It seems Astro (see website) wasn't mentioned in this topic so definitely needs the attention it deserves.
I'm currently using it since someone else mentioned in some other e-mail topic here and here.
Is it the perfect e-mail app? Nope! But for my wishes it is quite ok.

Best parts:
- show attachments above an e-mail message (must, I hate scrolling for each and every email to see the attachment) like Edison Mail (Email by Easilydo) and Outlook also offer
- quite ok UI and speed

I'm currently also using Astro due to an awfull bug that both Edison and Spark have that you can't press a link in an e-mail that shows up with e.g 'link'.

It could improve on some parts though:
* When you delete e-mails in the app and leave the app it isn't always as fast by removing the number of new e-mails on the app icon
* I would like to get rid of the AI icon in the app itself as well or change it to something usefull for me like a quick access to a folder or calendar like Spark has.
* option for multiple signatures in iOS app. I suppose HTML is supported?
* add supports to attach multiple files in one go from the cloud (e.g. Dropbox)
* add support to download and save multiple attachments in one go from an e-mail to a cloud source
* option to remove the bot icon in the app and instead show some quick features (favorite user selected folder(s), calendar if this is added at one point)
* option to either show user icons (gmail) when you show an e-mail conversation or have the option to not show any icons (currently it indicates yellow letters from the first name of the sender/receiver
* search in e-mails older then 1 year and 8 months (if there is an exact limit there or more on the amount of e-mails about a certain subject?) I've noticed with searches there seems to be a limitation so I can't find e-mails from a certain person older then April '16 while I do have these e-mails in my Gmail account in a save folder
* add a calendar and have an option to quickly access it

I'm also not 'liking' the fact that they store my e-mails on Amazon Web services (AWS) as is writen in the security and privacy policies.
- faster search results, sometimes it first indicates that there are no results, but when I search again I can find e-mails

So if Spark didn't have that nasty bug, would it still be your favourite iOS client "overall"?
Thanks to it's broad/powerful feature-set & decent/consistent UX...

Do Readdle finally have an excellent macOS client too?
Seems silly to have a great iOS client, but not an equally good macOS one too (for me at least).

Ideally Android & Win10 too (in that order of preference), but that's prolly asking for too much!:)
I like their quality of support, I've found them to be super helpful/responsive in the past.

Aside of the bug I mentioned Spark is nice (smart search, UI, speed).
It is good but definitely not perfect. I especially want to seem them finally implementing the option to show attachments above a message which Astro, Edison Mail and Outlook do have. I hate the fact to scroll all the way down in an e-mail to see/download the attachment.

So, for your needs, Astro's now the best "overall" IYE?

Yup, but as you could see in one of my previous posts I hope to see them adding more fixes/features as well.

If Spark fixes the link bug + add option to show attachments above email messages i would switch to their app again immediately due to the great smart search and option to attach multiple files in one go.

Yes, they've got a Mac app and it's quite good. I've been using it as my primary email app on two machines for the past several months.

@ksmith80209 Interesting, I don't suppose you've also used Astro Mail's client for macOS?

Seems Astro also supports Android, one of the few players in this space that do more than iOS/macOS.
I don't think I've come across anyone that does Windows 10 too...
Apart from the expensive Newton Mail, whose support I found to be very bad, esp. in light of $ outlaid!

Been using Astro Email for months. Love it. Like everyone here...tried them all and just keep using Astro. It's reliable and has what i need. Also, they just added a full blown calendar into the app which is amazing (iOS and Mac).

I did a two week Newton trial - I like the app except I can't justify $50/yr charge for an email app.

Based on the trial, I liked a few things about the app:
- connected to my office 365 work account (which can't be configured through exchange and hence I cannot use apple mail or calendar)
- push mail and low priority mailbox works really well
- prompt customer support

The things I did not like were:
- limited 3D touch features, e.g can't delete an email from a locked phone notification
- mac app look a feel
- the calendar app has a limited functionality
- cannot turn accounts on/off for different devices

I have tried most other apps as well and if Newton had a better pricing model I would go for it.

For now, the search continues..

I wish they supported icloud and outlook email accounts.

The hope to add support in the near future according to their FAQ: https://help.helloastro.com/account-settings-and-preferences/email-providers

Astro plans to support IMAP, Exchange, Outlook
  • In the future, we expect to support other email providers, including those that use the IMAP protocol such as iCloud, FastMail, and Yahoo Mail, as well as Hotmail, and Outlook.com
  • We're also evaluating our timeline for supporting Microsoft Exchange
  • However, we don't have a timeline to announce for these yet, as they are much less frequently used as workplace email services

I recently tried Email by Edison. Was promising at the start but found U can’t filter by unread which is totally stupid.
I’ve gone back to Outlook for iPhone - seems to be most reliable & does what I need it to.

The calendar they added on iOS is really handy. Do you also have the 'problem' though that when you open the app and e.g. have one new e-mail that you first have to scroll up to see it while it is in fact already there. That is a thing since recent updates and they didn't fix it yet.

I noticed this problem yesterday when I had priority mail toggled off. When I toggled priority mail on the problem seemed to go away.

I have priority mail off as well. I just turned it on and restarted the app but it makes no difference here. Seems like a bug though.

Astro is cool but what iOS Developer sets up a Client for iOS without Support for iOS Calendars. Thats just plain stupid. I would rather see outlook and iCloud Accounts supported than a halfbake calender. I am on beta iOS so no Chance of pósting a Review on appstore as Support of astro is a joke.

Great app, very wierd devs

Your English is far better than my [insert any other language here]! When you say "untreated" do you mean "unread" email? If so, Spark DOES have an unread email view.

When I get multiple e-mails from the same subject but from different people, it's all in the same conversation.

I think he meant "unthreaded", not sure it's officially an English word, "non-threaded"?
I think unthreaded is potentially "more correct"....

Then again, English is riddled with unofficial words that people still happily use...
It's also riddled with organisations who claim to be the authority/gate-keeper for the language.

But I digress.... :)
