I wouldn't be disappointed if the new mouse/keyboard wasn't $300!!!! That's a little absurd to be spending so much on the Studio Mac/Display combo and then have to spend an extra $300 for a mouse and keyboard, which were always included with the iMacs.

You don’t have to spend that much. There are many cheaper keyboards, even from Apple.

The keyboard that came with my last iMac is sitting unused in a drawer somewhere.

Here
But TBH the new Touch ID keyboard with black keys and silver body looks really good.
They really do. I’m very happy with them as I’ve been a fan of Apple’s peripherals in the past. This is the first time I have had the extended keyboard with excess function keys that I have remapped using better touch tool.

How does it feel to use the full size keyboard and the trackpad? Does it feel like you're reaching? I currently have the smaller magic keyboard and trackpad and wonder how I'll like reaching 6 inches further due to the extended keyboard.

The next step is Apple will sell Macs without alimentation cord included. I mean, its ridiculous. A computer should come with a keyboard and mouse at the very least. Its like buying a new TV without the remote included.

Minis never came with KB and / or mouse as far as I can remember because not everyone uses them as a single workstation computer.

At my work we have 25 Minis installed in a 1U rack mount tray with only power and 10GBpe into our network at our 25 locations connected on a 100GB backbone link.

No KB, no mouse, no monitor, no trackpad, accessories.

They were setup remotely without a single KB or mouse ever connected.

We remotely access them as an app caching server & multi user profile backups duty.

The studio is meant for people who need a working studio.
People who need a working studio likely have specialized devices.
if you’re buying this computer to create shopping lists, surf the web and watch Netflix, you’ve already wasted your money and won’t mind wasting more for extra new entry level input devices.

I’ve been a part of this forum for some time, based on what I see, most users need an iPad Air while some maybe require a MacBook Air.

When I got my M1 iMac, there were a multitude of choices for user I/O which is an AIO machine needed for the user.

However, note that the Mac Studio are used in multiple Mac Studios in racks being used in server farms as headless machines = no need for keyboard / mouse / display:

And here I just ordered the Magic Keyboard with touchID. I hope it doesn't suck as much as you guys say! It's an expensive keyboard for it to suck!

I prefer Microsoft Mice, so no fear about the magic mouse. :)
Spoiler : it doesn’t suck.

That’s a lot of assumptions.

In our studio a mouse and keyboard would have been very much expected, same as any of our Windows boxes.

I have never heard of a computer being sold with an “alimentation cord”, so I guess you’re out of luck.

I understand why they're not included in the price, but I do wish the keyboard/mouse options were at least prompted on the same page like the Display was. I would have liked the option to buy them at the same time; I almost forgot to add the keyboard to my cart!

I got mine in and am using it with my M1 MBA until my Studio comes in. It doesn't suck. Maybe a little more key travel would be nice, but it's very easy to use.
The key travel is already a bit more than the last standalone Magic Keyboard. I like it.
I also bought it to use with my 2021 MBP for WFH.

As I type more with it I like it more and more.

It really is a nice keyboard, but I'd like something similar to it, though able to be used with a KVM, so that means normal USB. It's not as big a deal as before, since I wont be using my KVM as much, and I'll just stay in my Studio Max, and using Jump Desktop to connect to everything else, bit when setting up new machines, a KVM is nice...
