I’m sure app developers are happy about having to develop for a new aspect ratio! 023AA3A9-FDE8-4BC3-A023-D46F32B40C3F.gif

I don't know why people are surprised.

When the iPhone Mini was a thing... people had the choice between small, medium, and large.

And people overwhelmingly chose medium and large.

People like big phones. That's the market now. Big phones are in. Small is out.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Big phones?
They are about to overcome tablets that, in order not to be overtaken, are about to become televisions. I'll buy a big iPhone when it's a TV, because to me the video editing job and Jobs taught that under 23” you're just playing.

iPhone 40” will be the best iPhone ever. Up to 50”.

This is rubbish, not technology. It's technological rubbish.

Another inch and we have a IPhonePad mini.

6.9 an 8.3 are just about one inch away. Don't start counting chickens, please...

But you have to factor in shape... the aspect ratio.

Like I said... you can't just look at the number of inches measured diagonally.

I hear what you're saying... but a bigger phone isn't automatically a tablet.

A tablet is a different shape.

My theory is that the main motivation here is to reinstate the 18:9 unobstructed area that the notch previously provided and that the island is currently cutting into:

This may be an indication that the island will be less temporary than Apple initially planned, or else they should have done that from the beginning.

One thing I really appreciated about the new mac silicon is the ability to drive high impedance headphones up to 1000 ohm without the need for an external amplifier, which combined with apple music hi-res means high fidelity without the need for external dacs and amps.
I wish the new iphone ultra had the 3.5mm audio output again with the ability to drive high impedance headphones.
This is a dream but i hope so.

Size does matter but apparently larger is more enjoyed than longer. Up to a point, then it becomes too difficult to use and the pleasure is not there anymore or it can even be painful.
I must admit mine is a bit too big and that has caused me some issues when using it.
