All jokes aside, what would be a reason to get the iPhone 7 Plus over the Note 7?

So, not due to the recall, but outside of that, what would be a reason to get the iPhone 7 plus over the Note 7?

I currently have the Note 7 and do really like it, but it has been recalled and I have the ability to switch to the iPhone 7 Plus. I seem to bounce back and forth between Android and iOS and can never feel fully satisfied with either one.

The Note 7 will get fixed, so wondering what reasons you think are the main reasons to go with the 7 plus over the Note 7 since the Note 7 on paper, and even in some hardware features are more impressive than the 7 Plus?

Note 7 has a better screen, wireless and fast charging, better waterproofing. The camera system may end up being a wash, although I do like the telephoto lens on the new 7 Plus. Just wondering if there were reasons you'd pick the 7 plus over the Note 7 besides saying it doesn't explode. Looking for some constructive feedback. I'm getting the itch to come back to iPhone, but not really unsatisfied with the the Note 7.

It isn't that much better than Drive though. Plus, I feel like one of Android's main features over iOS is the file system. I will say, restoring an iPhone is 1000000x better than restoring any Android phone.

Complete backup of my device. 99% (Minus music). Call/Text synchronization between my phone, Macbook, iPad, Apple Watch. Handoff from my phone to my iPad/Macbook and vice versa.

But the Note 7 has samsung cloud that comes with 15GB of storage for free if I remember correctly. that is if you have the ATT, T-mobile or the sprint versions, it's not available with the Verizon version.

I'm a big fan of the Apple ecosystem. iOS also feels more cohesive to me than Android. Not to mention mobile Safari is better than mobile Chrome and Samsung hadn't updated their browser in forever last time I checked.

Well, Note 7 is no iPhone. I wouldn't spend that much money on an Android phone which essentially runs the same apps a $50 android phone does.

I use Google Drive for my iPhones and Androids, PC's and Macs. It's a fast easy way to store and backup your data.

That said, if I had a choice, I would go with the 7 Plus because of zero bloatware, no skin atop the OS and prompt updates. If I already had the Note 7 however, there would be little reason for me to switch. All the reasons you mentioned are perfectly valid.

The apps on Android I've found (at least the ones I use) are pretty much equivalent. The reason I've jumped ship from iPhone a few times is because the customization has been so limited, but I haven't tried iOS10 and it did seem to make some improvements. Hardware wise, maybe outside of battery life, I feel like the Note has a large edge (pardon the pun). I really wish the iPhone would have at least brough quick charging. The lack of headphone jack blows, but it's not a deal breaker for me.

I've been an Apple user since the first phone came out 3G. And somewhere in between the 4 and 5s I decided to try the Note. It was hard for me because I have the iMac, Macbook pro, iPads and when my phone was a Samsung it felt like nothing was connected when I needed it to. It was about 6 months in I realized how much I needed the Apple ecosystem and for everything to simply work together or handoff thus making everything simpler for me. I haven't gone back since. While I enjoyed the Note, I certainly don't miss their app store. Their app store is not the best. I really missed the Apple app store that time.

The Note 7 uses the same CPU as the much older Galaxy 7. I wouldn't even call the the Note 7 an upgrade over the G7. It's an old device in my opinion. History will show that aside from the battery issue, the Note 7 will be a flop. At least with Apple, the iPhone has a faster processor and camera. I think a better comparison would be the iPhone 7 vs Galaxy 7.

I just returned my Note 7 and will be pre ordering the 7 Plus tonight. My issues with the Note are mainly all related to software. In my experience the same apps on android are almost all better on iOS, I never found a email app that I liked on android, Messaging in iMessage is far better than any of the apps I tried, I actually find 3D touch much more useful than the S-Pen for my uses. Battery life on the Note was not great for me but fast charging made that less of an issue. Also I missed my apple watch a lot more than I anticipated.

