Those are largely irrelvent points in the scope of this conversation, as this thread would make no sence if moving from the iPhone 6 to the S6 was a lateral move.

It's not a lateral move. Not even close. It is in fact a massive upgrade to go from an iPhone 6 to a S6, and the same will be true for the 6S because it's just a refresh, not an overhaul.

No one thinks about switching because the iPhone sells well or the consumerist whimsies of plebs.

How is it a "massive upgrade" to go from an iP6 to an S6? I have both.

I'd love to hear why the S6 is so much better....you can skip the tech specs. I know how to read and really nothing on the specs page means an inherently better phone.

Ugh, to be honest I hate these threads. So repetitive...my phone is better because blah and your phone sucks because blah.

Yeesh....

Screen and camera are probably the biggest ones. It's true that MP's aren't everything but they sure are helpful for added detail...

More MP's = bigger picture, which yes, means more detail when blown up or zoomed in. It also means larger picture file sizes.

The display is very nice. But I wouldn't say it's "massively" better. At least from my subjective staring at both side by side.

As much as I love my iPhone 6 camera(really do) when I zoom in, I start losing detail and I hate that:(

I think both screens are excellent but the only reason the S6 would win is because of the higher density display, and yes, I can tell a clear difference between the 750P iPhone 6 display and the iPhone 6 1080P display so I expect the 2K display would be even better.

You have better eyes than I. I've never really been able to tell much difference. But again, subjective staring.

For my money, combo iPad, iPhone, Mac makes for a more productive and satisfying user experience. Specs don't really do it for me.

That's fair enough, I myself love how the iPhone 6 works with my rMBP but in the end, for me, I've realised that Android is where it is at for me.

The edge is still drawing me but every time I make the switch back to android (Galaxy S1, Galaxy S3, Galaxy S4) ... I always go back to iPhone. I think I'm too lazy to use Android since I don't customize or mess around like I used to :p. Also don't really want to spend 1k on an unlocked version without carrier bloat.

You're best bet is to stick with iOS if you're not into customization.

I don't think that is necessarily the case. I don't do much customization other than choosing my default apps, widget layout and disabling bloatware.

There are still plenty of perks for switchers but not tweakers that go from iOS to android.

Yeah ditto.

I don't tinker too much either. Once I have my basic setup sorted I stick to it no matter which android device it is.

I kinda did this. I was using my 6+ as my daily driver, until I got the S6 Edge. Absolutely love this little guy. As much as I still have a soft spot for Apple, IMO the S6 Edge almost makes the iPhone look...average. I was heavily tied into the iEcosystem...but Samsung's smart switch app helped a lot with that. Transferred all of my music, matched up the apps on my iPhone with the apps in the play store, and transferred all of my text messages/contacts/videos/alarms/calendar info/ect. IMO the S6 Edge is best phone out today.

Will that change when the next generation iPhone drops this fall? Who's to say. But I'm hoping Apple has more than just a GB more of RAM and a slightly better camera in store for the new iPhone. Samsung is killing it right now, with their latest flagships. Screen resolution, outstanding camera, no slow downs, awesome processor, more than 1GB of RAM, great software (never thought I'd ever say that about TW) Samsung deserves the credit they are getting right now, despite what some of the apple faithful think. I'm hoping this makes Apple up their game for next iPhone. Competition is good for the consumers.

Hey man, let me ask you about SmartSwitch. How reliable is it? Did you back up your iPhone to the cloud or computer? Did your pictures come along easily? I know about disabling iMessage, but what other weird things should I be aware of before switching to ensure a seamless transition?

Thanks!

I do think the question is germane to this whole discussion. There is not one better phone in a holistic sense. Only what you deem is relevant to your working style.

Such a simple question that you won't answer, even though I believe you know what the right answer should be. Just another person making excuses for Apple's shortcomings. And worse, disguising it as some philosophically irrelevant or pointless task to bother discussing.

Then what's the point of asking for any features? Why critique or analyze or suggest or bother with any discussion about anything? Imagine this same argument a year or two or three ago; if someone said...

"Boy, it'd be great to be able to copy and paste" and imagine people responding with, "Eh, doesn't affect me."

"Ok, you may not use it, but should to feature exist for those that might? Might the experience be better for more people if the option was there?"

"No answer. It's irrelevant and germane to discuss wanting new features b/c it'll lead us to an infinite conundrum of wanting infinite features always" or something to that effect.

That's what happening here essentially, and it's a damn shame. So be it. Glad iOS works just right for you.

My iPhone was backed up to iCloud. So when I got my new S6 Edge, I downloaded smart switch. I then opened the app and logged in with my iCloud info. It transferred my iPhone info (including all of my photos and videos that were in the cloud) to my GS6. Now as far as getting the music, I just had my samsung rep at my job do it. She used smart switch (and an otg adapter, which I didn't have at the time) All of my music got moved over. Pretty easy process. Pretty reliable app, that makes it easier to switch over to android. If for some reason the smart switch app isn't letting you get your music over, take it to best buy and let the samsung rep do it.

This is info gold for me as I am expecting my Nexus 6 tomorrow and was worried about how all of my apps, contacts, photos, videos were going to be a pain to get over. So basically its an app I download called Smart Switch and walk through that and it should upload from my iCloud?

I appreciate this

I highly suggest you upload all your music to google play music. You will have it backed up and be able to stream it to any device or download it if needed. The let you store 50000 songs for free

I'm pretty sure the Smart Switch app is a Samsung product... It looks like you'd be best off using Mobile Trans for the Nexus.

Do you need to have the paid version for this? I know you said "for free" but I'm not sure if you mean it's included in the free version of Play or if there are no additional costs past the paid version.
