I started this off with a picture of a special person, who most people would think very fondly of. But so far I've neglected to include another very special person. I grew up watching his magic in films, and I love them all. But the film that I loved most was The Fischer King. It's still one of my favourite films today. Such a shame that we lost him the way we did. Robin Williams........❤️

I’m no photography expert, but your framing and choice of shot are great. Love these photos. Sorry to hear about your mum.
Agreed. That view with the palm trees and grass framing the beach and waves? I didn't think those places existed in real life, I thought they were fantasies photoshopped by travel agencies... Beautiful indeed.

So I think this is a bit off topic, and forgive my lack of familiarisation with forum norms when posting some time after the last time it was active..but, this interview with Bowie I thought was worth sharing for those who have not seen it. I'm no expert on him or his music but have always respected him, just listen to his perspective here, especially on his understanding of the scope of the internet, and note what year it was recorded!

I was originally brought to that interview in appreciation of conquering alcoholism.

My battles on that front are but a twinkle in the eye of such an experience, but--truly--to better understand Deep Bowie--really is an appreciation of beauty :)

Yes, huge respect to him for overcoming that and appreciating the value in his relationships. I've had my own problems, heavy drinking since about 20, I'm 47 now. Not long ago got a phone call from my doctor, stop now. I have fatty liver. I'm doing ok these days, bit more mature. Bit more settled. Everyone's problem's with it are individual, for some it's so bad they can't get away from it. I would never judge, I just feel very lucky after all the damage I've done, that I'm still here, and not currently addicted to it. Very best wishes for you to continue to stay healthy!

On the subject of drinking, and livers. This amazing young man, who through no fault of his own, other health problems. Ended up with serious liver problems. He was positive, brave, and a heck of a fighter. Sadly, he lost his battle.

But his story is very moving. As someone who had faced possible liver problems, I looked at his story from two angles. One, this is how bad it gets. So stop. The other, this is how bad it gets, get prepared. It should act as a motivation to stop drinking, but even though it's so profound, people with drinking problems know, often nothing can stop it.

But it's very raw at times, and I've felt very inspired by his strength...

Perhaps not beautiful for all, but coming at this as a retro computer enthusiast. And an Amiga 500 user as a child...the legendary religious war between the ST and Amiga owners, I joke, but it's part true. I adored my Amiga, never disliked the ST, but back then the sound was disappointing compared to how lush it was on the Amiga...latterly I have come to really appreciate the ST, in it's STFM form, as well as other iterations. Some benefits of the Atari...built in power unit, no brick. Built in RF modulator, no dongle. Boots to its OS, no floppy disc needed. Has a reset switch for convenience. Built in Midi..and the design I find very appealing too actually. There are good points about the Amiga also, special custom chipset, Workbench could multitask, etc...But I am having a love affair with the Atari ST...Recently got what to me as a young person was only a legend. An Atari ST as good as the Amiga? Well, yes...latest and most precious retro purchase...the Atari STE...

Most Apple products, with the possible exception of a couple, have been beautifully designed. Some things seemed like a good idea at the time but had problems, like my old Core 2 Duo iMac with the clear plastic keyboard case that showed all the muck inside it!

From the iconic original design of the first iMac, that was so successful. Up until now with the unbelievably slim Apple silicon iMacs. Even though it has its limitations, for example, if you wanted a bigger screen, how would the design accommodate this practically? This is the design of the iMac I find most appealing. I never used one, nor owned one. But I always thought it was lovely.....

While aesthetically pleasing from a purely visual level, any design/packaging/electronic/product engineer must've been screaming inside, silently, when Mr. Jobs proposed that form factor. How many IC boards/batteries/converters/ plug outputs/ICs have a rounded edge, bottom, or even corner, to fit into that thing?? Augh!

Perhaps I could share this? A video of a man involved with Lamborghini, who I think was a test driver on the original Countach. One of my all time favourite super cars. Such a real Beauty..a lovely video...
