there’s no reasoning with this kind of comment.
I argue there isn’t much point reasoning with your comment. Do you know what their workload is? an iPad has flaws for sure considering how many applications are missing but people do real work on the iPads everyday. You realise that right?

Yes. I work on mine everyday. But he said the machine is ‘too capable’. In computing in general, it’s only with the iPad that I have heard such things as it being ‘too capable’ or it has ‘too much ram’. Let’s be fair, these are ridiculous comments to make for a computing system. How on earth can it be too capable for any workload.

Maybe he was just being sarcastic, joking about how powerful it is. No reason to get all bent out of shape about it

They comment the same things all the time in every ‘I like the iPad’ thread. I’m not bent out of shape, don’t be absurd. It’s an Internet forum, you’re supposed to comment on things, as you have with me.

Honestly kinda confused by the reactions really. I feel like a lot of the issues that I have personally ran into are a result of app developers not updating their applications to work properly (e.g. for some reason some word documents not opening in Word for iPad but working fine for the mac)

Sure, there are limitations as a result of iPadOS like the multitasking but despite that, its still a very capable device. I feel like too many people saw the M1 in the iPad and ran wild with it despite no promises or indications towards a massive overhaul of iPadOS.
I agree. I came from a first generation iPad Pro. So for me, this has been a huge upgrade. It's a great device and as usual, it will take some time for all of its potential to be capitalized upon.

I am sure i would be enjoying it... IF i had upgraded my 2018 11” iPad Pro...but i didn’t. Not only because I still enjoy my current iPad... but the fact that the 2021 11” iPad Pro did not get a mini LED screen & “pro“ apps like Final Cut for the ipad Pro were not announced at WWDC. I think i will wait another year. 😉

Sure am, so much so I sold my 2.5 year old 11” and my 5.5 year old 2015 fusion 27” iMac, all in with 12.9” and MGK.
I took a punt and bought on release day from a local retailer with no return unless faulty.
Got 50% back from what I paid for my old iMac and iPad too.
Tax right off and GST back. Happy days.

Loving my new 11“ iPad Pro. Not interested in iOS 15 or Pro apps, only interested in speed, and this thing‘s got it.

Lumafusion is working excellent
This M1 ipad pro probably for most users will last more than the ipad 2

The only thing absurd is letting comments like that even bother you at this point but your life.

Loving my new 11 inch Pro. I’m coming from the original 9.7 Pro which is still going strong with my granddaughter.

It always takes me a few weeks to get settled with accessories and now I’m totally all set.

I was disappointed and let down by iOS 15 and the lack of pro apps but then I remembered I only use my m1 pro to scroll twitter/facebook/macrumors/youtube, lose money on Robinhood land do some remote work so yeah Im quite content Lol although the iPad Air would probably do everything I need at 1/3 the cost 🤷🏽‍♂️

If it's 1/3 the cost, then that's not really apples to apples. Reckon that's comparing a base 64GB Air 4 ($550-600) with a 1TB Pro ($1499-1999).

The primary reason I get the iPad Pros is because I can't get the storage I want on the Air.

Having just 64GB storage on the iPad would result in a lot of frustration for me. It was frustrating enough back in 2012 and my storage needs have increased since then. I upgraded from the iPad 3 to 4 within 10 months just for 128GB. Updating apps would constantly fail on the iPad 3 because it kept dropping to 0MB free. Deciding which content I should delete to make room for more was agonizing.

Well to be fair you can get 256gb on the air. But it’s harder to justify getting the air if you do the storage upgrade when it’s so close to the iPad Pro pricing at that point

I absolutely love my new M1 iPad Pro! I have some extremely large Microsoft Excel files with complex formulas which benefit from the multi-core processing power of the M1. This thing puts my work-issued laptop with an Intel 10th gen I5 to shame. Formula’s that would take over 90 seconds to crunch are now processing in under 30 seconds.

And for me, ProMotion is an absolute must. The silky smooth scrolling makes me prefer to do any web scrolling on my iPad vs iPhone. And the speakers are loud enough that I can listen to podcasts just by setting it on the counter when I take a shower. I love that!
