But they didnt and STILL does not and unwilling to leave EU. Wonder why…Honestly they should, they should have a long time ago instead of dealing with gov nonsense

Those minority users must have been blessed then, able to make EU changes their mind. The only users wanting this are a very vocal minority going on And on.
I see. I hate needing to carry dedicated cable for Apple stuff, so there it goes. USB-C is not perfect, but then Apple refuses to benefit USB-C with their lightning physical design.I may not even upgrade past the 15 pm/ios 17 since I hate USB c and these future rumored iOS 18 charges.
Same old people sitting in the board room today. Except they don’t have to respond to shareholder anymore, and enjoy far less scrutiny than today from no longer being a publicly traded company.Wish they would but then who will run and make draconian changes when you complain iOS is not like lagdroid and is still a closed platform like it always has been.
That or it benefits the EU financially. See Spotify. Those minority users must have been blessed then, able to make EU changes their mind.
Maybe SOME users do have enough power after all.
Oh no it’s so hard to find the app I want to use at the website of the vendor. No one could ever figure it out!Because you only deal with one store and one store owner for every possible software which could be distributed to consumers (en masse).
Just take a look at macOS for a more complex system which is more difficult to use.
Why, this is for those who have a Patreon account. If I had a Patreon account, I would be delighted to get an App from a store that does not charge the developer 30% again (don't know what the terms of integration between Patreon and Altstore are). I am sure it will not be 30%.Having 3rd party app stores is really looking like a crapshow. Saw that coming a mile away. More of a garbage experience than anything else. Really struggling to see ANY sort of benefit from this bs mandate.
Oh no, maybe people like having everything come from one place instead of having to go to multiple places. Ever consider that? Is it difficult to get apps on the Mac? No. Is it annoying having to go to multiple places to get apps and would it be much more convenient to be able to get them all in one place? Absolutely! The app experience on Mac would be FAR BETTER if the ONLY place I had to go was the App Store. But no, instead, I have to go to multiple vendor websites for multiple apps. None from the same place and my payment information has to be put out into even more places.Oh no it’s so hard to find the app I want to use at the website of the vendor. No one could ever figure it out!
That’s exactly what it does. Look no further than the fact that the EU keeps threatening to fine based on “worldwide” revenue…something they should have absolutely ZERO right to. The EU should be limited to issuing fines based on revenue from within their economic area. Anything outside of that makes it look like exactly what it is…a money grab. That or it benefits the EU financially. See Spotify.

The app experience on Mac is absolute crap and something I don’t want to have to deal with on my phone.
Now that’s funny 😂😂😂 What people? “We” who? Because outside of MR…I’m sure you’ll find it very difficult to find ANYONE in the average user base who actually wants this.Well, sorry. You can’t always get what you want. Apple has been running the App Store since 2008 and they showed everyone they can’t do it without self-dealing and egregious mismanagement constantly reported by app developers
Democracy has spoken. People don’t like the way it is and we want it to change
Damn, it’s kinda crazy how all of the people that deal with this kind of thing professionally don’t seem to agree with you. If only they had consulted with you first we could have avoided this whole ugly misunderstanding. Now that’s funny 😂😂😂 What people? “We” who? Because outside of MR…I’m sure you’ll find it very difficult to find ANYONE in the average user base who actually wants this.
Constantly reported by developers? Which ones? If it’s constantly reported, you should have no trouble providing examples other than Meta, Epic, and Spotify. Show me the small developers who screamed so loudly for this. I won’t hold my breath.
Democracy didn’t speak here. A power hungry government did. Democracy speaking would be the majority of the user base calling for this and it happening. But that’s not what happened. Democracy isn’t a government forcing their will in an “our way or else” manner with zero consideration of potential risks and consequences. This wasn’t “democracy speaking”. This was clear government overreach. End of story. Have a nice night.
Make apple a private company or petition Apple to pull out of EU entirely. Or do both. After then, EU cannot demand Apple to do whatever EU likes, I am confident.
Just as with real world brick and mortar stores.Since a lot of people need to understand or have basic business acumen. Most developers will not make more money selling directly or placing their app in a lower volume App Store. Let us look at the numbers: say you sell your app for $5, average about 5,000 downloads a month from the Apple App Store, and pay a 15% commission. So that is a gross of $25,000 and a net of $21,250. Now, let's say you can get about 1,000 monthly sales from a store that only changes 5%. So that is a gross of $5000 and a net of $4,750, which is a difference of $16,500.
Benefiting everyone but the user.Having 3rd party app stores is really looking like a crapshow. Saw that coming a mile away. More of a garbage experience than anything else. Really struggling to see ANY sort of benefit from this bs mandate.
I got windscribe vpn lifetime for 39 bucks years ago. You just need to look little bit more.Oh yes. Some developers offer different pricing. Taking PortonVPN, one yes subscription on Android is $74.88, whereas iOS is $99.

This is just one example.
Clearly, by just offering different way of paying, I save $24 dollars for exactly samething.
Thanks for bringing this up. There is an upcoming election to the EU parliament. I have searched for how the current MPs voted for the DMA but I haven't been able to find it. I would appreciate if anyone could share a link as it would influence how I will vote in the election. Thanks....

For: 588. Against: 11. Abstentions: 31. In total, 630 MEPs voted. 75 MEPs didn’t vote.

And everyone else?I’m sure the open source developers I was referring to would be thrilled about their work being shared over torrents as it would help minimize the overhead cost of storage and bandwidth.
No, the preamble describes the purpose and meaning of the legislation and guidelines for its interpretationSome of you focus on this too much on this, together with article 6(7).
This part of the DMA deals with interoperability with features also used by the gatekeeper for complementary services. It also only applies to alternate service and hardware providers and not necessarily all business users.
The EU Commission isn't investigating Apple at all when it comes to article 6(7). Not even for the core developer fee.
Remember what Facebook replaced before them?Until a number of the big players decide to jump ship and go with a whole host of alternative app stores in order to avoid the Apple Tax (convenience fee) e.g. Adobe, Microsoft, Spotify, Tidal etc ...
