At the very least, they should have included the magic mouse and the base magic keyboard without Touch ID and give buyers an option to upgrade from it
You do understand that Apple charges money for those things, they don't give them away for free? The price of the iMac includes the cost of providing a magic keyboard and mouse with it. If it didn't come with those items, it would be a $100 less.

So what you're in reality asking is for Apple to raise the price of the Studio by a $100, and force everyone to pay for a keyboard and mouse they may not need (not to mention the environmental waste).

It's a shame it costs over $500 CAD with keyboard, trackpad, and mouse

A new kb and mouse/trackpad is part of the new computer experience!

Give me a break. You really think kb+mouse costs apple $100? It maybe costs them $20 for both and the rest is profit. Anyway, what I'm getting at is that a new kb+mouse (or trackpad) is part of the new computer experience! It doesn't make sense that the separate it and make the consumer buy it separately.

When you bought an iMac, the kb/mouse were paired at the factory to your computer ready to go out of the box. Those were the small details that apple was built on and now it's gone

Keyboard and mouse don’t cost Apple 100$ but they would absolutely charge that to consumers. They sell the base Mac Studio 1999$, if they sold it for 2099 keyboard and mouse included, you wouldn’t notice the profit they makes on these accessories alone.

Anyway, I think that for the targeted user of Mac Studio, it’s not a bad idea. Many professional uses a mechanical keyboard or a more ergonomic mouse, they would probably have no use for these accessories

Granted, they are absolutely over priced accessories

no, you know what, that's actually a really good point - music and video editors usually have their strange input devices but I'm pretty sure they still need something to type with

Next, you’ll be telling us about the new computer smell?

So, go find a non-profitmaking company to buy from. Apple is in business to make money. They aren’t obligated to give you things at cost just because you angry hate-post here.

My point is more that the targeted demographics for these computers, creatives and professionals, usually have their own hardware, and are used to buy expensive accessories. If someone can put up to 8000$ only for the computer, it’s probably not an issue to spend 100-200 more on keyboard and mouse. Apple knows that and takes advantage of this

The Mac Studio struck me as a computer where the lack of included perpherals made sense, kind of like the Mac Mini.

The Mini is a great "introductory" Mac for someone who already has a PC with peripherals they can bring over, while the Studio is, as was said, a likely drop-in replacement for a creative who already has their working environment set up and is interested in upgrading the computer part. Both also make sense as a headless unit that might be connected to remotely to serve as a media server (Mini) or a render / build machine (Studio).

Would including peripherals have impacted the Studio's pricing? Maybe, but I doubt that's the primary reason why Apple didn't include them.

My 9-year-old Logitech K811 is still serviceable so I can continue using it unless there's unexpected compatibility issues, and until I figure out what to do with my 2010 iMac its original AA-powered Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse are also an option. Or then the second-generation Magic Trackpad I got for work from home use.

I imagine my situation isn't that unique for MacRumors members - we tend to have a trail of past computers and peripherals, either in active use or a box somewhere. And as said, you can always buy new ones if that doesn't describe you, or if what you have doesn't work well with the Studio for some reason.

replacing my 10 year old iMac.
Would have been nice to get a bundle deal as I’m also buying the Display with my Mac Studio. Is there a better 3rd party option for a keyboard and mouse?

I think it’s somewhat ridiculous not to include a keyboard and mouse as standard. It very much positions the Studio as a more “pro” Mac Mini.

Personally though i’ll never go back to a non-mechanical after getting the Keychron K2. Even better it comes with Mac keys and in proper ISO layout.

Still love the Magic Mouse and there appears to be no alternatives, if you want the multitouch for quick spaces navigation - which I do.
