although you do NOT need to subscribe or pay any money to get the most out of Newton.

The one thing I’m not a fan of is that after the trial is over, there is a pop up each time I open a message prompting me to subscribe.

Ah, I'm not sure. I always paid for the pro subscription. I am VERY anti app subscriptions but this app is essential for my workflow. I somehow got a discount on it as well.

As I was using the app last night, they had 20% off for 24 hours. I took advantage of the price and connected both my Yahoo and Gmail accounts to it. The fact that I paid for the app will certainly force me to continue using the app until the subscription is up for renewal. I have a tendency with the free email apps to use them for a period of time, only to go back to the stock mail app.

Yeah complete opposite experience...<SNIP> I used Spark for a while but it doesn't have what I need...<SNIP>

Some fair points, thanks for sharing your differing/divergent experiences!

I tried Send it later feature in Astro mail (and most likely other apps work similarly) ... it should really be called Show up in the inbox later instead of Send it later (or some other wording) because when the email is received it shows the time when you sent it not the future time you set it to be sent... just that in the recipient's inbox it shows up at the set time showing the original sent time. Although, it's fair to show the original sent time for avoiding any confusion, but then it's not Send it later.

I like how newton is along with it’s other benefits the most battery efficient mail app I have used on iOS.

The read receipts is great btw!

I just started using Newton and I am really impressed with the power of there program, not to mention setting up many email accounts was made painless. I also like that I don't have to manually setup all the email accounts on each device. And being able to know when someone reads my email is a big plus for me.

I made use of the Two-Step Verification, made 1Password the app authenticator, and then made it viewable on my AW. I am good to go. Newton also gave me 20% off.

I checked out Newton. It's a nice application, but not that nice. $50 a year for the privilege of using it seems steep, especially if you consider it costs $80 a year to get an entire office suite from Microsoft and Apple's email app is totally free.

Unfortunately Newton is shutting down, which is annoying because it’s an awesome app and it’s been quite hard to find an alternative that has all the features. After trying out Airmail, Polymail, and Spark, I’ve settled on Astro for now. Great email app for iOS and Mac. I wish it did account color coding in unified inbox but oh well.

Too bad for you that Newton is shutting down. I also use Astro. I especially love the UI and that it shows the attachments above a message instead of below it (Spark, Airmail). I did notice recently with Astro that it had issues with showing the badge icon although settings in the Apple notifications settings and in the app were fine. Since a couple of days it works fine again. I was using Spark besides it for the badge icon matter and to be honest I love the search from Spark a lot more since it searches a lot better and faster also in really old e-mails.

3rd-party apps seem to have issues with badge notifications. When it's a new app, it works fine but as time goes, seems to get issues updating notifications... maybe because of their server capacity or Google tweaking some settings in the background. Gmail app has gotten better but Outlook is still fast as far as badge notifications goes and for some reason Apple's stock Mail app is way too slow.

Same. I am quite annoyed. The main featured I loved was the ability to sync multiple emails accounts to ONE account ... across multiple devices. Does anyone know of another mail app that can do that?

I'm really pissed too cause I've using Newton since cloud magic days in Android. I love the UI and how clean it's fonts. I also subscribed to it when it was on sale for $25. I have a feeling that cloud magic will come up with another email app with a new name and probably start at a higher subscription. I'm thinking they closing Newton to get rid of cheap subscribers like me.

I disagree. I don't believe we will see anymore email apps from this company. I believe if they had stayed at $25.00 a year, they would have had a lot more long term subscribers.

I don't understand why they just didn't stay CloudMagic. I think the rebrand to Newton is what hurt them. It was like one day the app was free as CloudMagic and the next is a charged app as Newton.

For those using Airmail, make sure the option to autoload remote images is turned off on both the Mac and iOS app, unless you want others being able to see when you open email and what you do with it etc.

As previously mentioned, if you are like me and recently purchased Airmail, native read receipt ability is unavailable. You need a plugin which can be found here.

Along the same lines of security and privacy, I don't recommend enabling Push notifications for your email accounts (regardless of email app). Even though Airmail has a decent privacy policy, it is best to keep your email credentials on your phone, and not stored on servers, even if the credentials are encrypted.

With the Canary app, there is a toggle that is clearly labeled to block incoming read receipts.

I just heard about Newton shutting down. Sucks because I subscribed through April 2019. But I heard they will offer partial refunds, which is nice. I’ll most likely go back to Spark.

With the imminent demise of Newton, I decided to give Canary a shot (I've also got Spark, but have always been a bit leery of the "free" model). So far, Canary is pretty awesome. I don't use the PGP options, but the rest is great. Nice UI, lots of options, pretty much everything Newton had... and for less money.

can anyone recommend a @?????.com?
besides the popular and nosey grApple, Gaagle, Yahooed, Microsort, and Hotsmail?
nothing fancy at all and mac friendly.

I'm also a fan of Canary. It's a privacy somewhat solution and it's also a great app with a lot of features. I use it already a few months and I don't think that I will change to anything else. And I'm also a little bit suspicious about the "free" alternatives.
