Why would they feel regret? The iPhone 8 is a model they clearly chose for different reasons and it has touch ID. Internally, the iPhone X an iPhone 8 are very similar.
Or some people were impatient like me and had to get the & plus
Patience is a virtue. There were others who were set on ordering the iPhone X when They first heard of it and others who knew they wanted the iPhone 8. I think most had plenty of time to make a decision from the keynote back on September 12 until October 27 for the preorder.
No regrets at all.
I am sticking with my iPhone 8+ and the X I just ordered is going to my wife as a ten year anniversary gift.
I wasn't impressed by the X during the reveal and I feel the same way now.

The 8 felt like the 6s so I ended up getting a plus. Im a little jealous right now.

No regret. The X isn't ready for me yet. Want to see how it does first in terms of UX and more than content with waiting until next year to see what Apple to next (i.e. get rid of touch ID altogether for example). Plus version of the X with a notch? I'd still have to consider it but more likely to grab than the current model. Everyone have fun with the X though and let us know how you get on. Only think I'm jealous of tbh is the OLED screen. Not sure there's anything else.

With the 27 other threads you made on this forum, I'm surprised you actually purchased an iPhone 8. If you need to feel happy about your purchase, you will never feel sastified.
About the only thing I'll do is visit the Apple store and demo the X.
I'll consider the X next year when there is a X-Plus model.
I know from my experience with the Samsung Galaxy S8 that a narrow 5.8" display is not something I want. That's why I got the S8+ with a 6.2" display instead.
The iPhone X replicates that formula of the S8, and that's not a good thing in my opinion.

The only things the X has that I don't are things I could give 2 flips about... (Face ID, notched OLED, dual OIS, animojis)
A11 Bionic? Yeah I got that.
256GB? Yeah, I got that too.
3GB RAM? Yep... got it.
Couldn't be happier with the 8 Plus. As others have said, I'll consider the X Plus next year.

I like my 8 plus, and was going to get the X. After this morning's snafu, I backed out because nothing was going as Apple had said it would.
A dark part of me kind of hopes this phone has a recall and forces Apple to realize they are doing things before their natural time and to focus on their software.

Why, you knew this day was coming, I'm sure you loved your 8 when you ordered/received it. Given that the iPhone x has the same internals, (outside of the screen and FaceID), there's nothing to be disappointed about.
Yep... not sure why people think the X is just "so much better" than the 8 Plus... the internal hardware is identical.
Enjoy your Face ID and animojis though!
I bought my 8+ about a month ago, and I find it very useful for my purpose, like the size, the screen brightness, however the iOS 11.1 need some more work. I have no regrets, and in fact I purposely did not want the iPhone X, and waiting for the iPhone Xs next year that hopefully will be wider with more memory, better screen, update Face ID, more powerful CPU, though I don’t have any problems with the one I have now. Not to mention I hope they come out with more colors than what they offered today. Absolutely no regrets
