So for all who are hoping for a MBP or MB upgrade for tomorrow, what will you do if it isn't announced tomorrow? And, alternately, if it isn't announced next week?

Heyyyyyyyyyy .... Tuesday, 5th September is going to be Mac Mini day!!! lol

I will be mightily pissed off as i have just bought a MB on Sunday.

I reckon the iPods will be late September/October. The first iPod was October 2001 so it will tye in with the 5 year anniversary.

Hi!

I know most of you are "US" folkes etc. So what time GMT in the UK is the right kinda time for "Tuesday launch time" as it's 11:15 and nothing has changed in the store yet.

I'm about as much use as a chocolate teapot when it comes to time zones etc.! :D

It usually goes offline about 1.30pm in the UK.

I figure, if it doesn't come today, the best bet would be on the 12th of Septembre... with Apple Expo in Paris.

if it doesn't get announced by then, I'll buy myself an simple core duo mbp anyway... my old laptop gave up on me (not apple...)

grtz,

Julien

Thankfully i can write (a bit:p) so if the meroms are not unleashed on the mac community soon ill have to buy a pen and paper for the first week of uni starting 25th sept!

I'm getting quite antsy myself at the moment about what the big announcement will be.

I'm hoping it'll be a CPU upgrade for the MB/MPBs - whether it be a Merom or a speed bump - because i'm heading back to college at the end of September and I want to get the best value for money.

I don't want to have my Mac arrive and then find out that the Meroms will be shipping in a month's time...i will be enormously p.o.'d if that happens! I got stung like that with a Dell machine, had it about 2 weeks when Dell released a faster CPU model with more RAM for the same price!

I'm sure some people here might say "Serves you right for buying Dell!" :D

I dotn have that problem its just if i was to hand work in that was handwritten i would probably lose more marks purely because noone can read my writing! its like the last effort of a dying spider bleeding across some paper!:p

don't think it's going to happen today guys. when macbooks were released, the UK store was already down at this very exact time.

Yeah, but it was down for ages - about two hours or so.

The store usually goes down at 10:30pm my time/1:30pm London time. Still about an hour left. It has been later too, I'd say between 10:30pm and 11:30pm my time. (GMT+10).

Wait a little longer, most of the time I've watched the store come back online after midnight so we've got a while yet to go.

i see..

well in that case, bring on the mbp's! ;)

in all seriousness, i hope they release them but i am not holding my breath like some people. want want want want want...not a need...

Another Tuesday, another day spent checking if the Apple Store is down constantly (or almost, the browser has to refresh) :)

Unfortunately I don't think it is going to be today the UK store normally goes down about 12.00 local time and it is now 12.43. Sometimes it goes down a little after 12.00 but not normally this late.

I really dont think there is a science to when the store goes down. I know they generally update everyhting at certain times but al the pages will have been designed etc ready to go up....

...they could wait til the 11th hour and still.....

....but i doubt that today will be the day as much as i wanted it to be :(

You guys are funny, it is very very early on the West Coast. I am in Central time and its just now 7:00 am in the morning, and I think they are 2 or 3 hours behind us. Us Americans, are just now waking up!
Have some patience:D

hmm... just so you don't get disappointed again, merom doesn't give much more juice than yonah. period. not at least until santa rosa will you even see anything substantial.

of course, that is unless you are among the 1% of people who really use your current mac to 99% most of the times (ibook... IBOOK? YOU USE IBOOK AND YOU THINK YOU'LL NOTICE THE DIFFERENCE? no offend to you personally, but the stuff you can run on ibook will not make a difference on mbp yonah and mbp merom)

also, if you are really among the 1% of ppl aforementioned, you would be using mac pro (or at least powermac g5, quad) instead of imac

again, no offend, but i really cannot stand every body to think that yonah is not gonna be enough for them for some reason, or that merom is gonna do something for them that yonah cannot... c'mon people, wake up, yonah 2.16 is an overkill for most of people already.

(yup i just said that)

Yes, I'll notice the difference and my iBook is just my main computer because I own it that doesn't mean that I don't have access to the intel iMac in my sig. With what I do, I can easily max out the processor on the iMac. Just because I'm on a slower computer doesn't mean that I won't use the extra juice that merom gives. And just so you know the iMac is the same speed and sometimes faster than the current MBP . Also I'm waiting for the merom MBP because there will most likely be GPU upgrades, easy access hard drives, DL superdrive (yes I sometimes need to use those) and maybe a 160GB hard drive as a BTO option. Here's a scenario for you to comprehend, I have the same file and my iBook takes over 45 minutes to encode it while my iMac takes less than 5 minutes to encode it and a merom MBP may take around 4 minutes, I have seven of those files now which of those would you want to encode the file with? Obviously the merom MBP because it will do it 7 minutes faster than the iMac and 287 minutes faster than the iBook. As I said before just because I use an iBook as my main computer doesn't mean I won't notice a difference in speed. And anyway why would I want to settle for 9 month old technology when there is brand new technology coming next tuesday?
