I’m fine with the iPhone getting ever larger (most people seem to like it for some reason), provided every few years they throw people a bone and release a mini.

I’ll be upgrading to a 13 mini in the near future then plan on returning to my 5ish year upgrade cycle.

Here's the problem with that though. Apple only offers certain features on the higher end iPhones. Those higher end iPhones also tend to have the larger sized screens. When Apple sees consumers opting for those Pro/Pro Max iPhones, they might mistakenly believe that consumers are buying them because of the size and not because of the features. So Apple keeps offering larger and larger sized iPhones thinking that's what the consumer wants.
If it work$- that is, people buy anyway- Apple IS right. At some point, customers stop buying “bigger” and Apple will get the message. Else, customers keep buying, phones may keep growing, bonuses keep getting earned, and records keep being broken.

Your apparent idea is correct, but Apple's main form of measuring keeps shouting they are making right decisions. They may be wrong about forever growing the size, but all key measures that matter don’t support that.

I just want the device to actually be a bit wider, not taller, so that when using in landscape we get a bit more real estate and not end up looking through Boba Fett's visor.

*EDIT: I do not want this to be the ONLY iPhone either. They should keep the mini around and the other regular or giant sized ones. Variety, please.

if the screen had to get bigger, I was honestly hoping for a wider phone with the same height. The phones are already comically tall and it makes landscape of minimal use when that used to be a huge selling point of the iPhone.
Yeah anytime I pick up my old 8 plus I notice how much easier it was to type on. My typos have went up dramatically as the phones have gotten slimmer

I really don't know what I'm going to do.

If these trends continue, soon there just won't be an iPhone for me. The iPhone 14 / 14 Pro is just too large for me and it's only a matter of time before it's the smallest iPhone Apple makes.

The tallness is what makes them so awkward. A phone with the same height as the current regular-pro model but as wide as the max would be *perfect* for me.
