Well I think I am in the same boat as you chaps! I am a UK customer, and my iMac 17" supposedly shipped from Shanghai on the 3rd, that's the last I've heard! Sounds like things are getting interesting! Do you reccomend I phone TNT? Is there a particular number? It's reassuring to know I'm not alone!

0800 100 600. See if you can get a person's name. If we all ask to speak to the same person and they recognise a pattern maybe we can get it escalated.

OK well I spoke to Kate who told me that the goods are 'in transit' and due for delivery tomorrow. I didn't push her for details but I imagine that this means the box is in the UK / Europe. Fingers crossed eh...

I guess it seems the TNT tracker is a little borked that's all

Okay. I just called again. Apparently, "as far as they can tell." My iMac is in Arnhem. The Liverpool depot received my paperwork yesterday but not the package.

The operator is pretty sure my iMac is NOT in China (which hopefully means yours isn't either). I told her that somebody else, who's iMac is on the same shipment, was told that his package was still in China ... and that we BOTH want absolute clarification as to where our packages are, why they're there and when we'll receive them.

I'm expecting a call back before lunchtime.

I suggest we just keep bugging both TNT and Apple until they sort this mess out.

I've just phoned TNT again to make sure I get told the same thing (as you never know !)...

Unfortunately, they have told me the same thing. Apparently TNT do have the paperwork for my delivery - but were never given the actual iMac from Apple to deliver.

The person from TNT was very nice - but said that I would not be receiving the package as they don't have it.

They said I now need to escalate this with Apple as they really can't help any further.

I'm going to phone Apple shortly and ask for a manager.

Let me know how you get on. I'm going to wait for TNT to call.

Do you have MSN?

Make sure you ask the question why WE'RE the ones chasing this ... Why don't TNT know there's something wrong when the parcel they're expecting isn't there?

Hmmm, well I just called TNT again and spoke to Tom. He told me my iMac has been shipped from Amsterdam at 9am this morning and as far as he's aware there's no problem and I should still be receiving it tomorrow - as long as it doesn't get held up at customs.

Do you guys know if yours were on the 9am shipment from Amsterdam?

Oh, and my TNT tracker page still says it's in Shanghai. I told this to Tom and he said he definitely had the correct info in front of him and that the web tracker was wrong.

It may be just my delivery that they have lost. Both you and Garry may still get yours (hopefully)..

Do any of the UK shops have the new iMac yet ? as I may buy it from a shop instead - as I'm not sure I can be bothered to wait another month while they build/ship a new iMac to me... Unfortunately, I live too far away from a Apple Store to get one from them..

Mark.

No point calling TNT if it's Flextronics handling your package. Apple seem to have much better access to the tracking status than we get on the TNT page or through Apecode anyway... so call Apple and ask them.

Well I hope it *is* just yours they've lost. :p But given that we've got the same tracking information, same information from TNT and are having the same nightmare I think it's more likely they've lost the entire batch that yours and mine are on.

I don't know think any of the shops have them yet. I don't even know if the Apple Stores have them. I'm about 2 hours drive from the Birmingham Apple Store and because I used Apple's finance, I bet there'd be problems with refunds and stuff too.

If I don't receive my iMac by the end of this week I will NOT be making the first payment on the 8th December though!

Are you going to call Apple?

Unfortunately, I don't think so. When I originally made my order and saw the ship date was quite far off I called round the Apple resellers in Glasgow and Edinburgh and they all told me they wouldn't be getting any for weeks. I called mid-week last week and they were still saying it would be a couple of weeks.

You might have better luck in England though.

Actually, if you guys don't mind can we three (Garry, Mark & I) exchange consignment numbers over private message here or over MSN or AIM?

Hi Garry,

I've just sent you a PM.

I've just phoned Apple and they say they cannot do anything until they have spoken with TNT. I said they should phone TNT but they said they have an agreed route into TNT via EMAIL for escalations and that they can only follow this process. They say they should get a response from TNT within a couple of hours.

Hopefully you will still get your order as TNT haven't told you anything different, whereas, they have with me.

