If only the 15Plus had 90hz screen refresh rate…
Agree was hoping they'd up it a bit, but it still now gets the 2000 max brightness, and better standard brightness as per 14/15 Pro, just miss the promotion, which technically because of the name will never get! as non Pro!

Have to say glad they've upped the brightness as on my 14 pro compared to friends standard 14, the screen is a lot brighter outside

I think I'm going for the 15+ too, but yeah, the colors seem washed out, like they faded. But I need to see them in person and also feel them both in my hand.

15PM looks cool, but I'd be worried about the weight. The blue 15PM will sell like crazy.
Which colour going for?

Not quite accurate. What they're doing is what the 14 Pros offered with the 2x zoom - it captures using the full main lens and then crops it down for 2x equivalent. The only time the telephoto lens on the newer phones engages is with 3x or higher.
Apple is not the first company to downsample photos for enhanced digital zoom, so I understand what it’s doing, but in the end it’s digital zoom. They describe it on the landing page as ”optical quality“ 2x zoom and go as far as listing it on the specs as optical zoom, but it’s not optical, which requires dedicated camera hardware. At 2x it’s probably pretty close, but I think Apple is misleading people that they are getting optical zoom without a dedicated telephoto lens like the pros.

New 15 have optical 2x.

I don’t like the 15 colours, and love the Pro colours!?! But just can’t stomach the Pro prices.

Might just have to go black 15 Plus, and get a nice case as normally do anyway
They don’t have a physical third telephoto lens like the pros to be actual optical zoom. They are using software to downsample and crop the main lens for improved digital zoom. It might be close enough because it’s very slight zoom, but it’s not true optical zoom. I have a 13 pro max and not the 14 pro which has the same downsampling technology, but I just think apple is misleading people here to think they are getting actual optical zoom on their 15’s.

I have always bought the pro max but I really dislike the bland colours (why oh why apple) and thinking of going the pink 15 Plus this year. I just don't want to be disappointed that I didn't get the top spec model. I don't know what to do!

I know little about photography, I was only going off what specs said.

I thought there was a definite difference between optical and digital zoom no matter what. As in digital is just cropped/zonked into the image from what you have, whereas optical the lens actually gets closer

I have a digital camera that has 20x optical zoom, as in the camera lens zooms in.

So your telling me this is software, and is not optical? So how can Apple advertise this as optical if it isn’t? Surely they’ve checked this, even with lawyers as customers, especially more knowledgable about this sort of thing like yourselves, would know this?

The screen IS also upgraded this year at least per the keynote., not just the 2000 nits brightness but I think they said it was also OLED like the pro models. Just not the 120 hz motion.

It’s been OLED for a while now, at least since 13 on the non Pro’s

I really want to go with a larger phone this year, but I just don't know if the pro features are necessary for me. I have my Always-On display turned off on my 14 Pro, and I just really don't notice promotion very much on my phone.

Really tempted to just go with the 15+, and the pink color doesn't hurt my feelings. ;-p
I am highly considering the exact same thing minus the + size. I just don't use a lot of the pro features.

Absolutely go with the Plus. The only reason I'm going with the 15 PM is the always on display. If you don't want or need the AOD, Plus IMO is the way to go. Much lighter!!

I was thinking I might utilize the AOD in nightstand mode though. That was one of the new features that kind of excited me for this year. I like it on my watch, and like how it looks like it’ll be on the phone.

But yeah, the fact that I could go bigger than my pro, AND lighter (albeit not by much) is so tempting.

I’m pretty sure that AOD on devices without AOD will allow the very slightest tap touch on the surface of a table that a stand is on to illuminate the dimmed display.. this is how the watch works, even without AOD or AOD enabled.

AOD on the watch uses 10-15% of power, so I don’t find enough value vs. wrist raise to use it. The phone is more efficient that the watch in this respect.

I plan on upgrading from a 128GB iPhone 11 to the 256GB 15 plus. I'm at about 93 of my 128GB used and I'd like a bigger screen. Plus, my phone isn't lasting all day like it used to. It's had a good run

How is the speed of your 11? Still fast or slowing down and laggy?

I don’t really need to get up at 5am to place this preorder, do I? What are the chances my color of choice will sell out in the next few hours after that?

I went to an ATT store today to make my decision. While the 14 Plus was nice, the 60hz refresh was a staggering difference. The 120hz makes everything feel fast and seamless. I wish I could get the Plus, but I’m going with the Pro Max. 120hz or bust!

I'm thinking blue, but want to see how it looks in person first. Yourself?

I wanted blue but looks too washed out on pics. Can change when see in person but just looks too light for me.

Other colours don’t like, so just going black I think. The black looks to be pretty similar to the Pro black, they normally differentiate I think

Wanted to tell you that I actually ended up pre-ordering the 15 Plus for myself today. (In green.) I didn't think the always on display was worth $300 more versus the 15 Pro Max plus I really prefer the lighter weight of the 15 Plus in comparison (20 grams difference).

I ended up going with the Plus over the Pro Max as well. The weight difference was the deciding factor for me.
