Has anyone from CPW actually been activated yet?

Hi. The info I'm getting over at autumnskies.co.uk/iphone is that CPW Online orders placed on Monday are still waiting, but ones placed later in the week have been going through - not all of them, but many.

Bought from Apple store - no service

my wife and I got ours from the Apple store in the trafford centre on friday
Sunday night, 22.20 no service

.

Three companies, one product, £249 shared between them - and as my iPhone quite rightly says ... "No Service."

This made me chuckle. 3 days and counting... Thanks for the updates everyone. Just rejoined the thread. Hopefully we'll get a signal by 1pm tomorrow. I've given up on ringing O2/CPW as it just ends up nowhere each and everytime.

As a tip to check if your phone is activated or not, rather than turning it on and off all the time, you can call it from another phone and if you're still not connected it'll say "the number you have called is not recognised, please check the number..."

Also, turning it to Airplane mode and back should make it start "searching" for service again as well, so no need to turn the phone off.

O2 said earlier that all their backlogs should be dealt with by end of business today. 6pm is end of business is it not? Still "No Service".

Nice tips, thanks. I've been turning my phone off and on for the past 3 days in the *hope* that I would get a signal lol.

Not just me then. I was getting worried that maybe I'd failed the credit check or something. Thanks.

I am not so bothered that I haven't been activated yet, as I was expecting a long delay like this and my N95 still makes calls.

Good luck

got mine from O2 guildford at about 11 on friday... got bill at 10AM today!!!!! I was not amused at being billed before signal! Service activation occured at about 4.40PM today...

played about 10mins of SMB used GPS for about 20mins in google maps and sent about 18 texts standby all day otherwise with 3g and wifi on... battery dead by 9 pm... how unbelievably crappy!!!

slightly off topic but it's really starting to get to me!

O2 and CPW are making an absolute fortune from all our calls (and mostly 'holding') via 0870 numbers to them! .. surely they should give all the money they make on the calls back to the customers who are being so inconvenienced! .. lol, as if they could manage to organize that even if they wanted to!!!!

I queued from 6 AM at Euston station, London, to be one of the first to get my hands on the iPhone 3G. I upgraded from my sim-only simplicity tariff and they told me my new tariff will be activated in 24 hours. Came to work and activated my iPhone with my current SIM. Works fine, but I still don;t have the unlimited data tariff, so it's advanced features are useless to me, as I would have paid a fortune if I used them on my current tariff. This is really frustrating, to have a functional iPhone but being limited to Wifi if I use internet (and that is without all the wifi spots O2 gives you access to with the iPhone tariffs). So, after spending 2 hours getting it working with the WPA2 - Enterpise + Certificates Wifi at my work, I finally could see what it would be like using 3G.

I call O2 every day and every day they tell me its gonna take 24 hours more. WTF?

I hope, for their sake, they wont start billing me until it's activated, because if they do I'll probably lose my mind, it's that frustrating.

Czechmac I'm in roughly the same boat as you, I've upgraded from sim only and still not on the iphone tariff but there is an upside for me I'm able to burn through my sim only credit. My contract month usually starts at like the 15th so hopefully it'll automatically switch if there having issues otherwise it's just a matter of waiting. I guess it's cause it's the weekend, I mean has anyone actually known the UK service industry to work over the weekend...:D

I'm another CPW customer bought in-store (Orpington) around half 10 on the Friday with no service. After I activated mine through iTunes and found I had no service, I activated my mums phone but within 2 minutes, her phone had full signal and 3G connection (we have the same tariff). We are both new customers to O2, so it seems odd that her SIM was activated after mine wasn't successful. 57 hours after I bought mine, still no service.

Guys, use saynoto0870.com to find alternative numbers. I very rarely call an 0870 or 0845 number these days.

It wins the award for worst site design but on the other hand it's got an impressive database of alternative numbers.

this is stupid !!!! it's monday for gods sake and still no activation:mad:

if this was any other mobile phone we all would have took it back by now and got refunds and gone elsewhere

Right, I'm active!!

So it should hold some hope for you guys that they are getting round to it!
The amazing part, I failed the credit check, but my contract was "puched through" (I've only been 18 just over a month), either way it looks like all iPhone contracts are being looked at individually and not going through an automated system which could be why they are taking so long!

Good luck guys! Hope your activated soon!

Oh btw, I brought it Friday morning from O2 retail.

Thanks! .. I used the O2 0800 005 005 number .. not only is it free but it's quicker too! .. I was only in the queue for 5 minutes!!

The 'activation team' are going to call me back *ahem* .. I'm not at all convinced but we'll see! lol

Just got off the phone to 02 for the 173783829th time
This weekend only to be told the same
Old **** although I was promised that all activations would take place
By the close of play today. ....... Strange that I was also told that this would be the case on Friday saturday and Sunday!

FYI I am a new contract user who purchased from the carphone warehouse ....

K .. off the phone (again!!)

Called the CPW where I collected the iPhone from to see if I was showing on their computer as the details having been sent to O2 .. answer? NO!!
Apparently my order had not been 'closed down' which is what should have happened .. so I phoned CPW CS and after an hour of back and forth stuff they have now closed my order so it will be (allegedly) activated within 24 hours!

Time will tell! lol

What time was you at the Trafford Centre from and til?

I too was there friday, got there just as the final black sheeting was coming down at 8:02! approx 8 people already sat, and I was 6th in queue stood up.
I eventually left the Apple store at 4:30pm !!!

An yep, still not activated!

activation

I was first in line friday morning, and my phone still wasn't working today.

I called o2 to see what the delay was and they said they don't show an account for me at all, and then I read somewhere to occasionally turn your phone off and back on, and it just activated.

The phone number that o2 gave me isn't the same as what came through on my phone as well as the txt they sent me doesn't have the same log in info as what they emailed me (they have emailed me 3 different log ins actually so who know)

but it's working just gotta wait. I was told as well your billing doesn't start till the phone activates.

I'm a CPW friday morning over-the-phone upgrader from a 2G non-iPhone. Still awaiting SIM activation since i activated via iTunes on saturday morning.

I got a 'thank you for upgrading' text offering me 'treats' but my account is clearly still on the sim-only tariff.

I also have a mysterious 'O2 Gateway Bundle' order on my account that's at status 'Completed' but no idea what that is.

On the upside maybe I'll get lucky and they've forgotten to put me on the 18 month tariff.. second hand 3g iphone anyone? :p

Edit: Called O2 treats: 'We've noticed you already have a treat'. Um..no.. you just texted me 20 minutes ago offering me one.
