For those with the 12.9 - are there still issues with apps not being optimized for the size? I originally purchased the 12.9 a couple years back, but I could not get over how bad the majority of apps looked and returned it. I am interested in a 12.9 for the office and I have a 10.5 already. Has this experience improved? More of the same?

I have had that happen before. At least you have the option of canceling if you find another iPad to purchase elsewhere.

Update; I've just had an email from Tesco (UK supermarket for those not in the UK) to say they have the 12.9 256GB in stock. So have ordered for pick up this Saturday. A bonus was that I got £70 off as I shop with them so paid £790.

So....next question is, should I use what I've saved to buy AppleCare Plus which is £89? The one from John Lewis comes with a 2 year guarantee which is why I was going to buy from there in the first place. What do yo guys think? Do you buy AC+ for your iPads?

Can't say I've ever used it on any Apple product. If it covered theft I would do it but not sure it's worth it unless you are clumsy

Personally I never purchase AppleCare for my iPads. I am very cautious and I use solid protection for the iPad. Others might need it, I don't require it. It's likely based on do you think it would be beneficial to you.

I think it's just the thought of having an extended warranty. I've never actually had to use it as I too am very careful with my stuff. I have it on my iPhone 7 Plus as I bought last year on the Apple upgrade programme but my phone is perfect and in mint condition. As I say, it's the knowledge of knowing it's there. Plus, I think it makes it easier to sell after year 1.

Fist impressions are that it's noticeably lighter than my 1st gen, although that was a cellular model (if that makes any difference?)

Also, I'm not sure its worth starting another thread but, what do you usually look for when you buy a new iPad? Me, I just look for dead pixels. I take screen shots of white, black, blue and green, then up the brightness and check to see if I can see any. I once had an iPhone, 4 I think and it had a dead pixel top right of the screen. I haven't seen any on any iPads but just wondered if you check anything else?

I will be completely honest with you. I don't look for anything unless it completely stands out to me. I say that because is that I don't want to cause myself to start searching for issues on an iPad, which could lead someone to start searching for any defects/artifacts on
the display for every model they return there after.

I plan on using the device straight out of the box and if something is widely apparent to me that is an issue, then I will go from there To reconcile the problem.

those who have both models

hows it going? you finding you still use both equally?

I feel I'm using mine in equal measures. I mainly use my 12.9 for YouTube in bed or to write an email or diary. I also prefer the 12.9 for reading the news on.

The 10.5 is easier to travel with and to take to work, or as last night to my girlfriends. Whist I was there I watched a Netflix movie and wished I had the 12.9 with me. The 10.5 is great for carrying around the house or quickly checking these forums or Facebook.

I don't regret buying both because I would miss the one I didn't have. Sometimes I come home from work and just "feel" like grabbing one to the other.

Nope, because I have the iPad Air 2 also so there is no need to get the 10.5 iPad Pro.

I actually carry the 12.9 iPad Pro in my brief case everywhere and leave the iPad Air 2 at home.

Which case do you use when out and about?

Still thinking long and hard about getting the 10.5 too for out and about and work.

My ipad mini 4 contract ends in september so dunno wether to start a new contract with the 10.5 instead. just paying out for something else is just one thing i'm not convinced i should do.

I guess you’ve got to think that getting both is a bit of a luxury and you don’t really need 2. It’s about how much you want both. That’s about it. Nobody “needs” 2 iPads but it’s nice if you want both and can afford both.

For me, I’m not going on any holidays this year so that’s how I justify buying both.

I have both the 12.9 and 10.5. I even upgraded to the gen 2 12.9 :) I don't use the 10.5 much at home since the screen is on the small side to use for long periods of time. I mainly plan to use it at coffee shops etc. and while traveling. I took my 10.5 LTE to a doctor's appointment and was using it while I waited for about 45 minutes. The time definitely went by faster when I was able to distract myself.
