Absolutely! I'm already under close care from doctors. I appreciate the concern. I'd really like a watch just to monitor my own heart rate for my knowledge as I'm starting to get back to working out. I think it will help me stay in a range that is set by my doctor.
Check this link and scroll down towards the bottom. You can see a comparison between the different models.

Bought one for my wife and I. We both had the S0, S3, and S4... all SS or SSSB but this time we are trying out the base aluminum models with just GPS for the first time (40 silver for her, 44 space gray for me)... I'd like to update my watch every year (I *love* them) and I expect a MAJOR UPDATE for Series 7 (case design change like S3->S4) so I anticipate upgrading again in 12 months. The aluminum models just makes more sense if I'm going to do that. Not sure how I'll feel when I get the first inevitable scuffs vs. my sapphire screens but if I hate it I'll just buy SS again next year. Also I'm not going to sell our S4 watches, the resale value is just laughable compared to other Apple products so I think I'll use my old S4 as a watch to wear while I charge my S6, or if I need a dressier look or a watch for a more rough environment where it might get banged around.

I was on the second the event ended and the page went up. They all were listed 25-29/30. I don't know what was actually available Friday.

But like wirh most Apple orders, it will probably ship sooner than the dates said.

That's good to know. I was on the site right when it came back online and we had to delay to take wrist measurements for the new bands... ordered a 40mm Aluminum and a 44mm Titanium and we were quoted Sep 25 - 29.

The Apple website had one configuration of at least the aluminum watches available that listed Fri the 18th right when it opened... it was a color of watch and a single color of sport band. the moment you "customized" the choice of band it jumped to sept 25-29... so i think if your order is 25-29 because of the band it will be delayed but they have a few versions ready to go to make the friday launch if you were willing to accept a plain jane color... space gray + black band or silver with white band etc. My watches (I ordered two) always said Friday and still say Friday.

Basically the whole "announced today delivered in 2-3 days" is fairly unprecedented. without risking disappointment for many i think apple stores will have stock friday AND SOME online orders with very specific band options will be delivered friday but most will be next week because they have to pair the endless number of band choices with the watches. this wouldn't have been an issue if like last year the orders went live but weren't due to be delivered for 1 to 1.5 weeks for launch date.

Space Gray will be easier to pair with coloured bands, Blue, quite a tricky one, unless you really like blue haha
I was thinking the same thing. I’d rather have a neutral colour on the watch casing and then add the colour via the bands I wear. Blue doesn’t go with anything and won’t go with every band in the range unlike the other watches IMO.
Thinking the SE for my first Apple Watch. Am I missing anything by going that route?
It looks like a decent watch, although it might be wise to look for a series 5 as it’ll have a couple more features and won’t be much difference in price.

Yeah I was thinking that might be the case right after I posted. I got tired of looking through all the pre-made combos and we just jumped into the "create your own" studio for both of the watches. If I had it to do over again I would probably order my wife a SS instead of Aluminum because I forgot about the Sapphire crystal... but I guess we'll get to do a direct comparison on durability lol.

Blue or Space Gray, halp me out :)
Kinda depends on what band colors you like to wear. A dark blue will still be pretty neutral and pair well with most colors. Some combos will be more striking than others... but I can’t really think of a color that would look bad with the blue. Maybe bright red wouldn’t look so great.

If it was a brighter, lighter hue of blue, then your options would narrow more....

Does anyone else hate when the sport band metal peg color doesn’t match the watch? On the Nike bands the only one with a black peg is the black band.

Yeah, I agree.. I’ve been playing about with the “style” thing in the app and have changed my order from blue as I think about 3 of my 20-30 straps will go with it!

Have ordered Space Grey instead which will be here within a week and a blue braided loop strap which should be here for Christmas!

yep, blue and red look awesome when paired with a very, very limited set of bands. i also think some people (like me) would be happy wearing a bold watch like blue/red in SOME situations but not all (i wouldn't want it at work for example). that kinda rules them out although like a neon yellow or other dramatic color on a car... it works for the advertisements to make the product look "new" and then most just buy the silver one lol.

So currently having watched the keynote trying to weigh up the Apple Watch SE for £299 vs the 6 for £409. I'm thinking the SE looks better value.

having worn nothing but sapphire crystal watches for years i can attest to just how scratch resistant they are but if i am being honest... i've spent the last year looking at my teen daughters aluminum glass as well as tons of friends and others wearing the aluminum model and frankly they all look in great shape. my daughters definitely has some minor marks visible when the screen is off and you tilt it in the light but its really hard to tell and certainly not something you "see" if you aren't "looking for it". i'm sure the first scuff (i bet you with my luck it is friday) will be the worst for me to handle but I'm going to stick it out until series 7 and then reevaluate what material i need when i upgrade. with how little the resale value is on even one year old models it is far easier for me to justify paying $429 a year than $750+... i'm blessed to be able to afford it either way but $750 each year for a new watch just has started making me feel icky if you know what I mean? i skipped the S5 just to avoid that feeling but then i spent the last year bummed i didn't have the latest and greatest of something i really enjoy... such first world problems i know.

It is interesting to see how much delay is introduced by changing just the straps, so I guess there’s still supply constraints on some standard bands.

I'm in!

I just looked at the Apple website and the Apple Watch series 6 starts at £379 which is £20 cheaper than the series 5 last year. I always buy the 40mm version though as the 44mm is far too big for me. The SE is by far the better value though and as it’s your first AW, it might be wise to have that to try it out and you won’t have spent more than you wanted to.

I did think about the smaller one, but based on the sizing I'm at the top end of the size. I think it will either be something I'll love or not. But I had decided not to upgrade my iPhone XS Max this year, so I thought I deserved it. The funds come out of Mrs AFB crafting supplies so its all good!

Nice one!

And thats just reminded me I meant to order a Solo Loop instead of a sport loop. Dammit! Need to cancel and re-order.... again!!
Hopefully that's the right choice!

i honestly don't think it is supply constraints it is the time required to pair the bands with the individual watches and then get ready to ship in time for friday... it seems apple picked a few limited combos of watches (for example silver aluminum with white sports band, space gray aluminum with black sports band) to have ready before the event and ready to ship by tomorrow for friday delivery. everyone else is delayed. this wasn't an issue in the past because apple left itself more than a week between orders and delivery but now they left themselves just 3 days. they will meet their claim of "friday" availability but the reality is only limited combos ever had a chance of making that date.
