I just want a new ipod.

A new ipod needs a public display with fanfare - an update to the mbp just needs a store refresh, and the news will spread.

Now the question is - will they be in stock immediately?

I dunno, I wouldn't get your hopes up, the big updates tend to pull a lot of the international stores down at the same time.

/Waits to be proved wrong within the hour

if its today then WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
I ordered a macbook from amazon more than a week ago, its gonna be here today!!. If there is a new macbook, I could easily return it brand new and get the latest model.
If it isn't, then I'm screwed. Its my first mac. what should I do?
Keep it or return it?(if theres no new macbook today)
plz help!!!

It would also destroy the sales in stores worldwide, with buyers over here in the UK and elsewhere knowing full well that its pointless to buy until our respective stores are updated too!!

if sony and microsoft can do it for gaming consoles, apple can do it with computers.

damn.. i was called into emergency meeting and i come back and there are 2 more pages to this thread.. lol!!

altho the UK store is still UP!!

so i'm assuming this isn't a product update? and that they only put that page up cos of the tech probs..

(sorry, ididnt get time to read thru those 2 pages of posts!! lol)

Except they're changing their policies on these as well. The Xbox 360 got a worldwide launch, and the PS3 is expected to have the same.

360 didn't get a worldwide launch, we waited for much longer than the US and Europe.

gosh i hate the suspense of this stuff. it's just like during the keynote.. "STEVE! STOP TALKING! I want the store to come back online so we can see what's NEW!!"

Im starting to think this is some kind of maintenance.... When there are product updates, they've always followed the same pattern. Stores in Europe often go down first, one by one, the US store often goes offline as much as 20 minutes later. And it's 3pm here in the UK now, its usually all over by now.

but why would they only update the US store and not others?

Cant compare it to Apple notebooks/computers. A console is updated once in 4 years. Whereas the computer can be updated twice a year.

Good point. I'm going to prepare my dinner, at least then I won't think about this and it'll all be over when I'm back.

I might even get some work done then.
