"... Launch 2H 2017 ... "

In other words, probably had very little to do with an upcoming Mac Pro. Curious that the shipping site has Dracrays listed as "Fiji" listed.

2H 2017 and shipping in near future doesn't make much sense. Dracrays perhaps being a new class of cards rather than a specific one.

An immediate term, Fiji model with Optane (Xpoint) like SSD would make sense to ship in near future while wait another year for a Vega refresh. The SSD is jacking the price sky high and an integrated "faster storage tier" Optane like device would do that.

None of this inside the thermal envelope of a likely Mac Pro update...... so way out, deep in the swamp in terms of relevancy. Fire breathing dragon is likely an accurate assessment of the TDP on this thing.

In new AMD drivers there is 5th device ID linked to next Fury/Fiji GPU. This referes most likely to the rumored Dracarys board.

AMD is now lowering prices on 470 and 460.

Yet another reason I would not expect Apple to select something on the super bleeding edge of the product line up lifecycle. Gives times for the macOS drivers to catch up to Windows ( and probably Linux) and the BoM costs are likely lower (fatter margins for Apple).

I think that the FirePro GPUs come out before the consumer ones, usually, so it may not take that long.

Actually the opposite is true. Workstation cards usually come out after consumer GPUs, since demand is usually higher on the consumer side. For instance the Polaris based workstation cards are supposed to only hit the market this quarter.

dec, I didn't say that had anything to do with the MacPro. I was just looking at the price tag. I sure wasn't hoping to see that on the nMP, no thermal headroom for sure. And 2 of those would make the nMP 30k or so...

In the case of Vega I believe we will see WS cards coming out first, I believe that was mentioned before.
[doublepost=1477221364][/doublepost]There are some interesting bits in that shipping manifest.
Fiji must be a mistake there since the cards are D02... that's Vega almost for sure.
Then there's the D09... which seems to be a even higher end part.
And the MXM 8GB Ellesmere XT parts... Could those be for the nMP?

1050 on 14nm process has clocks around 1300~1400. Seems right with what it's known.
And price cuts from AMD (460 and 470) to counter the new Pascal cards.

when the price is lower they are competitive ^^ just with different cards, but unless we get gtx10xx support i just want to see the ATI cards work well and be cheep.

is that a pic of trump, :E?

So no eGpu thunderbolt display neither rx480 eGpu despite those "facts" from kext decipher gurus.

As I a anticipated eGpu display Is a no sense in Apple ecosystem, even I anticipated that a Thunderbolt Display on 5k and thunderbolt 3 will be limited and have no capability to Daisychain thunderbolt 3 peripherals beyond usb3 audio and web cam, also sources anticipate non Apple solutions.

There will be a Mac loaded with rx470 480 at some point Apple has to release updated iMac and Mac Pros. While the Mac Pro may delay a bit more waiting for Vega GPU or nVidia GPU ( I don't buy that Apple is self hand cuffed with AMD if they don't control AMD)

it may be just leftovers from internal testing of prototypes or maybe they where trying out different ATI cards.

The Radeon Pro 460 being based on Polaris 11 means the full Polaris 11 die has in fact 16 CUs with 1024 cores? And the Radeon RX 460 is not the full fat die? So, will we see a RX465 fully enabled?
AMD is starting to look like (insert your take here) with the naming scheme. The RX 4x5 was reserved for the 2nd gen improved GPUs. Now, they already have a 455, and although it's a Pro and not an RX, still adds to the confusion.
nMP must be waiting on Radeon Pro 475 and 485 and Vega.

If Apple is waiting on new ATI chips - it's time to kiss the Mac Pro line goodbye.

Or at least send the trash can design to the trash can and come up with a system that is much more flexible as to the cards, power supply and cooling. The MP6,1 design was a bad mistake - Apple should put it alongside the Cube and move on.

Why are we still calling it ATI?! After all these years?!
I still hope we'll be surprised.
Because many years ago ATI left a bad taste in my mouth that has never disappeared. Abusive customer support for mediocre products.

And AMD split the ATI division out in preparation for a buyout - so the old ATI group is now separate from AMD.

And "RTG" means "Real Time Gaming", so using the new acronym for ATI is flat out wrong. ;)
