I kinda did this. I was using my 6+ as my daily driver, until I got the S6 Edge. Absolutely love this little guy. As much as I still have a soft spot for Apple, IMO the S6 Edge almost makes the iPhone look...average. I was heavily tied into the iEcosystem...but Samsung's smart switch app helped a lot with that. Transferred all of my music, matched up the apps on my iPhone with the apps in the play store, and transferred all of my text messages/contacts/videos/alarms/calendar info/ect. IMO the S6 Edge is best phone out today.

Will that change when the next generation iPhone drops this fall? Who's to say. But I'm hoping Apple has more than just a GB more of RAM and a slightly better camera in store for the new iPhone. Samsung is killing it right now, with their latest flagships. Screen resolution, outstanding camera, no slow downs, awesome processor, more than 1GB of RAM, great software (never thought I'd ever say that about TW) Samsung deserves the credit they are getting right now, despite what some of the apple faithful think. I'm hoping this makes Apple up their game for next iPhone. Competition is good for the consumers.

How are you comparing native versus something iOS cannot do? iOS can't do attachments in replies without a jailbreak. Android has regular app alternatives for FaceTime and continuity

Because you can insert a photo or video into a reply and there are ways to send an email with other attachment types, like pdf. So it's not
like an attachment can't be sent.

Yes you are right about images from the camera roll, but you cannot reply to a mail message with a pdf. You must create a new message and copy recipients etc, rather annoying and time consuming if it is something you need to do regularly.

Extensions should let you just pull from Dropbox or something, but not allowed I guess. That sounds like just about the most ideal use of extensions to me, but I must be crazy

Might try to buy one. Have seen photo comparisons and the S6 camera is way better. Foolish to even discuss that part. With 16 mp you get a lot more detail and cropping possibilities. Also 4K video. Yes, in darker conditions the S6 white balance is a little off, but I always edit the photos to make them in natural colors on my iPhone 6 anyway. Also, that double tap on the home button to take a picture is the simplest but yet so useful thing. So tired of 8 MP.

Also I found the fingerprint scanner faster and more reliable, though some disagree.

I can't tell you how many times I used my emails with pdfs and needing to make pdfs in zip files came in handy dealing with a property deal I had done last year.

Emails going to attorney, broker, agent and seller all done through android phones.

Not one person at the closing was using an iPhone because of the ease of open email client on android

Edit most had 2 phones and the iphones we're there non work phones

That is my use case as well, except I skip the zipping and just do multiple PDFs or whatever office doc

To some it's more of an issue than others. If your use case is such that this doesn't work for you than thankfully there are alternatives.

You actually can, it's just not as easy. What you do is compose a new email with the pdf you want to send, then highlight that pdf and select copy. Then go to your other email and hit reply all then in the body paste the pdf you copied and it will attach it. You can even past multiple pdf's into the body if you need to.

But if your going to be sending a lot out, android is a better choice.

IOS native mail does not do this. But 3rd party clients like Cloud Magic due. I can reply right from Cloud Magic with dropbox integrated.

Nobody except geeks will care; the average Apple consumer wants a decent phone. Heck, I don't even care and I understand this Mumbo-jumbo; all I care about is form and function. And while tech sites are talking specs and the 6s and 7 with apparently less capable hardware is beating the pants off the competition, Apple will be selling these phones by the truck load.

Those are largely irrelvent points in the scope of this conversation, as this thread would make no sence if moving from the iPhone 6 to the S6 was a lateral move.

It's not a lateral move. Not even close. It is in fact a massive upgrade to go from an iPhone 6 to a S6, and the same will be true for the 6S because it's just a refresh, not an overhaul.

No one thinks about switching because the iPhone sells well or the consumerist whimsies of plebs.

For me it's literally three things that keeps me on iOS and iPhone.

1- iMessage
2- FaceTime
3- App quality

I would put build quality but it's not the case anymore.

Actually one more is the ecosystem with Apple TV and MacBook. Texting on Mac and so forth

I understand what you're saying but this statement is really relative to the user. For me personally, it would be a huge compromise, because I value some of the functionality and convenience offered within the Apple ecosystem much more. Losing things like iMessage, Continuity and Handoffs, Air Drop, Air Play, Photos and iCloud Photo sharing, Safari (yes, I prefer Safari, especially on my mobile device, can't stand Chrome) just to name a few, would be a huge step backwards for me, all for the sake of some hardware spec bumps. Yes, they may be proprietary but regardless, I use them extensively and prefer their seamless integration into my personal workflow.

It really comes down in most cases to personal preference.

Hangouts replaced facetime and iMessage for me without issue. There's always Skype as well.

And the app quality debate doesn't really hold true for the apps I personally use. Abstractly it may be true but does it manifest in my use? Not really.

Yea I know, thing is my family is not tech savvy and FaceTime is very easy for them. Having them download another app is not ideal. This is of course my situation. I've tried believe me, they always call me say it's not working..

I'll give you app quality to a degree but the other two only matter because they're proprietary, not because they are the best versions of the apps out there.

As far as ecosystem, many would argue that Google has the more robust ecosystem which is why you see developers and tech bloggers using Google services on Apple hardware such as Macs.

My iPhone 6 Plus is a pretty good phone now that ver 8.3 has proven a bit better and reduced the crashes somewhat. Nothing's perfect, just some are better than others. I'm staying put until the next iPhone is released. I'll try that.

I owned an iPhone 6 briefly and an S6 currently.

I think the S6 is the all around better device. I will revist iPhones when the 6S launches,

But even then, in all likelihood, the Galaxy S6 is probably more of a competitor to the iPhone 7, not the 6 or 6S. It's that far ahead of the curve.

So true. I regret my iPhone 6 purchase now and I'm stuck with it now. Wish I had waited to see what the S6 would be like.
