i honestly don't think it is supply constraints it is the time required to pair the bands with the individual watches and then get ready to ship in time for friday... it seems apple picked a few limited combos of watches (for example silver aluminum with white sports band, space gray aluminum with black sports band) to have ready before the event and ready to ship by tomorrow for friday delivery. everyone else is delayed. this wasn't an issue in the past because apple left itself more than a week between orders and delivery but now they left themselves just 3 days. they will meet their claim of "friday" availability but the reality is only limited combos ever had a chance of making that date.
Agreed. I had an aluminum in Deep Blue with the blue braided solo band in my cart, but as I was hemming and hawing over whether that was what I wanted, my delivery date slipped from Sept 24 to mid October. So I removed it from my cart, added the same watch with a different band (blue sport loop) and got the Sept 24 delivery range again. The braided solo band itself could be bought separately and be delivered this week, however.

I’ll echo the sentiment on the price of those braided loops, however. Sigh. Wish they were a bit less expensive.

Well, the S4 (and S5, which was same CPU/GPU chip with a compass and new display driver added) were 100% faster than the S3, which was 70% faster than the S1/S2. The S6 is 20% faster than the S4/S5. Sooo... well, I can't quite figure out the math because it compounds. But my excel math says it's roughly 408% faster than the S1/S2.

This does not take into account memory/RAM speed increases, GPU increases (which are substantial), AI cores (added in S4/5) and other efficiencies. The S5 had A11 tech in it. The new S6 is literally a cut down version of the A13 in the (still) current iPhone 11, so that's a very substantial bump. They don't say anything about the GPU being upgraded this year; Series 4/5 it was all new.

So bottom line that 20% bump will be noticeable - as they usually are at that increment, over an S4/S5. But much more so over an S1/2/3.

Apparently got a little carried away ordering the Series 6 - Aluminium - 44mm - GPS - Blue. With the Atlantic Blue Braided Solo Loop.

Somehow managed to place two orders, and can't cancel one of them because the "Products You've Ordered" page isn't working just now.

Delivery date is the 24th - 28th, but order page says delivery in 2-4 business days.

Hopefully be able to cancel the accidental order before it ships.

Update: Delivery date has just changed to "Arrives 28 Sep", ordered on the Apple Store app a minute or two after it updated with what was announced today.

I'm hoping this isn't true and it'll be here on Friday, guess I just have to wait and see.

Managed to cancel the duplicate order though

I bought AW6 SS, but there is a huge question if the glass is sapphire or ion-x. If the last=return.

My dad wanted an Apple Watch. Was waiting for the 6 to be released and ordered one just now. Then while looking for the specs, I noticed all the way at the bottom that it requires an iPhone 6S or newer running iOS 14. He’s got a 6 running iOS 12. So no go for him. Will likely cancel the order and try to find a 5 for cheap.

Just ordered the Blue Braided Loop for my new watch. It looks so comfy.

Get dad the new SE and keep your watch order. Be that good son. :D

Love the Gold SS with Leather Link in Baltic Blue. Well looks amazing on the site. Can't buy the Cellulars in Ireland though.

I do like the look, except for the new leather loop. I think it is hideous compared to current leather loops. Congrats on getting a new watch.

I flirted with gold and decided it might be a bit flashy for me, and went with Graphite instead.

Nice! Sounds like a worthwhile upgrade then 🔥 I'll take that 4x performance!

I was on the second the event ended and the page went up. They all were listed 25-29/30. I don't know what was actually available Friday.

But like wirh most Apple orders, it will probably ship sooner than the dates said.
I’m the same way. I actually went to the store before the event ended and found it open and got in. I still got the 25/29 dates. However, Apple does have the reputation of under promising and over delivering so it could be delivered sooner.

I have had the Apple 3 LTE version for the past couple of years but didn't use the cell service much so I dropped it. I figured it was time to upgrade to the 6 and just ordered the 44mm version without LTE since I don't use it and always have my phone.....Looking forward to the new bells and whistles... :)

I think I’ve figured out what‘s going on with the shipping vs delivery info we are getting. This is what my order page looks like:

Items to be Shipped

Shipment 1
Ships: 2–4 business days
Delivers: Delivers Sep 25 - Sep 29 by Standard Delivery

What they are saying is that they will ship within 2-4 business days, but, mainly because of COVID-19 it may be between the 25th to 29th before it is delivered. Especially if they are coming from China.

I note that earlier on the order the say:

Your delivery date reflects no-contact safeguards put in place to protect employees, delivery partners, and customers. We appreciate your patience.

Once the watch ships Apple has no control over how long it will take for delivery, so they are hedging their bets.

there were a limited number of combinations that listed the 18th as the delivery date... like literally a single combination per case... for aluminum it was the white sports band with silver and the black sports band with space gray. the moment you picked ANY other band (including the new solo bands) it became 25-29. it seems apple had a small number of pre-assembled bundles in "common" pairings to meet the friday claim but realistically the vast majority of custom combos have to be put together and that takes time to next week.
