I thought it would grow on me but I'm just hating it more and more. Awful
Same here. Very obstructive compared to iOS 14.I thought it would grow on me but I'm just hating it more and more. Awful
My god, what an absolute HOT MESS.. windows and tabs closing just randomly. I’m going to have to go through the headache of doing the full downgrade and restore.. this just ain’t going to work for the next couple months. I may NEVER upgrade to iOS 15 if this is what we can expect, usability and reliability.
It’s not a COMPLETE mess. The new Start Page is great IMO. Having all of that content syncing across multiple devices and in the same spots has been great. I‘m also a fan of the new Tab Groups. If they just put the Address Bar back to the top, or at least provided some kind of accessibility option to have it at the top or bottom, I think most people would be happy. They took away direct access to certain items, sure. But they did that in Mail back in iOS 13. Remember when there was an option for Delete All in the Trash and Junk Mail folders? Those were good times…I agree - it is a complete mess. What Apple designer felt like they actually made Safari better with this beta. Apple is easy fix, just go back to the old safari as nothing is improved in the new one.
What Apple seems to be going for is “Accessibility“, in having the URL Bar at the bottom. But for what little that gains, it makes it seem like a lesser browser. Like someone clearly made a mistake in putting it there and then they forgot to put it back. There’s far too many web sites out there I’ve been to since using Safari on iOS 15 that behave very wonky. Many times on various sites I’ve managed t inadvertently press a link or something.. And again, the bar at the top is still there. You can still press it to quickly get to the top of any page.Browser choice isn’t a big deal to me because for work I use multiple browsers on multiple platforms. Browsers change all the time and I always adapt so I had very little opinion on the new Safari. But after a few weeks I have to say… I hate it.
I’m going to continue trying to adapt but overall these changes seem so unintuitive, my workflow is much slower and I just dont get what Apple is going for.
This last point is this thing for me for Sure. Workflow using Safari for many many things is just slower and it’s not just lack of conditioning to new elements. Why would they move or hide elements, making for more taps/touches or select drags, etc. If you want to make pull down activate refresh, great, but dont’ take it away from the tab or URL bar.Browser choice isn’t a big deal to me because for work I use multiple browsers on multiple platforms. For those with larger iPhones... not having to reach up at the very top to access the URL is a huge gain for them (I know Reachability feature helps with that). What Apple seems to be going for is “Accessibility“, in having the URL Bar at the bottom. I just wanna permanently hide the address bar unless I tap on it. Is that too much to ask? It gets in the way so much that I'd rather just have it constantly minimized until I need it.
Long press on the bottom address bar, show bookmarks. I find it intuitive and I’m liking it. (Only installed ios15 on my iPhone yesterday so still getting used to its differences) So far so good 😎Another request to go back to old Safari. To get to my bookmarks is such a nuisance. Bottom of the page and then top of the page. Cripes. What a mess.
I’m confused… what do you mean by this? Or you referring to the compact or separate option?Loving the redesign overall still. Changing the menu button to the share button was probably not the right move and I bet they’ll put it back, but otherwise new Safari is the perfect browser for me.
And the idea behind the Feedback app is to get feedback from people like us. So, they’re making changes, yes, to appease the critics. More changes are needed.I’m confused… what do you mean by this? Or you referring to the compact or separate option?
At this point, under the compact option of Safari… they have a Share Button underneath the Menu Button AND have a standalone Share Button that’s outside the Menu Button. And it’s annoying to look at. I enjoy the new redesign, but they are making changes trying to appease the critics.
The idea behind the compact option is to make it compact, yet… Apple adds a new button. The ”Add a New Tab” Button is perfectly placed, but there’s no need for the standalone Share Button (imo).
