that altogether, hums or constant noise yes, i have a fan going above me in my office and when i turn NC on noise is gone, as an example.

I am impressed with the sound quality and the ANC and the FIT. Finally, I have AirPods that stay in my ears... my left mainly. I will be taking them on a flight tomorrow and Friday so I will be curious how ANC does on a plane. But I take a bus to work and it certainly drowns out the constant noise from the moving bus. Two thumbs on on these things... ymmv

After using these nearly a week I don't have much to complain about as compared to my old gen. 1 airpods. They are superior in sound quality, connection speed, and I do love the ANC mode. Minor quibbles are that they are harder to get out of the ear quickly and there was a unique satisfaction to putting the airpods back in the gen. 1 case that doesn't happen now. No regrets here. If you own an iPhone this is a very good purchase.

I walked around a Mall today. With ANC on and music playing comfortably I literally couldn’t hear the noise around me.

This is going to be a great new era of people running into others, stepping in front of people coming up behind that they don't hear, on and on..

Life is so funny.. We've made so many contexts totally miserable that now everyone just wants a digital plug to stick in their ear and "escape" all the time. lol

After try, I determine that ANC sure not for use when walking on street. Very dangerous. I assume Apple can further implement motion detection to switch ANC off when walking.
Also, I wonder if the ANC and Transparency mode cause issue in sound quality. I will try to turn to Off mode to check if it sounds better for quiet environment listening.

If you can drop those tracks into a playlist and share it with me, I'd be happy to do an A/B test this weekend.

As for the traffic, I'm in the suburbs of Tokyo but even traffic on busy streets is almost entirely attenuated (when music is playing at 60% I can't really hear the traffic at all). One very cool thing I just discovered though, is that Siri can enable the three ANC levels - so you can turn on Transparency, for example, without having to touch the AirPods Pro or your phone at all. Very cool.

Another thing - this head cold is indeed affecting my perception of the bass. This morning I was pleasantly surprised when I put the AirPods Pro on and started listening to the same tracks again. Plenty of bass! Not as much as the Sonys but still satisfying.

Took me a while yet here is the playlist.

I don't really know where to put my honest review so I'll put it here.

I got the airpods pro yesterday morning. I currently own the following:
1) Power beats pro
2) Sony WF-1000MX3
3) Sony WH-1000MX3

I have owned the Bose in-ear truly wireless, the Jabra Active blah blah T (i forgot the number) and the original airpods.

Here are my thoughts:

Noise cancelling: Since i have 3 different kinds of noise cancelling and an engineering lab which constantly has tons of fans on. I feel i can give a good idea of the performance. Based on what i have can tell, the different between the in ear Sony WF-1000MX3 and the Airpods Pro is about on PAR. slight (i mean slight differences) but they do about the same performance. the WH-1000XMX3 over the ear headphones are the best but that's because of the size and form factor.

Sound: They didn't blow me away. It was the same airpods to me, people say bass is better and clarity but i don't have a pair of airpods anymore since i have lost them earlier so i felt like when comparing to the Sony in ears i noticed that the bass is more pronounced in the Sonys. but overall, it was a mute point from a sound point of view. if i wanted good sounding headphones, i would buy good sounding headphones and give them the service they truly need and not this gimped up approach. As for as sound goes, i actually prefer the powerbeats pro.

Comfort - the silicon tips for me add a slight uncomfort compared to the original airpods. (I mean slight). that is because i am blessed with the ear shape perfect for the airpods and that meant they can just rest outside my ear. I never noticed they were on my head. but for the Airpod pros, i can kinda feel it. It's certainly alot better than the Jabras, the bose, and the sonys (i have bought and tried them all).

Transparency: This was the best feature and the game changer for me. I have heard ambient sound before on other headphones, but i can notice ambient sound immediately. the sony in-ear does a good job than the over the head sonys but the airpods are WORLDS better. in the Sony's they over amplify the sound so everything is wayyyy too sensitive. When I type, talk, walk, tap...everything. The Apple Airpods got the sound to as natural as possible. I even tried them in a meeting in front of 10 people in a large room and it sound as natural as it gets. I loved it.

