Bringing OS X in line with IOS`s update frequency in my opinion has resulted in a poorer user experience with the desktop OS.
That.
Quality control went down the drain – things that were working absolutely normal one update ago are FUBARed.

I can exclusively reveal Vuze works. Of course, I only use it for legal purposes (to be precise, I downloaded a Linux distro for my laptop).
And the new Disk Utility sucks donkey ass. I had a USB stick with another Linux distro, "Bodhi Linux 3.1.0" and DU couldn't format it because – I guess – of two full stops. DU from Yosemite? No problems. Also some of my memory sticks are displayed as "Media", no matter what their name actually is.
Wondering if any of you who took the plunge and upgraded already. Do you have any regrets or is there any major app that will not run? I am just curious. I have held off from installing to see how many of you have problems.

well it seems more people are having trouble than the people who aren't. Interesting. At this point I would not recommend upgrading for all until some issues have been addressed. Unless you are brave and don't mind messing with your system trying to fine tune it to El Capitan I would put it on hold at least until 10.11.1 comes out. That's my opinion.

I feel like I'm living in some bizarro world. Every time that I've updated OSX on any of my systems the experience has been horrid. Without fail. I could only look at envy at everyone else who upgraded and experienced better performance and smooth operation.well it seems more people are having trouble than the people who aren't. Interesting. That is why I stuck with Mavericks when Yosemite came out. But when I heard that Eric Clapton was primarily an optimization/stability release I took the chance and upgraded my late-2013 iMac. The upgrade was smooth. I experienced a minor panic attack when a crucial app that I use stopped working. (it was a Windows app wrapped in Wineskin Winery). Disabling SIP fixed that issue. Other than a (so far) only minor irritation in iWork '09, everything else has been fine. I waited a few days and then upgraded my 2014 11" MBA. Same good experience. I'm shocked.
TL;DR - if you generally don't experience issues upgrading OSX then don't upgrade to Eric Clapton. If updates to OSX historically have been problematic, this is the exception. (tongue-in-cheek)![]()
My gf has quite a few regrets. Problems with office 11, no browser on OS X will play videos uploaded via Taskstream (web based software used by her university) and her printer and scanner won't work. Also problems with her back up drives preventing her from using Apples time machine to go back. These are just the things she noticed minutes after upgrading.
I've been working diligently to try to get this stuff working correctly as she sit with her jacket on about to head out to buy a PC. She looks at a computer merely as a tool and when a tool doesn't work for her she buys a new tool that will. She doesn't care about an OS as much as how that OS can do the work she need to do for work and school.
Regardless of who is to "blame" I am finding this a bit overwhelming and I doubt an average user would be able to get this stuff working without tons of research distracting them from what they'd need to be doing on a computer. To make matters worse I'm the one who convinced her to get a Mac in the first place so her saying "is it just working yet" isn't helping. Lol
Took me a moment! But when I heard that Eric Clapton was primarily an optimization/stability release...
