Franchise or purchase

Hi guys,

A while ago someone asked which is the better way, franchise or own a business outright.

There was a link attached for the answer to this question leading us to the proboards forum. And it says there that if u franchise a business u make less for jobs but if u purchase it u get the full income. i've been having doubts about this because when i try to franchise a business i see that there is a + x% income so according to this i should make more for jobs not less. So i gave it a try and purchased a business from the store. (it was a very low popularity business, just right for this experiment) and it gave me 46coins for three minutes. i deleted it and franchised the same business from a friend and it gave me 64coins for three minutes. So i'm a little confused about the answer in the proboards forum that says u make less for jobs. i really think it's better to franchise. Plus the jobs are free am i right?

MORNING! Happy friday. I noticed the 3x the gifts thing...they MUST have lowered the amount of population you get normally because I used to almost get 1000 from a gift of population (I think it was 2x 483 or something?) and this morning when I got my population gift (if it was from anyone here, THANK YOU!!! <3) which was supposed to be 3x the amount, it wasn't even close to 1000 from what I could tell.

though I didn't buy, delete & rebuy to check the answer, I thought this was an off answer too. I think u r right that it is better to franchise. I get more money from my franchised stores & in the long run, getting the jobs free is better & saves a lot of money.

Yeah, it doesn't...the x3 gives you 525 people. That means the new default is 175 people for a regular population gift.

I mean, what the hell Booyah! I get all excited about this x3 promotion, but it's all smoke and mirrors. No wonder population is now a Level 3 gift...you get 5 times less people! X3 coins, lightning, experience, and check-ins are already useless...pretty unreal move...

I swear, this upcoming land / level release had better be insane if they wanna maintain their player base.

I hope an update comes soon...until then I'm going to hoard bucks just in case. Pretty bummed about the population thing. It was such a good way to grow the city without having to buy a whole bunch of crap I didn't want. I wish there were more decorations to differentiate towns a little more...I made this suggestion to Booyah when they did that little survey.

But I totally agree...now that I"m at level 50, I don't care about check-ins, lightning, or XP stars. The only good gifts are the pop and bucks and now the pop isn't even that great. Wah woh!

i think booyah knows we are having trouble saving bucks and this triple rewards thing is only for us to make more bucks. That's the only positive thing we get from it. And also i got three bucks from the errands today in an hour. So i'm guessing they are trying to give us more bucks. That's just my opinion of course.

As a Long Islander, I have access to all of NYC and its boroughs, north Jersey, all of Connecticut and apparently also Philadelphia, PA (about a 2 hr drive), as far as I can tell. I don't get access to Boston, MA which is about 215 miles away.

If you don't live close to a lot of popular places, you will often see only bucks. BUT if go exploring to local areas by you, this will change to mostly coin offers.

I can tell you how to use location services to pay for ANY business in coins, but it is better to PM me for that. Several players have discussed their strategies for doing so on the forum already.

No offense taken. But, next time please send me a message instead of calling me out on the board. It's fine though, because it gives me a chance to pimp the Forum. Please trust that my intentions are good.

1. I started that Forum just a few days ago to HELP the MT2 players. We all met on this board, that's what we have in common. The reality though is that this is a SINGLE THREAD of a much larger forum. Because this thread is getting so long, it's hard to find answers and information to basic questions about the game. I noticed some newbies were "complaining" about their posts and questions getting passed over. And people were asking questions that have already been answered several times on this thread. I thought it would be good to have an organized Forum entirely dedicated to MT2. As you can see there are several different sections and each topic can be its own thread. Members can still have general banter (the best part) about the game and request franchising and gifts etc. And also contribute content that will help other players.

We had a forum like this for the Original MT called "mytownies.net" that was AWESOME! Ended up having hundreds of members and was the most complete guide to MT that you can imagine.

So, in a Forum environment, if someone asks a question - it gets answered - and anyone else down the road can find it easily.

I was honestly hoping that we could kind of move this thread and it's members over there and continue with ALL existing members. By no means am I trying to divide or disperse this great community.

It's obvious that most of the members here are the most dedicated, knowledgable, hard-core MT2 players in the world. It would make sense to have these people contribute to the best MT2 Forum.

Anyone can contribute. If anyone wants to help add content or even moderate parts of the board - let me know.

2. My bad. Honest mistake - I thought you were asking for the most popular "Travel Business" so I was pointing out that any business could be a travel business.

FYI, http://mytown2.proboards.com was created only 3 days ago. We have 10 members - 16 Topics - most viewed post is 60 times. Not bad. If it happens, it happens.. if no interest.. no biggie.

But this post is PERFECT for a MT2 forum. (And if you don't mind, can I copy your response under my original post about franchising?)

As you can see from my post above, I am trying to get the forum going. These types of posts will educate and stimulate dialogue.

Plus, as you know, this games is changing the rules what seems to be daily, so ongoing discussions about individual topics can be very valuable.

I am not sure if you do understand, completely. Turning off location services and then checking in after a game restart to manually set location is fairly well-known. What I am saying is unless you are using an I-Pad (ie, works for i-touch and all i-phones), there is a way you can keep changing the location so that if you pick the "wrong" one you have as many bites at the apple as you want. It's a bit risky but the payoff has led many users straight to the top. Only a desire to strengthen the popularity of some of my favorite Long Island hangouts and a lack of space have prevented me from conqueroring the MT2 world. LOL.

Also, I just finished putting my town back to good (I had all offices and a farm of wonders) and now that I've bought up all my land and filled it all.... I want to completely re-do it. Except.... No room to move things!! Ahhhh!! Lol