Mic quality: I don't want to even mention the sony's - the reason i keep buying new in-ears is because they all suck except for the my airpods (OG). The mics are facing out on the Sony's and it picks up all sounds. the stem design of the airpods is better in my opinion. This is big for me because I'm constantly on the phone and I liked that i had my airpods on me all the time to take a call. This is partially the reason why i bought the power beats, they have a directional mic. That said, so far the mic quality on teh airpods pro has been good, but will save judgment as there is another thread on the audio mic quality.

the Force press - I really like this so much better than the Tap. I like this better than any touch control on any in-ear system. the audio clip is a nice touch to know it worked, the transparency is easy. on the Sony's i keep trying to remember which side is the pause and play and which size is the NC/Ambient controls.

Negative - no volume controls.

Positive - ability to ask siri to turn on and off NC

next test: Trying my airpods pro with my sony over the head ANC to get me super noise cancelling LOL.

Thanks for your time - cheers.

There are 2 microphones per earbud on the Sony WF-1000XM3’s, one facing inside the other outside. If you owned them you’d know this as it’s right on the packaging. In all fairness I don’t have audio call quality issues from my voice to other parties (on cellphones office Cisco phones or landlines.)

Still deciding if i should pull the trigger... they cost exactly 325$ here. That's Beoplay E8 2.0 money and 50$ more than Sennheiser's Momentum True Wireless buds

Hint: Ditch the Beoplay E8 v2 ... their STILL in the Master & Slave game of earbuds ... and if they haven't scraped out on you playing in only 1 ear ... the next update most surely will. I love the design but NOT worth the hassle and the longevity to get it replaced under warranty.

A very good review here...
& another short & sweet one from the champ Dave2D...

Why so defensive? That wasn’t even directed at you.

Good review on the top ... but JUST because he claims to be an 'audiophile' non of his previous videos really show his wealth of experience/knowledge of such a claim. I'd rathe believe that other guy, JimsReviewRoom that ONLY reviews headset, earbuds.

^ he has yet to review them but at LEAST he's had over 50 different quality headsets to review, and has specifically mentioned if he purchased said headphones about to be reviewed at the beginning. Not like the first guy and video whom claimed to be in a coffee shop yet computer and speakers easily accessible to the public? Meh.

Dave2D great reviews but man does he really hate Apple and loves Dell ;) lol all in all lots of bases covered by both reviewers. I just don't put too much weight into them.

Ginormous case for the Sony WF's ... each to their own but not bigger than many competitors.
Random disconnects ... I've had one due to interference by satellite that any wireless headphones/buds would encounter.

still I'll wait another week before I purchase the APP to decide.

So after a week of use the verdict is:
AirPods Pro give me everything that the original ones were lacking. My only major problem with the original AirPods was that I couldn't run with them or do high intensity training without putting third-party silicone tips on them to keep them in place. This has been addressed beautifully. I love the fit and the comfort of the pros.
Sound is great and noise cancelling is not intrusive or "deafening". I absolutely love transparency - not having to take the AirPods out to have a conversation or to gain back "awareness" is probably my favorite feature.
Apple definitely listened with these - they kept what was working and they added what we asked for !

The original AirPods and then AirPods 2 are the best gadget ever.
I am using them for 6 hours a day - mainly phone calls - sometimes I forget those are in.

After the launch of AirPods Pro I have decided not to buy them as I have in-ear buds.
2 days after I received them as bday gift..

Decided to use them for a while and here are my thoughts:
- AP2 are much more comfortable for me than APP
- APP are hard to take out of the case, takes more time to put them in ears, also harder to put back into the case
- APP Design is worse in my opinion.
- APP case is bigger
- Phone call quality - microphone - subjectively is worse on APP
+ Noise Cancellation might be good for trains/planes, I do not want to carry QC35 always.
+ Sound is better (not much) on APP

All in all, I think I will use AP2 everyday. Comfort of wearing them is much higher.
The biggest factor is the microphone quality. I will use APP for a couple of more days, but if still people will complain about the quality, then I will pass APP to someone.
