The 10.5” in taller in LANDSCAPE (meaning you can see more of the page vertically) than the 11” iPad Pro. That’s my primary problem with it. When we went from the 9.7” to 10.5”, there was a clear advantage to the height gained in landscape. However, the 11” gives up a small bit of height and gives you a wider screen. Not sure it’s worth the trade off IMO.

The longer screen goes completely against the philosophy of the original. It was given a 4:3 ratio for a reason.

I did. Originally went with the 12.9 but after a week of using it I missed my 10.5 so I returned it and got the 11”. The new 11 isn’t light years ahead of the previous gen for most stuff but it’s definitely worth the upgrade for me.

Can you share what makes the 11 worth it to you over the 10.5?

And it’s baffling that Apple only changed the aspect ratio of one of their iPads. Seems like pretty unnecessary fragmentation.

I wonder how long it will take developers to optimize for the new screen, considering that the 11 Pro will be the smallest user base for some time to come

I did, but then returned it because I like the 10.5 better. Bezels feel bigger on the 11" and I don't like the black color, app resolution issues are annoying, the software keyboard is significantly different on the 11'', Photos app crops in on all of your pictures, and my biggest issue was that it's not as comfortable to hold. Also, much prefer the smart cover over the new folio.

First time I've ever returned a new iPad because I didn't like it. Hope they'll make some adjustments by next REV, but going to sit this one out.

Apple set a line in the sand for developers too support the iPhone XS Max for March '19 to support its screen resolution. I expect the same.

Love my 10.5, and see no need whatsoever to replace it with an 11. What does an 11 do that a 10.5 can't do anyway? Nuthin!
The 11” can output 4K via the USB-C port and charge your iPhone, but other than that, I think you are correct. I’m guessing this will change with iOS 13 and we’ll see why Apple switched to USB-C.

I’m sticking with my 10.5 for now also.

I recognize that each iPad is a highly subjective experience but after a couple days I must say I do love the look, feel, speed and overall package of the 11 inch IPP. Apps will be updated and I just don’t get the comments about the bezels. They are minimal and I saw someone else mention that the 11 inch just makes the 10.5 look so outdated. I absolutely agree with this statement.

Again, highly subjective experience and the 10.5 is still a more than capable/fantastic iPad, but for others considering upgrading from the 10.5, count me a user who is very happy and doesn’t regret it one bit.

I’ve just bought a new iPad Pro 10.5”, it’s £509 and I can’t really get the 11” more than a few quid cheaper than it’s £769 Apple price which is a huge difference. Plus I know that the new aspect ratio would just annoy me so I’d really be looking at an eye wateringly expensive 12.9” at £969.

I’m moving from iPad Air 2 which has worn out it’s battery so a big upgrade for me. I’m thinking if I can make this last three years plus like my Air 2 then I can buy a 12.9” bezel free micro led model in a few years time.

I've tried and tried to rationalize it, as I would really like to have some sort of reason to upgrade, but the only reason I can come up with is technolust - the joy of having the latest and greatest.

However, this time I so far have resisted the urge, primarily based on low 10.5 resale values and I'm hoping iOS 13 in the future will do more to unlock the potential of the awesome hardware.

I think if you waited a year, you could easily find a deal of a slightly used one with Applecare on Ebay or something like that.

That being said, the resale value after looking at it is not that terrible. I bought my 10.5 256gb with LTE for $859 and from looking on eBay they are selling for roughly $550 to $600. The taxes and accessories though that hit you in the wallet. I was able to get a Black Friday deal for the iPad Pro 11 for $100 off the regular price and no taxes and shipping, so that was enough for me to cave and by the updated model.

True - the accessories are what kills you, and you really can't recover the cost of the Pencil and ASK in the resale, so that requires another $300+ of accessories to repurchase

I'll put in that I had the 10.5 and sold it a month before the new ones came out. I did so because i had two 10.5's that developed the white spot. So apple exchanged it under AppleCare and I promptly sold it and waited for the new ones. Now I'm battling on whether to keep the 11 or 12.9. But I went for a new one because of the white spot situation.

LOL!

well, to me it was the spot issue, I had two with it and I could not chance getting another 10.5 and it develop the same problem. because once that spot develops, its hard not to see. But aside from that, I do really like faceID on the new iPad, its very seamless. I also went ahead and purchased my first apple pencil, i'm enjoying that at the moment and feel the new charging method makes all the difference. I don't think i would have gotten it if it still had to be stuck into the lightning port.

the 10.5 is a great iPad, i really did love it and if i had not had the white spot issue on two, i would have had the same questions of whether it was worth it to upgrade or not.

Apple likely doesn’t expect many 10.5” iPad Pro owners to upgrade to the 11”, but I’d recommend anyone who is getting an iPad Pro for the first time to buy the 11” over the 10.5”. The Pencil 2.0, Face ID, and faster USB-C charging make it a better device.

Keeping my cellular 10.5 64 GB. I tested out the 11”. I do like the screen overall but I don’t like how it feels. Material quality doesn’t feel right. The lack of OIS in the 11” is a definite dealbreaker though.

It’s also pricey. I never buy a Wi-Fi only iPad. To me, not worth the money. Cellular is the only way I ever go. Not worth it at that price point.

I went from 10.5 to the 12.9 and love it. If I want a smaller screen I always have the Xs max

I got a 11 last weekend. coming from a 10.5. I can def see that it is a little bit faster on just about everything. Honestly though I am finding it a bit more cumbersome than the 10.5 even though it is the same size?

Yeah, had to get my iPad replaced because of that. Luckily my replacement has been spot free. It’s been 9 months so far VS the 4 months when it developed on the other one. Hoping it stays that way! No idea what causes it.