Cheers,
Mark

I'm not sure why as I'm on MSN and talking to Maverick right now. Maybe your MSN needs to reconnect to the MSN server ?

I don't think that any 20" iMacs are available in any stores. I've been pestering anywhere that would sell them within 75 or so miles of me (Birmingham, Nottingham, Manchester, Leeds) and nobody has any. I've been told 'we're expecting them next week' every week since the announcement, and still no joy yet.

The really annoying thing was that the Leeds Apple Centre still hasn't got the new iMacs, but got the new PowerMacs and PowerBooks within a week of the announcement :(

If anyone does know anywhere that does have 20" iMacs, I'll be interested in hearing from you!

The only news I've heard of, is from a local re-seller - who rang up their stockest and told me that they would get some in by 11/11.

Im expected to get my edu discount 20" shipped on the 18th...fingers crossed!

I ordered mine from Amazon on October 21st and it was just delivered!!

What shipping option did you choose? I ordered a 20" on October 24th with free shipping but mine still hasn't shipped (estimated ship date was late December, but now is Nov 5-25).

Has anybody that ordered a 20" from Amazon using free shipping had it ship yet?

Nope. Ordered last week on Nov 4, and my est. shipping date is Nov. 11. I have Amazon Prime 2 Free day shipping. Shame on Amazon. I'm sick of their delays.

I ordered mine from Amazon last week also - on the 3rd and picked free shipping. They state that it is being "prepared for shipment" and it is scheduled to be delivered on the 14th. It has been that status for a few days now and I emailed them about it. They replied promptly:

"As stated on our web site, when you choose Super Saver Shipping, you
can expect your order to take a few days longer to leave our
fulfillment center than if you had selected our standard shipping
option. This extra time is reflected in your estimated shipment date
and allows us to ship your order in the most cost-efficient way
possible, and enables us to pass the savings, in the form of free
shipping, on to you."

He stood by the 14th date and included a $5 coupon so I'll wait and see...

I know it has been said here before, but for all of you waiting, it is sooo worth the wait. :)

This is the most beautiful computer I have ever seen - it is definitely an improvement over the original iMac G5. I was a bit concerned about how the iSight would look, but it is really a non-issue. I can't believe that such a great webcam fits into such a tiny space.

I have the computer set out on the kitchen table at the moment, and people are just in awe of it when they see it. It is stunning. I was planning on setting it on the desk in my room, but the back of the computer is so good looking, I don't want to put it against a wall. :)

I think I'm going to invest in an iGo and keep it so that it is easily viewed from all sides.

The only downside is that it does have a dead pixel. It is in the upper-left area of the screen. I notice it from time to time, but I am pretty well resigned to the fact that there is nothing Apple will do about it. And frankly, if it meant giving up this computer to wait on a new one, I'm not sure it would be worth it.

Ordered on Oct 15th, Received on Nov 2nd

I finally got it last week, and boy was it worth the wait. Everyone always says how awesome it is...well, it is! It is more than just a machine, more than just an operating system. It is elegance.

I had a mini Mac before this, and I didn't know what I was missing. A lot of the Core image stuff is so cool. I didn't even know that when a widget was dropped on the desktop that it looked like it landed in a pool of water! I can now do some decent gaming on the iMac (although I will likely leave the real gaming to my upcoming xbox 360 or PC).

It is amazing how much heat this thing kicks out though. I have a total of 5 computers in my office, and it being combined with the monitor causes it to be the biggest single source of heat in the office.

On the flip side, those other computers really don't get turned on any more.

The ironic thing is that 3 of the computers that are in there with their monitors didn't cost as much as this one iMac!

My kids (9, 8, 5) love to play with Photobooth. I come home to find them having shot over 100 images almost everyday! The side effect of this is that I'm ending up with a bunch of pictures of my kids and their friends acting goofy that I would never have had.

My biggest disappointment is that apple stuck in a video card that I found references and reviews for over a year ago. I would have hoped for a little more power in the video since they know they are hooked up to such a high resolution monitor.

I look forward to buying new and improved macs in the future. Next purchase will likely be Intel based mini macs for the kids. I've got tons of LCD panels from Dell just waiting for something good to be hooked up to them!
