I imagine when they do store updates they probably are copying from some staging server to the production store server.

I always wonder what takes them so long. :p :)

no no just teasin.. sorry, i just got back from class and when i saw the US store down i assumed all of 'em were. haven't read backwards much to find out all the details.

like someone just mentioned, the canadian store is also down..

what the heck is going on, on the otherside of the pond? ;)

Stores in Europe often go down first, one by one, the US store often goes offline as much as 20 minutes later. And it's 3pm here in the UK now, its usually all over by now.

I did not think we were going to get updates today (looks like I may be wrong), however while it is usual for the non USA store to go down first, I can think of a number of occasions ( most recently WWDC this year) when the US site went off line first and the UK did not get updated until much later.
 
Maybe it's because they need to halt current orders. If someone who didn't know the MBP's were going to be updated was placing an order just before the store was updated, imagine how confused they'd be when the spec was up just as they ordered?

when amazon updates its store, do they take the whole thing down? not a chance.. i also dont understand why it takes so long..

obviously to keep suckers like us keeping our tongues wagging :D

They can do it within miliseconds. But they take so much time only to tease us. I`m sure they are having one helluva time laughing at our anticipation right now. :mad:
