Overall i like it but hate those playstation navigation buttons.

Yeah they look rather odd.

And please for the love of god include the option to put the back button on the right, unless they're hoping to turn the whole population of the Earth into lefties for some reason.

After looking at those screenshots... sorry, but Google is just not good at design.

Up until the L version, it wasn't subjective.. Now it is. Google has made some great leaps.

Agreed. It really does offer a familiar yet fresh look. I like it. Now, I would have preferred the colors of Google with the translucency of Apple (not crazy about the shadows), but well done.

I like the dark, semi-transparent background for the notifications. I hope there's an option to change the lockscreen notifications to be in that style.

While Google just implemented this, there has been phone rotation lock from Android app devs before even iOS had it so please continue to

Shouldn't have to download an app for something that simple.

How's the new keyboard layout?

More L screens here: http://www.phonearena.com/news/Andr...yboard-new-settings-and-lots-of-color_id57565

Kitkat vs L: http://www.phonearena.com/news/Android-L-vs-Android-KitKat-A-visual-comparison_id57558

The more I see it, the more I'm liking the overall look and changes. Everything just looks more streamlined, subtle, mature, yet still playful with the colors.

It looks right.

Cool, thanks. For notekeeping I took snapshots of the new stuff in the articles.

The beauty of Android. You can make it look how you want.

Many iOS users dont get this, because they are used to dealing with things only one way. I love when users complain about something that isnt in stock android, yet is easily obtainable with a simple app. Of course I would never complain about additional features in stock, but you can't just disregard third party solutions. Basically anything you want you can get on android if you arent lazy. The only impossibilities Ive heard about are musician apps that rely on iOS's lower audio latency.

Android has basically had cross platform continuity for awhile now with pushbullet/ mightytext

I suspect right handed people use their right hand when talking on the phone, but when they're doing other tasks the phone is in the left hand.

Why is this? Because it frees up the right hand to do other tasks that require more dexterity.

Aside from left/right hand debate, a back button is generally on the left. Look at your desktop browser, the back button is on the left.

Actually you can't get everything you want on Android. Open source is good, but it has its disadvantages. You can't get a unified design across all the apps unless you redesign all the apps yourself. You can't get Chrome to fix some of its elements that I have complained about before. You can't get the beauty and simplicity of WP. You can't get the continuity or extensibility features of IOS, or the well integrated ecosystem of ios, or the soon to be well integrated ecosystem of WP.

my point is, all OSs have their merits, Android can't do everything, if it could, then there wouldn't be any need for other operating systems.

Edit: as for mighty text being a suitable alternative to continuity, please don't say that. That's a joke. Those solutions all feel hacky and require WiFi, and chrome to be kept opened. It's not half as good as continuity in the Apple ecosystem.. Let's not forget that continuity works with a ton of apps and will also allow for third party apps. That totally blows away any Android equivalent solutions.

I'll give you aesthetics, but I don't really care about that.
The extensibility features are unique, unless we are going to include xposed modules.
Continuity is a nonstarter for me because it is Mac only, android offers cross platform sync. Of course chrome needs to be left open, I'll take it. I'd rather have partial continuity than none at all. Unless enterprise all the sudden goes Mac..

I really do wager android can do everything, it just may not be ideal.. But it can do it.

All I'm reading is, not for me, I don't care, I don't have it, I dont want it.

I really don't care about all that. Point is, IOS and WP do some stuff better than Android, at the same time IOS and WP do stuff that Android can't do at all.

You mention partial continuity but then say that Android can do everything, you're really contradicting yourself. Continuity involves many many apps, just because Android can do some of them in a screwed up way doesn't exactly mean Android can do everything.

As for xposed modules, I have used them, I still use them. They're good but extensibility is better. It integrates much better with the system apps and feel less hacky.

What can android not do except for relaying phone calls through PC and extensibility in stock apps?

1. Continuity in the multitude of apps like in IOS, they also support third party apps.

2. iMessages

3. All the new family sharing options in IOS 8

4. Live tiles

5. Syncing WiFi passwords across desktop and phone.

6. Syncing desktop wallpaper across desktop and phone

7. A people's hub where all their social networks are linked which are linked to your contacts all working natively.

And that's just at the top of my head, I'm sure there are many more.

Nice list, though you can see why I'm jaded not having a Mac at work or home. It's seeming like it's getting to the point where ios is less worth it without a Mac. Double edged sword.

Continuity again is a good point. I agree it is better on Mac/iOS....if you want to exclusively have those things or your work is with all Macs, then it is great.

What i think he means when he says you can get everything, it doesnt include continuity things. Like making your device and icons look how you want. Yes ypou have to get a icons pack or a theme you like with them. You can arrange your homescreens how you want, different dialers, calenders etc...without needing to root.

I currently only have two Apple products. A Macbook Pro that i really like and a first gen iPod .

I use my Windows 8 Yoga more than the MBP now which makes the MBP look like a dinosaur being so much thinner and lighter and want to get another PC w/ W8(still have Vista now) and im intersted in getting a Lumia 930 when they come out. I have a Nexus 5 and we have two Nexus 7's in the household.

My point is that i have all different devices that i like having. I love variety so i dont get bored with one OS all the time. Windows continuity will be real nice and with some cross platform with Google, all will be fine. I dont use a computer for work so i dont need everything. I understand that some do though.