I can't think of any hardware "on paper" or in real world use that sounds more impressive on the Note 7 than the iPhone 7+.

- A10 fusion spanks any CPU in any Android and Apple's own previous phone (which the A9 already beat CPU's in Samsung/other android phones)

- RAM. Still to be determined because we never know the quantity of RAM in new iPhones until it's in consumer hands or ifixit does a tear down. Either way it's incredibly irrelevant because iOS and iPhones have always done better with less RAM than Android's with more (especially when compared against Samsung phones. They are notoriously bad at RAM management) iPhone 7 was rumoured to be 2GB and the Plus to have 3GB.

- iPhones have faster internal storage. (There was a video

of an iPhone 6s just annihilating the new Note 7. This was a combination of the better A9 processor and the quicker flash and that gap will further increase its lead with the A10. The video also highlights the better RAM management in iPhones)

- Screen. Ok Samsung has a higher resolution and OLED, however higher resolution doesn't matter a whole lot when at normal viewing distances. The iPhone 7+ now has a cinema spec P3 colour space screen. Which IMO is far better to have the wider colour gamut and better calibrated screen than a resolution that only makes a difference at closer than normal view distances. (And now 25% brighter than previous iPhones)

- 3D Touch only on iPhones (this now also includes the home button)

- Equal water resistance (may even in the real world end up being better with all those recent discoveries of that the s7's and such weren't actually as water resistant as claimed)

- Stereo speakers. iPhone 7/7+ now has a top and bottom speaker for playback, which should make quite a difference in audio quality for viewing YouTube videos or whatever other content, also just music playback in general.

- Camera. Likely to out perform the Note 7, especially the dual camera in the Plus model. Also now captures photos and video in the cinema spec P3 colour gamut.

Um... It runs those apps more smoothly than a $50 phone ever would. There's definitely something that can be said about that. I should know. I have a $50 Android phone with 6" 1080p screen, Snapdragon 617 and 2gb of RAM.

The bloatware from both Samsung and the greedy carriers and the way it is implemented. Apple also throws in their share of crap that no one uses in their phones but at least you can really isolate it and stops interfering with the way the OS operates. On the Android side, you almost need a PHD to deal with this stuff and a lot of times, certain apps still run in the background. There's just so much fragmented garbage to deal with.

If Google controlled their OS the same way Apple did and didn't allow the carriers and hardware manufacturers to butt rape their OS, can you imagine what your Note 7 would have looked like?

i had the iPhone 3G, and then was android more or less the last 4 years. the last year and a half, i had the Note 4 until the LCD "spiderwebbed" (screen doesn't work, glass ins't broken, but does work - makes sense? ).

I have had a Mac since 2007ish. What i actually liked about the android is that i didn't have to go through iTunes for stuff. I could put ANYTHING on that phone. PSDs, PDFs, any movie format, music, etc etc easily. Since i am getting the i7P, i am going to have to learn how to deal with the very things i disliked about my iPhone almost 8 years ago.

Unless things have changed? I don't use iPhotos (or whatever the program is called), just CC 2015. (LR). So i am hoping i don't have to use that program, to be able to put my edited photos on my phone.

I'll give you most of these but waterproofing is not better on iPhone. IP67 vs IP68. Also no fast charging. That's such a no brainer. Not sure why apple wouldn't be implementing yet.

Well, the exploding phone issue does call into question Samsung's quality control and customer service. I'm reading about more alleged fires every day, and the most they can do is a half-hearted voluntary recall. The largest problem Apple has had in recent memory was a flawed antenna design, and that was many years ago.

Aside from that, overall build quality and customer service are standouts for Apple. You can find many stories on Macrumors about Apple store staff going way above and beyond to take care of a customer need, and that's certainly been my experience.

The other one I'll throw in is performance. The latest iPhones run circles around any Android phone on performance, regardless of how many more cores some Android phones have. The iPhone is your fastest, smoothest, most reliable and dependable option out there.
