Anybody in UK still waiting for SIM activation?

Sorted finally
Right been waiting since friday, so gave up today went in to apple store, got refund, walked over and set up a new contract and buy the time she had printed the receipt i had signal.... thank goodness its over,,,...

Connected at last
Rang O2 this afternoon, after giving details of where /when/how purchased
operator said connection team will be in touch today
then at 3pm finally got a service signal etc.

Yep. Finally activated after 80 plus hours. Just glad to be able to make a call. O2 made good on their promise of activating in the next five hours.
can you tell us what you did ? phone on - beep beep your on? or turn phone off and then beep beep
Left the phone on but nothing happened. At about 5.15PM turned it off then on, 3 text messages came through and there was service signals in the top right. It seems that you need to turn the phone off and then on otherwise it won't connect you to the network even though O2 have sorted things out from their end. My original call to O2 was around 2PM.
Someone earlier in the thread suggested turning flight mode on and off instead of turning the phone on and off to save time and does exactly the same thing.
Well I am still waiting for my contract to be activated.
I have had a new phone since Friday, I got my first iPhone 3G on Friday morning but the headphone/microphone jack was dead and Apple replaced it for me today.
I still haven't had a signal since Friday, despite O2 saying it would be sorted by 8:50 PM.

not on your own .. still waiting here .. ordered last monday, collected friday from store .. 'No Service' the only thing I'm seeing in the top left corner .. grrrrrrr ..

i found if i have 3g enabled in a non 3g area ( like inside your house ) it will not get a signal
try turning 3g off and do the airplane mode and see if it connects in ?

I just got off the phone to O2.
The first girl I spoke to was of no help and tried to blame me.
The second girl, asked me to get my SIM Card out and reader the number on the back. She said that O2 had made a mistake on my account by one digit. She changed it and within seconds I had service.
She said to call them later and they'll sort me out with some money off my bill.

Mine finally activated at 10pm last night.
Seems O2 managed to find my details on their system after all because upon logging into my account using the details texted to me, the "order reference" is the same as the one I obtained in the Apple Store on Friday morning.
Hey, only an 86 hour wait (with several chasers) to get an activated phone. I wonder whether the number port will go through this week as promised...

Mine activated last night at 8pm also. Took 16hrs for someone from CPW to call me to try and sell me insurance.
Now, wouldn't be nice if someone from O2 gave us a free case or something for the hours we all spent trying to fix this!
