Wanted to tell you that I actually ended up pre-ordering the 15 Plus for myself today. (In green.) I didn't think the always on display was worth $300 more versus the 15 Pro Max plus I really prefer the lighter weight of the 15 Plus in comparison (20 grams difference).

I wound up going with the pro max. The only positive of the plus for me was the weight, and I figured if I really wanna try to keep the phone a couple years, I know I’ll want the maximum amount of features I can get. It’s less weight than if I would’ve gone pro last year, which I almost did, so I think it’ll be okay. It’s not really much more weight than my 14 pro.

I also ordered a Plus in Pink and get rid of my Max. I can’t wait to get my 40g less weight phone

That’s gonna be nice! I wound up with the pro max. I was going 20g less or 20g more than my 14 pro, and I just decided to make the pro max jump now since I didn’t last year - at least it weighs less than it did. ;-p

I was undecided until the very last minute but I am going on vacation on the 23rd and by the time I finally managed to access the Apple Store page, the Pro Max wasn’t available until October and I really wanted to take advantage of A better camera on vacation. Launch day 15 Plus (blue) for me! Coming from a 12 Pro Max, I am looking forward to a somewhat lighter phone

I'll be curious to hear your thoughts when you get it.

I wound up with pro max for reasons mentioned in the post above.
I’m coming from a regular 13, for me I felt going from a phone weighing 6.15oz to 7.8oz with the Pro Max was too big of a jump in weight.

You are making a much smaller weight jump so I’m sure it will work out well for you.

I really want to go with a larger phone this year, but I just don't know if the pro features are necessary for me. I have my Always-On display turned off on my 14 Pro, and I just really don't notice promotion very much on my phone.

Really tempted to just go with the 15+, and the pink color doesn't hurt my feelings. ;-p
I was going to get the IPhone 15 plus with 256gb, but I realized something.

The iPhone 15 plus with 256gb = $1000

iPhone 15 pro max 256gb= $1200

Trade in value of iPhone 12 plus with extra storage = $250

Trade in value of a IPhone 12 Pro Max = $450

In the end BOTH iPhone’s will cost me $750 in the end when I trade in as the pro max keeps its value significantly since I’ll get $200 more when I trade it in. Apple groups the plus and regular non-pro together. If you get extra storage, it doesn’t determine their value….

I trade in my iPhone every 3 years as the battery degrades the most, so this might not apply to everyone

I think that’s why I didn’t make the jump to pro max last year. I found the pro pretty heavy coming from a regular phone. This jump won’t be as significant, and a lot of people have said the weight is more disbursed so it’s not as brickish. We shall see. ;-p

no point gong from pro to pro battery is the same

Well I was going from regular to pro. I almost went to pro max, but wound up passing because of the big jump in weight. This year it won’t be as much of a jump, and I think having had the pro, I’ll be able to move to this slightly lighter weight max without noticing much difference.

that's what I meant 14 pro to 15 pro max not 14 pro to 15 pro

I am glad to have made a decision, and I really think I’ll be happy with my choice. A pink plus was actually what I was hoping for before release, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized I’d probably miss some features (I use my macro photography a pretty good bit), and if I want to go more than a year, I feel like there is less I’ll be missing out on next year by going ahead with the pro max.

Honestly the macro thing is something I’m going to miss 100% but I am not using it very often. But if it’s something you use on a regular basis I guess it’s good that you went with the Max

Not daily or anything, but often enough I think I’d miss it when I tried to use it and it wasn’t there. Lol

Well, in all fairness if one equalizes the onboard storage capacity, it’s really on $200.. yes, one can get the plus for less overall with only 128GB storage (which for me, for most things is fine) but the pro max starts now at double that storage at 256GB

So, technically for the pro max one is paying $200 for 8 GM RAM, much better camera (not that valuable to me personally) 120hz pro motion screen, titanium, action button, A17 chip, 3nm chip-set (probably better battery life than reported by apple IMHO),, and a couple other things.
And Lidar and dual frequency GPS.

Still trying to decide between Plus and Pro Max. Biggest issue for me is, I think, the camera - trying to get photos of things like birds and butterflies where the zoom is possible a significant advantage.

120mm isn't really enough reach to get good bird pics so don't let that sway you.

Just hoping they might be better than I can get with my 12 Pro!

Of course, I need a true telephoto to achieve 'good' photos. And a bit of skill wouldn't go amiss. :D

Yes, there are many things..

Vis a vis camera, I think what is also pulling me to the Pro Max is having a macro mode again, which the base models still Don’t have. Really comes in handy more often than one would expect.
