I've 100% given up. Just received another response

"dear ebay member.
let us thank you for your question regarding this matter.

we will notify you with tracking # soon , if your item didnt shipped today it will be shipped tomorrow.
best regards from all usedsnoopy teamwork."

I was made aware of this by my brother and I've been following this forum. I've decided to file a dispute with paypal and my credit card. If it comes then I'll cancel the dispute, but I would rather be safe than sorry.

Good luck to everyone

I actually sent him a question about shipping from the macbook pro ebay listing (i had ordered a MBA). From the MBP listing i got a one line response: "You will get it tomorrow", then when i asked from my actual winning listing i got the same as what others are getting, "thank you, blah blah", i have a feeling it's definitely more than one person scamming...i mean working as the seller.

Not sure if i should just start a dispute now, or wait until tomorrow

Hmm wouldn't ebay say "you have a question about his Macbook Pro" and then he'd assume you bought one and give you the shipping info for those? He isn't going to check whether your lying about having bought one.

His MBPs could have shipped out earlier then the MBAs.

I'm not saying he isn't scamming, I'm just saying I don't think this points to it in any way.

Was thinking, this guy is selling a dozen MBP's that are top of the line, and selling a dozen MBA that are the cheaper model (vs the one with SSD). Makes me think that if in fact he ships the laptop, they are probably stolen as they are stacks of one type of system. If it was a scam why not state it is the SSD model and jack up the price more and make more money. He probably bought these all with fake credit cards and now offloading them on ebay.
If anyone does receive it, make sure u check online or call apple with the serial # before opening the box to make sure it's not stolen.

What I meant to say is it seemed two different people were writing the msg. I'm on my iPhone so i unfortunately can't copy paste what he wrote, but the msg seemed to be written by someone else.

Hey atleast if they're stolen you might have a better chance of getting your line-ridden Macbook Air replaced

Uh how does that work. I wouldn't count on it.

Apple can check the serial number of the computer when it requests software updates i believe... I'm assuming if a system is bought with a fake credit card, the serial number registers as stolen or whatever, then when ur mac connects to apples servers i'm pretty sure ur serial number is transferred with it.

Receiving stolen property is still a crime even if you didn't know it was stolen.

Huh, how does that work? Let's imagine you went to an Apple Store to purchase a new computer. You're telling me if you were unlucky and got a dishonest employee who somehow managed to pass off a stolen unit as a new unit and sold it to you without your knowledge - that you'd be committing a crime?

HAd it happen to me - but I am in Vancouver Canada. I had to end up going in for an interview with a detective - lots of questions about the seller - they wanted to see if there was a connection - like maybe i KNEW the seller from my group of friends etc etc....

I had to prove i did not know the person - and did not know it was stolen...

Wasn't from a store -but from a laptop purchase through an online ad.

Cops contacted me about 1 month after i bought it.....

They told me since I didn't KNOW what was going in - they wouldn't pursue anything against me.

My Q&A to seller. You guys should file a dispute on Pay Pal or Credit card company. I personally prefer CC because they will credit you immediately. Pay Pal will take months.

Consumer demand for hot new products at huge discounts is fueling organized retail crime, with goods stolen from retailers finding an audience in secondary markets like the web, a retail trade group said.

Black markets for stolen goods can be deceptively bright: flea markets, swap meets and corner markets teeming with bargain hunters, as well as online auction sites like eBay Inc and classified sites like craigslist.com, LaRocca said.

Some 85 percent of retailers surveyed by the NRF last year said they had been victims of organized retail crime.
Moreover, respondents estimated that nearly 40 percent of goods sold on auction websites advertised as "new in box" were stolen or fraudulently obtained.

Man that's some scary stuff. Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty. Just seems wrong to me if the law really works this way for purchased goods.

Actually, that's good. If it was your stuff that was stolen you would want/expect some kind of investigation.

Looks like it's a scam. I just received this from Ebay regarding the auction.

Thanks for your interest in this :

120380750479 - MacBook Air 1.6 GHz 2 GB RAM 120GB NEW SEALED IN BOX

Unfortunately, the item is no longer available for purchase. This is disappointing for everyone, but sometimes it's necessary to protect you as a buyer.

There are three main reasons why we remove listings:

-- The listing doesn't follow eBay guidelines.
-- The item isn't allowed on eBay or can only be listed under certain conditions.
-- The listing contains pictures or words in it that may have created copyright or trademark issues.

If the seller is able to fix the problem and relist the item, we hope you'll bid on it again.

We apologize for the inconvenience and have many other great deals on eBay. Just go to http://www.ebay.com to continue your shopping today. We hope to see you soon.

Thank you,

eBay Inc.

Let's get the story behind his sales...

I just sent a message to UsedSnoopy on ebay with the link to this thread.

If he's legit he'll respond, if not he's running for the hills.
