Update from K&N

14 nov 05 on hold due to customs Apple Shanghai

12 nov 05 flight departed Kuehne & Nagel Shanghai


The ETA is still the 18th of November although it is not clear if that means delivery to the UK Hub in Daventry or to my door - I would hope for the latter but expect the former.

I am assuming that, after the flight, the iMac is actually in Amsterdam now.

Phew! All of those exotic locations - it's like a Bond movie.

Perhaps...

I've just phoned Apple and they have told me that my iMac is actually in Luxembourg! Even the Apple guy seemed a little perplexed as he would also have expected it to have gone to Amsterdam.

Anyway, they tell me that I should expect it around the 21st or 22nd. Damn! More waiting.

How about you, Jonah? Any updates...?

wow, one update in 10 days :S

Apecode says its in shanghai, apple say its enroute to me via ups or tnt (consignment numbers is unrecognised on both tracking systems )

OK, Apple have just updated my tracking information which now say:

Arrive Terminal AMSTERDAM, NH, NL 15 Nov 2005 10:02

Which is strange because that places my iMac in three different locations simultaneously, depending on who you speak to:

Apple Store (phone) say LUXEMBOURG
Apple Store (online) say AMSTERDAM
K&N (apecode) say ON HOLD DUE TO CUSTOMS (Shanghai)

I have just phoned the Apple store (UK) back who have now told me that the iMac has now been registered as received in Amsterdam from Shanghai via Luxembourg and that I should receive it on or before the 22nd.

I had 'booking slot obtained' on 9 Nov and then on 10 Nov I had 'truck arrived at final destination'. That means Keuhne + Nagel hand over to the company that deliver to you - ie UPS or TNT. At that point, apecode stops being updated and you get an extra shipping ref appear on the Apple page which is the UPS or TNT tracking number. I think most iMacs have been going UPS to the UK. The Apple traking page does get updated with some of the UPS tracking updates but not all, so I saw nothing updated online until yesterday.

I'm expecting to take delivery today - I reckon you'll be getting yours on Friday or Monday! HTH Good luck!

Argh!!!!!! By this stage they don't seem to know what's going on themselves, how on earth are we suppossed to know!!!!!!!!

The info for my order on Apple Site also says it's in Amsterdam with my iPod still coming from Shanghi. However given your experience James I guess I shouldn't be optimistic about the 22nd.

I'm gonna be away seeing my fiancee until 22nd now so with any luck all this will be be there for us both by then. Then again pigs might fly....

Hi everyone
I ordered my new 20" G5 imac on 1st of november 05,( I am in Australia) due to be delivered on the 16th according to order status on apple site. ON THE 17TH I RECIEVE AN EMAIL TO SAY IT WILL NOT SHIP UNTIL THE 14TH...OF DECEMBER!!
I rang apple absolutely spewing and eventually they offered me a $50.00 voucher and said that the computer SHOULD ship in only a few days!
What do you people think I should do if it does not ship in the 3 working days I have been told. I ouwld hate to wait until the 14th and find out on the 15th..... oh I cant even say it
What do you think?

Now that we're living in this fast, faster, fastest age, the iMac just doesn't compare, horsepower wise, with the Powermac's -- at least with media intensive stuff.

it is a beautifully designed, aesthetic piece to stare at at parties with a killer screen and shiny whites. But in terms of what's under the hood, take advantage of the Amazon offer and get the dual core for only a few hundred more.
