That’s not what I signed up and paid a year in advance for.

This will end in a class action lawsuit where current subscribers get something just this side of worthless out of the deal and the lawyers involved get rich.

Don’t be so harsh. Mr. Bezos really needs the (extra) money. Those yachts and private jets are not for free…
Hey, you don't expect the billionaire to fly coach and suffer an inner state room on Carnival, do ya?

He hasn't been the Amazon CEO since 2021.

Bezos is the largest stockholder of Amazon. He water skis behind THAT yacht pretty regularly. So to speak.

The shipping times are a joke and now this? I just cancelled Netflix……will bin this when my subscription runs out. Scummy move 🤬 the world needs to send these greedy b@$t@rd$ a message…but it won’t😢
What makes it scummy by the way?

if at all, this should only be implemented when a sub runs out, not in the middle of a contract, (unless of course it's hidden in the small print that the VAST majority of people CHOOSE to ignore.

I’m going to say this is absolute lie. There will be more ads and interruption than linear tv in long run to encourage users to sign up for ad free option.
Everybody complained about linear TV, but at least I could record anything on any channel to watch when I wanted, and freely fast forward through ads and not have to worry about starting a show part way in.

With all these streaming platforms, they either lock out fast forward, so if you need to rewind you’re forced to rewatch everything after that spot; or they lock out fast forwarding over ads to make sure they are shown.

Unpopular opinion, but linear TV was simply better. Same high cost as streaming, but fewer restrictions on how you experience the content.

Their email read like a desperate plea -- their first paragraph mentions the price hike and 'why' they're doing it. The rest of the message was a VERY lengthy list of all the reasons why Prime remains a 'compelling value' to members. It came across as a pathetic attempt to justify the price hike.

For all its promise, streaming is no different than cable these days -- and annoying a.f. to manage, too. Thank gods for disposable credit cards in case you forget to cancel one of 'em!

Mark my words -- a year from now, the streaming companies will be wailing loudly about how 'piracy' is an existential threat. Can't imagine why....

How about a lower monthly cost Prime option with no Prime Video? Their content is mostly sub par.

Their content is superior to Netflix and constellations better than Apple TV+. It is perhaps the only service with a catalogue of shows from all the other companies, plus their originals are good: The Marvelous Miss Maisel, The Wheel of Time, The Boys, etc.

I use Prime Video even less than Apple TV+, which is saying something. I get them both because I get a lot of value out of Apple One Premier and Prime for other reasons.

So, when The Boys Season 4 hits, I’ll go the hooky route. Hey, I paid for it…technically XD!

Combo of great adblockers, YouTube Premium and long since ceasing to watch live sports and terrestrial tv (UK) means I rarely/never see ads. Glorious. Any costs incurred are largely negated by stopping paying the TV license in the last decade. I don’t watch/listen to any BBC content either.

I disagree. Their new shows are disappointing lately. Even the new Bosch got moved to their add streaming service.

Netflix is probably still the best, although I prefer Paramount+ and Apple TV.
