I'm in the UK, and have exactly the same problems - I ordered the next day the iMacs were announced. I kept calling Apple and TNT everyday since the 1st of November, the one passing me through to other, and bluntly LYING to me. The first time i called, Apple told me the iMac was in Ireland and was delayed because of an "Irish bank holiday" when at the same time the TNT tracking page was showing the iMac in Shanghai! Anyway, they kept giving me different dates until today when TNT told me they don't have it, and Apple told me they lost it! Finally at 4pm the TNT tracking page updated showing the iMac in Holland at last which means it must come by Friday right???

In any case I'm writing a letter of complaint to Apple for all these LIES they kept telling me and because I'm an annoying little bastard. I don't understand just tell me the truth - truth hurts but i can take it!!

Welcome to the club. Myself and Garry have been chasing our deliveries for most of this week now... It seems like either TNT lost the package, or Apple didn't give them the package (it changes depending who you talk to !)

Here is my tracking information:

09 Nov 2005 15:11 Arnhem Hub Consignment Received At Transit Point
01 Nov 2005 21:27 Shanghai Shipped From Originating Depot
01 Nov 2005 09:54 Shanghai Consignment Received At Transit Point

Notice how they lost my package for nearly 9 days !

Anyway, hopefully we shall receive the iMac by tomorrow..

Mark

It looks like retrospek and myself will finally receive our iMacs tomorrow. He ordered on 12th October and I ordered on the 17th. They both left Shanghai (allegedly!) on the 1st November and then went missing for a week. TNT finally sorted it out yesterday and they're currently in Northampton (the main TNT base in the UK). They'll travel to the local depots in the morning and then to us! :D

Just got my first mac (Imac 20") yesterday...so it took 6 days from placing the order to get to me. Not bad eh?

The only problem i have is:

the camera has something on the lens, or there is a problem with the lens...there is a black speck, which i thought were dead pixels - but it only occurs when i turn isight on.

And i think i have been given a usa keyboard. The layout is different to all others ive used before with the @ symbol being on the number row. Is this normal for a uk mac? or am i being screwed?

Im thinking of calling them. I dont want to keep a mac with a camera fault and possibly the wrong keyboard.

Any suggestions would be great. im new to apple aftersales care.

thanks adam

My uk keyboard has '@' on the 2 - the imortant things are the euro key (also on the 2) and the british pound sign on 3 instead of the # which becomes alt-3.

What do you have for shift-3?

Of course, you could try typing colour and see if it spells it correctly.

Was talking to someone at Apple today after my est date was pushed from the 14th to the 17th (nearly a month from my order date) and he said K&N were having problems with up to 1000 consignments being delayed.

So looks like I along with lots of others have to wait even longer. This is really cheesing me off. I've had my gig stick from crucial sitting in my room for nearly a month now!

I ordered my 20" iMac G5 on the 1st of November and have received only the initial order confirmation (one week after placing the order!) from Apple.

Apple's tracking says:

Shipment Picked Up SHANGHAI, SH, CN 10 Nov 2005 14:00

Kuehne & Nagel's tracking says:

12 nov 05 Flight Booked Apple Shanghai

10 nov 05 Handover at supplier Apple Shanghai

10 nov 05 Consignment Booking Kuehne & Nagel Shanghai
received from supplier

09 nov 05 Picking confirmed Apple Shanghai
EDI received

It also gives an ETA (although I have no idea where to) of November 18th.

When I ordered my G4 iMac about three years ago I had some build to order options added (as I have done in this case) and the machine arrived in under a week from the Netherlands.

I wonder what is going on?

My estimated delivery date was the 14th, it was then changed to the 17th. Apple said K&N had some problem at an airport which had held up 1000 consignments. Not sure if that's true but it could explain the hold up some of us are having.

Same shipment as James

I've got iMac 20" with 1.5 Gb RAM on order and it also says :-

Shipment Picked Up SHANGHAI, SH, CN 10 Nov 2005 14:00

Guess we're in same boat. First time I've ever ordered from Apple and I must admit I'm not impressed, the iMac had better be absolutely stunning and without flaw for me to EVER consider doing this again.

