This is probably Apple’s deliberate leak tactics at play to generate all the hype that we are giving it. This is the m3 MacBook Pro box; which kills and credibility that it could be the M4 mbp instantly. We’re all being duped here. He’s duping. He’s unboxing an m3 macbook lol. Sure the back says “M4 Chip” but that is incredibly easy to photoshop along with the other specs. 100% fake. I won’t let this fake nonsense waste any more of my time.

Go ahead and fake the Geekbench result for me.

Don't forget to fake the chassis showing 3 TB ports as well.

I suspect the Geekbench score may be real. However, I am suspicious of the video, mainly because it carefully avoids providing evidence that it is the true source of the Geekbench score.

3 TB ports are present on the other MacBook Pros - M3 Pro/Max.

so... october 7 and no date of the event, do we have to assume it's gonna be on november or december?

16 GB base RAM will mean a price hike.

Don’t care about 2 or 4 TB ports, I just wish 2 ports on any MB meant one on either side.
But with 3 ports you do get that? Hopefully, someday, at least one on each side is indeed the standard for all MBs, but at least it will be on all MBPs going forward.
Where is the tandem OLED? It's funny that iPad Pro (which will be used 99% as content consumption device) has a much better display than a MBP which mainly used as a creative device.
Some people actually prefer a miniLED displays. I am in no way holding out for an OLED display.

"Unless Tim Cook confirms this is real on live TV, it's fake!"

"It's soooo easy to do, the box can be done in Paint, the chassis using a pair of scissors, and the instruction guide with a Sharpie."
Still as fake as the day is long. Either both videos are real, or both are not. A skilled special-effects artist could do those chassis alterations in fifteen minutes. That is the M3 Pro/Max MacBook Pro 14" chassis.

Plus, to be real, the following would have to be true:

[1] Apple ships M4 preview hardware in edited M3 packaging, to prevent the M4 box art from being exposed in exactly this way if it is stolen or lost. Doesn't seem likely.
[2] Mac16,1 is the M4 MacBook Pro. That is unlikely. Most likely it is Mac16,3. There is no world in which Mac16,1 is the M4 MacBook Pro.
[3] These Russian geeks would have to be wealthy halfwits who got very lucky. Also doesn't seem very likely. More likely they are just screwing around. And I must say, mission accomplished! You have to applaud it. I didn't think my opinion of Gurman could go any lower, but there you have it. But at least Apple's Blue Team is having a good laugh.

I'll be happy to come back and admit to being wrong. Will you?

Sure, these YouTubers could be just risking their reputation for that 15 minutes of fame. In exchange, they'll get enormous downvotes and loss of subscribers at the of the month when the "truth" is revealed. Coincidentally, both were able perform the exact same "special effects" within 24 hours of each other.

Make complete sense, right?

I think there's a difference between believing it could be real, and stating it isn't real.

Lots of conflicting thoughts based on your criteria too. "Doesn't seem likely shows" some doubt, yet you're very concrete with other answers. I think since none of us knows the actual truth, we shouldn't result to stating anything as fact, on either sides of the argument.

Lots of emotion and hypotheticals in there based on what seems like are hunches?

It's funny how the camp seems to be divided between those who could see this as true and those 100% certain it is not. The ones who have to admit they are wrong later are the ones making absolute claims about the veracity of it. Those simply stating it could be real, have nothing to admit to being wrong about.

I did a strike-through edit to my comment to add the fact there is no change to the chassis. It is the 14" Space Grey M3 Pro/Max MBP chassis. No "special effects" required. You are insisting otherwise. How is that?

Looks debatable to me tbh. Didn't even come with the right color MagSafe cable then. Both unboxings have the Space Black cable included in the box of what they claim is an M4 MacBook Pro in Space Black and the second one shows the About My Mac page saying it is a M4 MacBook Pro.

You have to look at the totality of the videos presented. Sure, there's no change to the chassis, but other box contents have changed. The paper packet is missing stickers. Slight of hand? Maybe. Both videos show never before seen new packaging for the 70W adapter.

Sorry, I didn’t mean to seem emotional about it. I assure you I’m not. I was just responding to the derision from @JPack — who really doesn’t seem to be in either of the two camps you describe. He’s backpedaling now, of course, and the 70W charger packaging argument he’s currently clinging to is pretty flimsy.

I haven't backpedaled. I'm firmly in the camp these are real. Many people who don't notice small changes may think it's fake. They oversimplify how difficult it is to fake these details in 4K. There's no reason to make these small changes to appeal to a dumb audience who don't notice them.

The box packaging argument is tiring. We've seen M2/M3 MBA ship in the exact same box.

The M3 14" MBP has two TB4 ports and supports multiple monitors.

LOL, Look at the screenshot that you posted to support your incorrect rebuttal: It says "Thunderbolt / USB 4" and then "Thunderbolt 3" below that. "Thunderbolt / USB 4" does *NOT* mean "Thunderbolt 4 and USB 4".

The confusion arises because the M3 Pro and M3 Max versions *DO* have Thunderbolt 4 ports.
