i was waiting, then just went back in asked for a refund, and took another contract out, by the time i walked out the shop it was working,, i know this isnt a option for some waiting for a number port, but surely its worth a try,,, o2 really messed up on this BIG time...

Any more still waiting?

Surely not?

I'm still waiting...
I was first into the cpw store in Lancaster on fri and bought a 16gb iPhone. Wasn't activated by Mon and after Reading this thread I called o2 and was told I'd receive a return call within 5hrs. Still no call by tues night so I called again. This time I was told 24 hrs. By this evening I still had no responce so o called again. I was told two hrs and after they'd expired I called again. This time I was told my activation is being processed and there's nothing can do to speed it up, just be patient and o2 are sorry for the delay.

I think I might return to the carphone wjarehouse I got it from tomorrow and see if they can sort it out for me

Al I can say is to keep on calling. It took 3call backs for me to get sorted. Even then i'm still not active LOL

Well now, I decided to go to a completely different CPW store (there are several within Gateshead Metrocentre) and spoke to the lovely manager named Sarah. Anyway, she called up 'IT' and they forced the order closed as my order was in a frozen state/left open by someone else.

She then completed the outstanding tasks eg Credit Check, Sign contract etc etc and said (by this time Sarah had to leave for home and was replaced by a colleague named Victoria) with any luck I should be activated soon.

So much happier I left the store and by the time I hit the car park (10 mins later) I heard the beeps I've waiting for since I bought the bloody phone - the text messages that activate it; yay!

So I guess its completely down to who you speak to, think I'll pop up back this week at some point and get them some chocolates or summat. It's really annoying considering the so called main 'iphone cpw store' didn't have a clue on how to proceed but one of the smaller cpw stores did.

Anyway, anyone still awaiting activation I would ring CPW to ensure that your 'order' is closed otherwise you won't even be in the activation queue.

Mark

ps If the store is unable to close the order, get CPW store to ring IT to force closure. Takes around 15 mins.
pps IT also need to assign the iphone from the CPW online branch code to the store code you are visiting.

Ignore this post I see you got it all sorted!! .. sorry!

I'm pretty much in the same boat.. called O2 customer services in the morning and am now awaiting a call back from the back office team (the team that apparently get you working) within a 5 hours time window. Currently at 3-4 hours so fingers crossed! :)

Following day I take it down to CPW (the branch that should have received the phone) Gateshead but they are unable to close the order as the kit is (still) assigned to the CPW Online branch code and until they move it to their own branch; the order woill stay open. So.. if the order aint closed then the phone can not be activated. However, I was told at the time (Saturday!) that it should be closed by Monday but to be fair I've never had time to visit the shop so that question is still hanging the air 4 days later. Hopefully O2 will be able to resolve without involving those incompetant eejits at CPW - here is hoping. :(

I had the same problem as you .. the only way the order was able to get shut down was to go into my local store (they couldnt get into the order as it was showing as another store had the order ie web) and the manager phoned their IT department .. he was on the phone for 1 hour before it got sorted out and then 30 mins later I got the first signal ..

O2 would never have been able to activate because my details didnt get pushed thru to their system until CPW closed down the order!!

All the best with this

As of 10 mins ago, I'm now active. I turned my phone on at 8, and it still said No Service.

so if you called sometime yesterday, shouldnt be too long now.

I'm still not active. And I got mine from an O2 store first thing Friday. Called O2 a few times monday, tuesday and wednesday and kept on being told that I would be phoned back in 5 hours. never happened. Couldn't be bothered to phone again today and talk to more idiots.

If it's not active my saturday I'll return it, get a refund and go to the Apple store on regent street.

What a complete joke. It's not like it can even be a CPW muckup since I went to an O2 store.

Still Waiting......!

Just to update and let everyone know that I'm still waiting. I've called them four times and I've been into o2 and Carphone warehouse stores and I've just been told that I will be activated shortly but I just have to be patient.

Well... my SIM was activated on Wednesday, but I am still waiting for the number port from Vodafone (Sunday)

So I just called o2 support, and guess what? No record of my transfer request or PAC code.

Grrrr.

They tell me it will now be Tuesday.

Have you asked them to see if your order is still 'open' ? If it is then you *must* call into the shop.

superleccy:

Thats one thing they got sorted straight away for me.. number was ported approx 10 mins; request made on Thursday (3 day window).
