How are the airpods in regards to sound (clarity) and gym usage?

Do they hold up well?

They sound the same as the ear pods without the wires. Honestly they would be OK in the gym but I would go with something like the jaybird run (or any other with hooks) the bose Soundsport free are great

They are ok... I wouldn't buy them again. The sound is not as good as my Bose sport bluetooth headphones. Using outside the gym i get frustrated when one ear will activate and the other won't.

Hmm how that strang only one air pod would activate.
These basically sound like the wire version?
Same thing just no cord?

Yea they are ok.... My main use is for work calls, and when I use them I'd say at least 25% of the time the wron air pod works.

To be fair, I purchased Bose QC Bluetooth headphones for my calls because air pods weren't consistent enough.

I have never had any issue with an AirPod activating, so that must be an issue with your AirPods or something you are doing wrong.

I also think they sound quite a bit better than the wired EarPods. It is not like blow away amazing sound like say the Beats Studio 3's I have, but they are VERY clear and the bass is even alright. They sound pretty excellent and I am very picky about how my music sounds, and hell I use the AirPods more than my Studio 3's.

Read the reviews and then make up your mind.

I'm not sure how someone can open the cover wrong, but I'm pretty sure it isn't me.

Amazon has the Bose truly wireless SoundSport Free headphones on sale for $200, which is only $40 more than AirPods. I don’t own them but I’ve heard the sound quality is better and they are sweat resistant. The pairing process is not as seamless, but I would still pick them over AirPods if I were looking for new headphones for the gym right now.

You said "i get frustrated when one ear will activate and the other won't." I took that as meaning one AirPod was working and the other one was not. You never said anything about opening the case and having problems with that.

So I apologize if I misunderstood what issue you were having.

Mine sound very good, always work correctly and the case and quick pairing are great. I don't expect them to sound high end.

And that in of itself is the issue. If they sound slightly better then why pay over $100 because it's made by Apple. Sorry as someone who loves good sound and by no means an audiophile. I have a bunch of headphones but my favorite is the Bowers and wilkins px. Tbh if you're main use is the gym I would go with the bose wireless headphones or go with an on ear and the beats solo 3. The beats solo 3 isn't great by any means but they are acceptable now and the bass punch is good for working out

They arent apple W1 chip seamless but close to it. Just download the Bose app and it's done through that.

I've got a voucher to buy AirPods or Powerbeats 3?

I heard the Powerbeats are really poor build quality....so the AirPods will be the better choice? Am I right?

If you plan on working out with your headphones then go with the PowerBeats 3. If you are just going to use them to listen to music around the house or something like that, definitely go with the AirPods.

I listen to mainly r &b and hip-hop if that helps...

What's the point though of buying the PB3? Soo many people have said the build is terrible and it ends up failing apart in a couple of months meaning a Genius Bar appointment to get a replacement etc....
Do you own the PB3?

I don't think anyone is buying them for the sound... it's for the ease of use with the W1 chip, instant pairing, nifty charge case, independence of each AirPod, etc. Sound quality is sufficient for me on the EarPods as I almost exclusively listen to podcasts/audiobooks with them and when I have listened to music I thought it was fine. I don't own a pair simply because I haven't been able to justify the price when I have been happy with $20 bluetooth headphones from amazon. I've bought 4 different pairs over the past 4 years (One broke after a couple years, another one I'm not super satisfied with the way they stay in my ears so I don't really use, and the last 2 I still currently use which is convenient to be able to have in different places or to always ensure one is charged. From what I can tell each pair has had roughly 3-4 hours of battery life which for me usually means charging once or twice a week.) and in total have spent roughly half what a single pair of AirPods cost.

No I do not own the PB3's.

I own the AirPods and absolutely love them! I use them more than my Beats Studio 3's to be honest. All I meant is that the AirPods are not the best for hardcore workouts and what not. They are not labeled as sweat resistant, but I have jogged with them and got sweat in them and they still continue to work fine. I just wipe them down afterwards and let them air out a little bit before I put them back in the charge case.

I say AirPods, but it obviously depends on your use case.

I use a Q-Tip with some rubbing alcohol on it. I rarely get wax in them as I am pretty OCD about making sure my ears are clean. Sometimes I use an alcohol pad to wipe down the entire AirPod, just to clean them and kill any bacteria that might be on them.

I use 91% isopropyl alcohol, kills a lot of bacteria.

Goodluck!

I tried my sons airpods and they didn’t fit my ears well. They aren't forgiving and you can’t change ear tip size. One size fits all or not.

I’m not fond of the hard plastic, earbuds should be foam tip for best sound isolation IMO. Come in different sizes to accommodathe your own ears.

If you do go airpods you’ve got to check these out if you haven’t seen them.
