Any other 10.5 owners cave and get an 11”?

Finally caved today. Played with the 11” in Best Buy and as much as I love my 10.5,
I think the 11” is the most perfect size iPad that’s ever been made. I saw Verizon had the 256 lte available now on their website ( i have yet to see a store have any lte above 64) so did next day shipping along with the new Apple Pencil and the new folio case. I’m used to the Smart Keyboard but have heard bad things about the new folio Keyboard so held off for now. How does the folio case feel? Does it keep the iPad light? I’m going to sell my second gen 12.9 lte and get a third gen 12.9 this year but maybe just a WiFi version of that one. Excited for tomorrow.

It is pretty sweet. I was all set on getting the 10.5” before these were announced, so I am definitely getting the 11”. Even if I had bought the 10.5”, i’d upgrade too. The new design, Face ID and as an artist the new pencil are all just perfect to me.
 
Upgrade my 10.5 inch to an 11 inch 64GB LTE model with SKF and Pencil. I use it heavily for grad school and corporate finance. It was worth the upgrade for me, be it for the redesign or the new shiny toy.

I don't recommend any non heavy user to upgrade though.

I’m still holding on to my 10.5” for the time being. I’m not a power iPad user, but the 11” is very tempting. I’m going to hold off and see if there are any deals around the holidays (or after the holiday).

Anxious to keep eye on this thread as I’m in same boat. I always get new iPhone/iPad and for some reason with the 10.5 to 11 I’m afraid I’ll get and not feel like big enough difference for what I use for: Netflix, surfing, games.

Yes. No regrets here. It feels ridiculously modern compared to the 10.5. I know it's faster, but the 10.5 is already so fast, I can't say it's a difference I can quantify with basic web/media consumption.

I ordered the 11” for pickup to replace my 10.5”. When I got to the store I saw the 11 and 12.9 side by side and went with the 12.9. Been using it all day and while at first glance they seemed similar in size, the 12.9 is starting to feel a bit bulky. May stick with it another week, but I feel like I’ll be returning it and going with the 11” after all.

So I have both. I have a week left to return the 11, having given it a fair shot. I like the design better, I like the pencil and how it attaches and charges from it...but...is it *amazingly* better than the 10.5? Not really. I just picked up the 10.5 and the "old" pencil and took some notes. Experience is zero difference than the 11. I played with all of my apps that I use on a daily basis. Nothing different. Now, if I edited a ton of video on it, or edited photos, it might make a difference (the speed), but for what I use it for, the 10.5 is zippy enough. I'm giving it a few more days to see if I just return the 11 and call it a day waiting for next years rev.

I have the 10.5 and love it. I played with the 11 and agree with others that is a perfect size. At the launch prices though, I won’t buy the 11. I don’t need the 11 right this second but might jump on a crazy bargain if it comes along in the future.

Upgraded from the 10.5 to 11, with the 10.5 going to my wife. I use my iPad heavily at work for note taking, reference books, web, etc. and also learning to paint with Procreate.

For me, the new magnetically held wireless charging pencil was worth the upgrade alone with all the other updates extra benefits. On my 10.5, the pencil is attached to the keyboard case with a sleeve strap. However, it was frequently near empty and a hassle to charge. Not an issue with the 11. The new pencil double tap feature is really cool. Hopefully additional options will be added in the near future.

I like the new keyboard follo since it is much less of a hassle to snap into place compared with the origami version on the 10.5. It is more rigid. The only thing missing is back lit keys.

As a heavy iPad creative user, the 11 was definitely worth it to me. The 10.5 is a great machine at lower price which may be a better value if the upgraded pencil is not important.

I am patiently waiting to see what new features will be added in iOS 13.... In the meantime, trying out cloud based web services like Coder for on the go JavaScript development. Just amazed how powerful the iPad has become.
 
Yep. Took the plunge too and loving the new 11” device. Super clean, great screen, FaceID is slick and while the 10.5 was a screamer, this new iPad feels like a step up with app launches and general navigation.

It was a pricey upgrade, but I feel like I am getting my moneys worth.

I upgraded as well. I love the new 11” I still have my 10.5 and I am still comparing speed and ease of use. I am completely in love with he new function of the new Apple Pencil because I use it so much while in class. I am a completely paperless student and I am in Grad school where the workload is much higher than undergraduate. I still adore my 10.5 because it is so reliable but I think I’m going to be sticking with my new 11”!

I have a 10.5, and I’m very happy with it. I have it equipped with the keyboard case and pencil. I see the 11: I need this! Then I do the math, 11+keyboard+pencil+AppleCare+tax = $1,984 Canadian...

Yes the 11 is cool. Yes FaceID is probably better. Yes the pencil charging and magnet is novel. Yes it’s faster.

While FaceID is great, touching your finger to the home button to authorize things isn’t so bad. With the Apple Keyboard Case, you can actually attach the first gen pencil to the edge of the case magnetically - I do it all the time. While the 11 is faster, the 10.5 is no slouch.

If the 11 weren’t so expensive, I might go for it. I’m kind of happy my senses came back to me, I am keeping the 10.5. No doubt the 11 is a great iPad, but at the end of the day both do the same things, and the 10.5 does it’s stuff well. Yes USB C is a good change, but I’m not doing anything that will use that, so I’m sticking with the 10.5. It’s just not worth spending that much money when I have something that does 85 to 90% of the same essential functions.

yes took the plunge. very much enjoy the new one. went bak to LTE. its a beautiful design and since finger ID is for sh*t loving the Face ID

sold the 10.5 yesterday. its is a great iPad and there are not many reasons to upgrade for me other than listed above and its just something I tend to do w each phone and iPad release since they are so easy to sell and capture decent resale w

Its a gorgeous design, no question, though some of the posts about it being bendable has me a bit concerned. That's not why I opted to keep the 10.5., but still its disconcerting. I guess the whole bendgate thing with the iPhone 6 plus is still too fresh in my mind.
 
If you Own a 10.5” iPad Pro from last year the Only way to avoid getting an 11” is to NOT touch the new 11” iPad Pro if you just pick one up it’s gonna be a done deal.

Having said that coming from a 9.7 Pro there’s not much here for Web Browsing, Video watching and that. But had I Not traded in my 9.7” Pro for $250 at the Apple store 2 months ago I would have lost out. I heard ther won’t even take Gen 1 iPad Pro's anymore.

No it isn't. Trust me, I have zero desire for one, even though I was in the Apple store recently (for an unrelated errand). I'm content with the 10.5.

What does the new IPP 11" do that the 10.5 cannot do? Ultimately that's the major reason why I would entertain getting one, but I've not see anything that the 11 does that the 10.5 cannot

That's fair. It is very thin, which is impressive, but it can sometimes feel delicate when holding. I use the new smart folio with it and it definitely makes a nice improvement. I haven't had any problems taking it on the road or to and from the office. Personally I think the bendgate is a little overblown as I feel it depends on how you care for your devices, but I get the concerns. A solid case and a little extra care makes a world of difference.