Btw were do you go for Kuehne & Nagel's tracking as this seems much better than Apple's?

Thank you :)

Thank you that's worked great, I'd tried before but hadn't realised you needed to cut off the last set of numbers.

Well looks like mine's in with James as it's also got ETA of 18th November. Of course this ETA is probably in Amsterdam from what I've been reading. Either way my iPod's not got ETA until 21st Nov and they're sending my order all in one go. Ah well....

Well this makes a bit of sense. I've got two orders with Apple. One has been in "Pending shipment" status since the 9th and is 4 days over the estimated shipping date. Apple keep telling me "it'll ship tonight".

The other order shipped a week ago but hasn't reached the UK yet. Previous Apple orders have never been this slow for me.

It's arrived!

Mine was due to be delivered on or before the 4th November, just when I had planned to go away for that weekend. However, as we have all read it got delayed and eventually turned up in Leeds on the 10th Nov. but no one was in.

I got back to Leeds on Sunday and it was waiting for me! It's alive!!!!

Shipping: Mine also went 'off the radar' for a few days, when there was no update on neither the apecode site nor the apple shipment tracking site. It was eventually delivered by UPS, who over the phone were very efficient.

I think still it is a disgrace that they can't give you a time window for delivery.

Bring on the Wireless Mighty Mouse!!!

This is beyond taking the P*SS and is becoming a JOKE

Anyone know if its possible to get a refund on this?

UPDATE:

I will be asking for a redund when it arrives, i phoned em up and they said it was ok. i was better off getting the imac from my local apple store :( apparently apply say its in the netherlands, which contradict the tracking info i have), In the future, i will NEVER deal with the apple store, id rather speak to them in person i.e goto my local store
I think ill wait for the intel based imacs now, whenever they arrive,

TY for ya help

Jonah,

Seeing as we are probably waiting on the same shipment I'll keep you posted regarding any progress with my order.

-- iMac is still incarcerated in Shanghai at the moment. Has anybody read Empire of the Sun? Oddly enough, I share my name with the lead character.

Just a note for anyone checking the TNT tracking number via Apecode:

Although Apple told me my iMac would be sent via TNT, turns out UPS will be delivering it, which makes me a lot happier. So, check the Apple Store status page to see if the UPS tracking number has turned up. I only noticed it this morning, could have been there for some time.

I'm expecting it either tomorrow or Wednesday. Good luck to everyone else. Hope it works out for you all!

The 20" iMac I ordered from Amazon on October 24 still hasn't shipped. I've complained to Amazon several times, and they've upgraded me to 2-day shipping and given me a $5 promotional certificate, but I'm still in the queue apparently. Anybody else who ordered about the time I did still waiting?

online tracking is just out of date

Hi,

I'm another UK person who's been waiting for a 20" for weeks, with very similar reports on my online tracking pages (Apple and Apecode) as those above.

After getting annoyed that the online tracking hasn't been updated for ages, I phoned Apple today for a delivery estimate. I expected they would give me the same information that I was seeing (and give me an opportunity to moan) but instead they said my iMac was currently with UPS, gave me a UPS tracking number and indicated I'd receive it today or tomorrow. This is much better than I expected - it looks as if Apple's online tracking page is just very slow to get updated.

However, although my UPS tracking number is recognised, UPS doesn't give me any information about when I'm likely to receive it.

I'm hoping that Apple are in the process of upgrading their systems and we're in the middle of the transition, so things just aren't running as normal. Previously when I've ordered from the Apple store it has been great and I've been able to check the progress of my order until it arrived.

I hope this gives a glimmer of hope to all you waiting!

Rog.

starting over

Well we were supposed to have received our imac on the 10th from Amazon via ups. But UPS has lost our imac. I called Amazon today and they are sending a new one, but saying it may take another 1-2 weeks to ship due to unavailability.  We ordered originally on oct. 27. Who knows where our little imac is or who might have it.
