My point is that Apple’s customer support outside USA is way worse than the one which you are used to and while it seems normal for you to just go down town and exchange a faulty 3000$ machine with a new one i will probably have to stick with the faulty one and wait for a repair program.

So we are having a different user experience and thus i may get kinda dramatic some times. It’s not that i can order some parts and fix it my self like a Dell unit since you mentioned it. These things are getting impossible to fix.
The misconception is there are Apple stores everywhere in the U.S.A simply because Apple is a U.S company. Not true. Many states and cities don't have Apple stores in reachable areas for people to take their products to for repair or exchange.

I am so sorry to hear this. I was planning to update my 2019 15 inch this week to see if it changes anything.

Do you have constant pops while scrubbing through clips or just some occasional - random ones?

When I’m playing back clips in the timeline. I’ll tap space bar to play and again to stop, and there’s a consistent popping noise that scales as volume increases.

Seriously bummed by how in limbo this issue. I want to order a CTO machine, but there's just too many unanswered questions. Lots of people saying 10.15.2 fixed nothing at all and some saying it fixed some of the popping. It's strange really how there can be such a disconnect.

I tried one while picking up an Apple Pencil today - running 10.15.2 I could definitely hear it about half the time scrubbing Youtube.

I was able to trigger popping in youtube on all demo units I tried so I don't think the update fixed that.

It has been long enough that I went ahead and chatted with Apple today.. my support person told me this is still an active issue, that 10.15.2 wasn't the fix for it, and that the real fix is still on the way. That's good news I suppose.

It's a shame that these reps will say just about anything to shine people on.

It’s also a shame that forum posters will immediately impose their opinion upon the reps as if what they’re saying is irrefutably true. Maybe the rep is just blowing smoke, maybe they’re not. How would you know?
Over 25 years of being an avid Apple customer and intimate knowledge of their inner workings that I cannot disclose. That's how I know.

It is nevertheless true that an Apple rep claiming "a fix is on the way" is not a guarantee that the issue will ever be fixed. Anyone remember the Airpower wireless charging pad?

Apple may have it actively being investigated, but they cannot guarantee a fix. And for that reason they have until Jan 8th or provide something in writing they will extend the return period. No way anyone should take their phone comment as guarantee.

Exactly, mine is under this extended return period and if they don’t deliver a fix before 8 Jan I'll return mine. This is a "PRO" machine and whenever I scroll a video on FCP X I get a pop, unacceptable.

I don't think this will be resolved until 8 Jan. I am getting your frustration since i am making my living using FCPX. My 2019 15 inch still pops after almost 5 months of ownership and i am not that optimistic about a permanent fix coming soon.

So I pulled the trigger on the MacBook Pro 16. I can confirm that regardless if 10.15.2 is a fix or not it certainly worked as a significant fix. The popping on YouTube was insane before where every time I touched the scrubber on the touch screen it popped, as well as whenever I went back a window in safari. After updating the popping is basically non-existent on YouTube in safari (I'm sure I might be able to trigger it again if I try hard enough) and I have not been able to trigger it on the same video I tested it on. So it seems like 10.15.2 not only mitigated but fixed my problem. I don't know why its not doing anything for some people - I would chalk up this to unit variance and all the better if they have a full on fix coming. The biggest problem with the laptop by far rn is the smearing in dark mode. The ghosting is not noticeable outside of dark mode.

EDIT: Right after posting this I closed the lid of the screen while a video was playing and was able to trigger it twice that way. I also got triggered it once using scrub but it was very soft and not something that would noticeable during normal playback. Difference is still night and day.

Because these "Apple reps" have been blowing smoke for every issue there has been, fixed or not. It's the "stop bugging me, if I say this I'll not have to deal with you for the next month. Praying Apple will actually have it fixed by then". Just like the "Never heard of it" from geniuses even though it's everywhere on the net and every produced unit of that model is affected.

The reps have direction from Apple that some have read to customers, something that wasn't happening before on this topic. Those who imagine they somehow know that's smoke have vivid imaginations.
